I registered 60 routines for a MOVE competition. I needed to add a few more routines so I called and left 12 messages over 30 days as well as emailing weekly. NO RESPONSE! I decided to switch to a different competition because I didn’t trust a company with such poor customer service. Ironically, my studio was still added to the schedule even though I didn’t pay and I informed them we wouldn’t be attending. I’m floored at how poorly this company is run. They missed out on $17,000 in entry fees.

This competition has always been a favorite of ours. The staff is friendly. The event is well organized and runs on time. Love the venue they use in Tacoma. Really wish more competitions that come to this area would use that. Love how they post the entire schedule online for you to print ahead of time. Again, wish all comps would do this. I also love how they post the scores in the results, and they are posted very quickly. The only thing that prevents me from giving this a 5th star is the judging. While I don't feel there is catering, the judging is super tough and they didn't seem to enjoy anything. One male judge even almost seemed irritated with our dances, which have all done very well everywhere else. All our dances placed well, but received their lowest scores all season at this competition, which they are entitled to score how they see fit, but just weird how our scores all year have been 280s-290s, and we come here and get 260s. I also wonder if they just won't go above a certain number for intermediate and if there's almost a deduction for doing this level. Our hours fall in the intermediate category, however, our dancers are also very good for this level. I see competitive dancers scoring 20/30 points higher than our dances, when some of ours place higher than them at other comps when they do the middle level, so scoring seems a bit skewed. The judges just didn't have great feedback and almost seemed bored in critiques and with any act that went on stage.
Judging was a joke. There was no reason for scores that were given out. Kids received MOVE awards that should not have and others that were flawless receieved lower score. It defintely seemed to go by the genre the judges liked....but if you're going to have a competition, you judges should be well rounded.....very disappointed and sad for the kids that should have won. I am not talking about my child either.
We attended Move Tacoma a few weeks ago. This is one of our favorites for sure!!!!! The venue is great! Everything ran very smoothly and on time. Staff is very friendly. Got great feedback from judges. One thing I love about Move is that the judging is fair. They judge truly based on performance and technique, and not based off how many entries you bring in. Love that about them! Love how they place the entire schedule online so we can print it off, and also love how they post results with scores. Sometimes it is nice to see where a dancer fell within the whole group score wise. Also love the videos that are offered at Move. I always buy all of our videos from here. If I had some minor complaints, one would be that they no longer accept cash at their events. Another would be that I wish they would do special judges awards for the intermediate levels, as well. They also work hard, and I saw some great dances that deserved to be recognized. Cash prizes can be solely for competitive, but would be nice to have some awards for intermediate. Other than that, we love this competition!! This was our 5 season attending this event and we have always enjoyed it. See you in Palm Springs!
Does anyone work here? called there office 3 times nothing but an answering machine. poor service and competition is unorganized
I\'m sorry to say that we will not be going back to this competition\". We saw a strange favoritism where they kept announcing their favorite studio! I\'ve never seen this done before at a competition. We also saw several children from the studio get awarded top ten but were never in the top ten at any other competition in the state! When it is that obvious it makes you realize favors were done ... It did not feel like an honest competition. I feel they will regret the decision to do favors as I\'m certain many will be avoiding this comp!
This was my last season competing this year ! we have done this competition for years. The first few years at MOVE was great then it has not been on point the past two years or so. I feel like this competition was a let down NOT only they FAVORED ONE Particular studio but he puts everything on social media and favors them as well. I just wish the old MOVE would come back . the Judges at National did not even look professinal and there comments were so out of text. I am writng this beacause we had a bad experince .
Just got home from Move Nationals. This was a fantastic event. Lover the location. Everything ran smoothly and on time. Staff was very friendly. One thing I love about this competition is there isn\'t that studio favoritism that we have seen a lot at other competitions. These judges are super fair. Trophies were bigger were finals, which was nice. Can\'t wait for next year! One thing I wish they would have is t-shirts that say finals or nationals on it. Otherwise, nothing bad at all to say about this production
I have been coming to Move for over 6 years. It is absolutely my favorite competition of the entire season! Great venue, friendly staff, fair judging, well ran and super organized.
First and foremost, I am especially impressed with how well the director, Jim, has dealt with the quick success as well as growing pains of a new company. I have been attending Move Productions Regionals as well as Nationals since 2008 and this year have seen such a huge jump for the company. You can really tell how solid this company is. Anyone who has been apart of a new business, studio, or anything knows all too well how difficult it can be in those first developmental years, so huge kudos to him that through it all his number one mission has been very clear, and that is to provide a well organized competition where kids thrive and have fun and are recognized for the hard work they are putting into their craft. Rather than getting to lengthy, here is the bullet points of why I think Move Productions is hands down one of the best dance competitions: -Judging is taken very seriously, any questions or concerns I have had with something said or done Jim has been quick to remedy, and has even gone as far as talking to the dancer to make them understand or feel better. -the crew backstage loves what they do and has a blast engaging and getting the kids excited to get on stage. My students always love hanging out with Raf and \"Mr. Move\". Raf even remembers them the next year and makes them feel like little celebrities. -there is a strong balance between the current trend of you-get-an-award-for-showing-up, and really having to work for it. My rec level students leave feeling on top of the world, and my more competitive kids leave either feeling really excited or inspired and hungry to get back in the studio and keep working. -Issues are dealt with quickly and fairly, Natalie and Crystal have been two new additions to the company that I have met the past couple years and they are amazing! -the photos and videos are hands down some of the best I have ever seen -Jim aims to keep not only studio directors and dancers happy, but the parents as well, which I LOVE!
We greatly enjoyed our experience at Move Production\'s San Diego dance completion 4/8-4/10/16. Their staff is amazing and extremely accommodating. They were so friendly, they made us feel right at home. Crystal was so pleasant and personal with everyone. We could not have had a better backstage supervisor than Raphael \"Ninja Turtle!\" He was on top of his job and was a joy to interact with for both our teachers and students. This was a well run competition with the best staff! We\'ll be back next year!!
This was our 4th year doing Move. This is a favorite of ours. They put on the best production. Staff was very friendly. Organized and ran ahead of schedule. In our 3 years prior doing this event, they gave almost everyone a platinum, which I didn\'t like, but now they\'ve gone the opposite way and were very tough with their scores. Overall, judging seemed fair, but there were a few higher placings where you just kinda think \"what were the judges thinking\"? Overall happy with this competition.
this is a great COMP. my daughter was a national winner with move last year!

Move has always been a great competition for us. Our kids have fun and do well. The announcer and staff are friendly and the judges are fair. My only complaint is that there were dancers from a studio who were bad talking other studios in the dressing room. This wouldn\'t have been so bad except that studio won the sportsmanship award, there is more to sportsmanship than checking in on time.
Was at Sacramento this weekend.Had a great time.Everyone was very nice and they were fantastic with my kids. LOVE that they make awards quick and funny. Nice venue aswell.Big dressing room space. Everything was on time
Will not attend this competition again until they provide a better stage than a make shift one in a ballroom type setting. You have to walk up some steps to get on stage and there are no wings or backstage area. This is extremely difficult for props and Productions with a large number of dancers. The judges did not say anything constructive and one was downright rude. Some of my critiques had only 2 statements from the judge. We pay for critiques not to for them to sit and watch and say hmmmm good or ewww what was that? I did not attend this year but I pulled up the results for my city. It seemed like everyone got a platinum. Not what I\'m looking for in a competition.
Originally I was impressed with this competition. I had a late registration and they were very helpful and accomidating. The event ran on time and the scoring seemed fair. However, one of the main reasons we chose this compettion was the availability of judges verbal critiques. we are now a month out from the competition and we have yey to receive any critiques. They have also been terrible at communication. I was told when a called that there was some technical problem and they were working on it. I was told a week later that it was fixed and the critiques would be emailed out the next day. 2 days later I was told critiques would come out that day. A week later I was asked for my email address so that I could be included in an email that was being sent out to explain what was going on with the critiques. It has been a week since and I have yet to receive an email. After 4 phone calls to them, I still have no answers and no critiques. I am feeling very let down as I would have chosen a different comp had I known I would not receive a critique from this one. We will not be back.
GOOD COMPETITION & free master classes at Nationals & great Award gifts at Nationals (itunes gift cards)
WORST DANCE COMPETITION EVER! Judges were so wrong and never smiled at dancers. I feel like this competition needs a makeover. Competition is never on time and MC said wrong names and titles . Many of the studios were very unhappy with the venue and the employee’s of MOVE were very rude ....if we asked questions they did not have a answer for us , The owner seemed like he did not care and only talked to the dancers he favored. NEVER AGAIN!
All of our dances scored really well, which is nice, but they were constantly running late. Our last awards was running 1 1/2 late. They were unorganized and I didn\'t like the venue, which wouldn\'t allow us to take in any food or drinks
Ok so we have been going to this competition a couple of times and they were ok for a new company . The past year this competition in particularly is a bit strange first they ONLY support really Large studios . So the more money you give him the more he will give back and that\'s a FACT! Second unorganized . Third a rip off! And last but not least we feel he plays favoritism towards studio and that\'s the truth and FACT ! So never never agin we will NOT go to this competition ! Please studio owners teachers dancers look at the facts and see for yourself .
We always look forward to attending MOVE. Fair, but strict judging. Doesn\'t matter how sparkly your costume is like other comps and everyone is very nice. And this comp usually gets the best pics too.
A good experience! They were friendly and the judging was fair. They do need some improvement in organization, it was a bit too out of order and confusing.
Rude backstage staff, poor organization resulting in ridiculously behind scheduling; judges who give scores only, no comments. Ran out of trophies, promised to send them, but never did. Even the awards ceremony emcee couldn\'t be bothered to dress properly or care about what he was reading out. We are never going back.

My daughter attended 8 competitions this year and this was by far our least favorite. We didn\'t receive the schedule until 4 days in advance. They ran 1-2 hours late by end of day all weekend (including not having 1 stage set up by start time). They had 2 stages, but girls were scheduled in different rooms too close together, so they had to jump all over the place. Senior soloists were split between 2 days: Fri pm and Sun am. One stage was in a warehouse-type space with concrete walls & floors, so sound was terrible to the point that the announcer was unintelligible. I do like being able to print my own schedule at home, but if you\'re going to do that, include the basic info I expect to find in a program. For example, judges\' bios and a description of the different award levels. At one point the MC sarcastically called out a studio that was taking a while to set up their prop (\"Oh, look... They brought everything they own.\"; \"I sure hope this is worth it!\"). I hate big props, so I secretly cheered, but she didn\'t say anything to anyone else, so then I felt bad. Most importantly, awards showed a complete lack of appreciation for the dancers--it was just a laundry list of placements with no chance for dancers to actually accept their award before they called the next name. Also, if you\'re going to hand out big fancy trophies to the Platinums (their second highest level), don\'t give a boring black plaque to the Move Awards (their highest level).
We always have a great time at this comp, one of my faves. Everyone is so friendly and everyone brings their A game
Disappointed. Venue was great but Move did not utilize it to their full advantage, no directing signage, space too large for their sound system. The announcers were lackluster to say the least. No true enthusiasm or real engagement with the kids. Seemed unorganized and a bit confusing at times. Hoping for a better experience at their Palm Springs nationals.
Hope we never go back. Very disorganized. Ran very late. Judges were not even paying attention to the dances. How can soloists who don\'t even perform get scores? Don\'t even know why they bothered with awards- \"just stand up if we call your dance in the overalls, no need to come to the front of the stage!\" What\'s up with that?! Kids work too hard to waste a weekend like that.
this was my daughter\'s 2nd time at Move, the first year was great we were excited to go back this year, we were not impressed, they ran late they were very unorganized this year, and i think there stage wa way to small with all the props on it.
The worst experience. Ran very late, judges were not watching dances AT ALL, awards ceremonies were a waste of time, jumped all around the schedule, making the overpriced program useless. I hope we never attend again.
THE WORST ..... No Management or Director was around to answer questions all of our numbers was mixed and we even called the Move office and left them a message and also emailed them 4times .. YES 4X and no response . At least the judges were good the one guy judge smiled and my kids and they where happy about that . We will NEVER come back or recommend this competition .
Very unorganized!
First time at this one and probably my last. Not too well organized and there was no recognition, even a certificate given to the top 10.
This was great, had so much fun :D
The judges at this competition did not bother to even look at the dancers perform, they were too busy on their cell phones and talking to each other. They gave scores to dances that didn\'t even perform. And only 1st overall gets a trophy, 2nd-10th overall don\'t even get recognized. These kids work too hard and the parents pay too much to be treated this way. I hope our studio never attends again.
We really enjoyed this competition. It ran on time which was great.
Well structured and tasteful. Management did a good job of organizing and making sure everyone followed the rules. They set a tone for a respectful audience. Felt more like a performance event than a MMA event - so refreshing. Awards were well presented and judging seemed consistent and well informed. Facility convenient. Staff courteous and helpful. Photos/videos seemed a little on the higher priced side compared to other events. Overall a well executed and enjoyable competition. We will go back!
We traveled out of state for this convention and it was a great time. Kids had fun in class and the judges were solid, fair, and their feedback was really useful!
We love Move! In the past, they were somewhat disorganized but have stepped it up incredibly. They are still laxed, but no longer chaotic. If you\'ve shown up to dance on time, great. If not, you forfeit your spot. They run fairly on time and are fun and fair.
We really enjoyed this competition, they were on time, very fair, and professional.
Pretty good all around . Not a fan of the dog tags. Announcer has gotten better . Hard to understand . My be venue issue.
Safe competition for newcomers. Friendly staff. Really care about kids.
this was our 2nd time at MOVE and i feel it really stepped up it\'s game since last year. It ran smoothly and the MC was MUCH better this year than last year.
Pretty solid, consistent competition. Well-run.
Like the judging, video critiques, and presentation of the entire competition.
Went to this competition last year. It was a new comp to our area. It was well run, a smaller competition, but the judging was good and ran on time. The kids had fun too, what more can you ask?
Loved this one...ran on time and everything was in one day
