IDC overall was an okay competition. Very mediocre. I would like to complain how there are no levels. at all. It is so unfair how dancer who practice less than 3 hours a week compete against dancers who practice more than 6 hrs a week. Also, the adjudications ceremony was not the best.

We have entered multiple competitions as independents this year in addition to our studio attended comps. We have taken the same music CD and same thumb drive to every one. Only this one had issues with our music as well as another dancer\'s, from our studio. THey had to find a personal computer with a thumb drive to get it working, & it played slower & muffled. THe backstage manager was rude to our dancers, who asked for the music to be turned up. We also never got the judges\' critiques. Getting hold of someone in the office is almost impossible. After 3 weeks trying to find out if my online order (because of course they only give 1 trophy to duet winners) has shipped I still do not have an answer. Between the rudeness, the music issue and the terrible customer service, we won\'t be back.
We did not attend this year. Last season was very disorganized and seemed very unprofessional. Will not return.
Staff overall could\'ve been more personable, just generally nicer. It felt as though we were bothering the stage manager every time we needed to check in. Judging was okay, but IDC used to be the event that wasn\'t afraid to say \"silver\", and now that they have implemented decimal points, it seems like they want to only give away those higher medals. My 21 dances were all scored within the same 8 points, and should NOT have been. It is sad, but I don\'t think we will be returning.
Not very impressed with the organization at the event (who does a \"fend for yourself\" dressing room scramble) or the judging (not very supportive, kind of vindictive?) Or the schedule. Or the fact that we never got a schedule until less than a week before the event. Also, it seems pretty cheap to not give a 1st place pin if there\'s no one else in the category.
I little unorganized, but fair judging and decent feedback. I do like that they award top entries according to genre as well as age. Gave my dancers who are less experienced a little encouragement.
Everything was so loud! Not crazy about the entertainment challenge, too much of a frenzy to get everyone back in costume to perform again, they were already tired. Overall the competition was fine.
Fabulous dance challenge! Different type of competition and truly fun!
Great Competition in Providence this year! Quick day and ran according to schedule in terms of time. There was a Marley floor provided by IDC at this venue. The venue was GORGEOUS! Would be great for a National competition. Only complaint, studios kept asking to switch around their entries due to \"costuming\" and their requests were accepted. For example, routine #2 was the LAST routine to go on stage? I think we need to keep it fair and run according to the program. There was plenty of time to change costumes so in the future, I\'d like to see less of this from IDC.
.
This compeition was not run as well as some of the others . It took two full days to do less than300 numbers because they took huge breaks between dancers . It was also very strange as soloist would compete on one day and then some of that same age group went the next day so they had to wait and entire day for awards . The awards are nothing like we have ever experienced . He didn\'t even call the kids up for overalls do you are left there asking wait who won what ? The kids put in a ton of work and it\'s nice to at least be acknowledged for all that hard work . He just says top four and they stretch the trophy out to whoever as they announce it . As parents we sat there in disbeliefe as we waited for the hour long awards to get to overalls only to be kind of swept under the rug . Families have a hard time remembering the dance names and he didn\'t even call out which teams they were . It was really disorganized . I asked twice about the free video but no one seemed to know what I was talking about so I\'m not even sure they still do that . It seemed like the one guy was running everything by himself and was overwhelmed . We felt so bad for him as he certainly was trying his best but no one can run and entire competition on their own .
Not bad, but not great. Their staff is very nice but the event kinda feels a bit outdated. Videos a plus
This was the most disorganized dance competition to which I have ever been. When we arrived at the venue at the time listed there was no one from idc actually there. We were kicked out of out dressing room for 30 minutes while the judges ate lunch even though there were numerous other places in the venue that were open. They gave the studio an access code to look at scoring but with that you could see everyone from the studios scores and critiques. The one redeeming thing to the competition was their free master class. My daughter had a great time at this class.
This competition ran on time for the most part. They give parents the videos for free, which is awesome!! This year they didn\'t have much for sale(t-shirts etc.). The entertainment challenge is always a favorite for our team, one routine from each studio is picked to perform again and win a award and a chance to win a free convention!
This competition was the most disorganized one I have been to by far. They were so far behind that awards were not finished until almost midnight on Sunday night. Dancers that danced in the early afternoon had to wait until that night to see if they placed. They also scored the girl\'s best dance at other competitions the lowest level silver award. At Nationals for another competition, this dance got platinum and first in the small groups in the age category, and second overall in the Nationals competition.
The only event we\'ve been to that gave away videos for studios and parents for free. Thought it was great!
Always enjoyed IDC. It could use some updates though.....
Our studio goes every year and we love IDC. This year, we went to Minneapolis because IDC was in Chicago during our Spring Break. The only issue I had was the venue, Pabst Theatre. It was beautiful but the dressing room was far from acceptable.
I went to IDC in 2013, and it wasn\'t a great comp. The awards were VERY long and slow. Also, the scoring was really strange...a routine from my studio I was SURE would receive Platinum got High Gold and another one nowhere near as good got Platinum, maybe because it was cute and had little kids in it. Overall, not a huge fan of IDC.
My daughter has danced in this competition for several years and this was the first year they ran out of pins to give out. We are waiting on three of them and it was in early April. Also we used to get a cd sent over to studio and now we don\'t we have to log into the website. They ran early then they were off on the numbers but that could be the studios fault.
The worst experience with a competition that we have ever had. Disorganized, lots of \"dead space\", ran late on a Sunday with school the next day, terrible announcers, not fun/entertaining, and ran out of awards. The announcer could not pronounce anything, lost her place often and announced things incorrectly thereby asking kids to return awards, and skipped numbers all together. We are still waiting for the awards since they ran out of awards; that was 2 months ago.
2nd time here and had great experiences both times. Loved the see my daughter dance.
We had a wonderful experience. My daughter received an individual special award and she wasn\'t even a soloist. It was clear that the judges paid attention to all dancers in all numbers. It ran professionally and ahead of schedule. Highly recommend this competition!
I just was not impressed with IDC this year.
I attended the International Dance Challenge regional in Appleton, WI and I loved my experience. It\'s a great dance competition that\'s high energy, has great judges and Randy and Joe are awesome. I highly recommend it for studios to compete at because they not only have a great and fun regionals, they also have drop dead amazing nationals too! Take my word for it, you won\'t be disappointed.
I like this competition. The judges awards and entertainment challenge are fun. The online video link is a bonus. I do feel the judges are a little rushed to leave every evening.
I would also give them zero stars if I could. While the venue was nice, the rest of this competition was a complete clusterf*ck. The backstage manager had NO idea what she was doing, the awards ceremonies dragged on for hours, they ran over an hour behind, and there was no excitement/fun to this competition whatsoever. Our kids won FIVE platinum/first places Sunday night, but instead of trophies and pins they left with a piece of paper saying \"Sorry, we ran out. We will mail them to you.\" Are you kidding me? They knew when they registered numbers how many items they\'d need. They happily took all of our money, yet we have NOTHING to show for it. They also took no video or photography. Our kids made the joke of a closing show, only for the backstage manager to start their music before they even checked in. They weren\'t even backstage yet when their music started. So embarrassing to our kids. The awards on Sunday night ran until midnight and they made NO effort to try and speed them up. They had zero regard for the fact that most of us had driven hours to come there and had school the next morning. I can\'t say enough how much I DON\'T recommend this competition. What a horrible experience!
I would rate it zero stars if I could. My studio has competed in over 50 competitions and our first experience with IDC was horrible, we will never go back! Most disorganized, dysfunctional comp I have ever seen. Barely any staff, most \'staff\' were hired hands from the venue that had no clue what was going on and in fact when they were asked a question their response was \'thank God I don\'t work for them (IDC)\'. Their judges have zero credentials. It would have been more fair to just throw a dart to determine the score. When obvious \'recreational\' dancers are scoring the same as true competitive dancers, something is wrong and it sends a terrible message to these hard working dancers. Let\'s see what else, they accommodated a huge studio last minute so we didn\'t get the schedule until 3 days before comp, they ran out of pins on Friday, the plaques they give the studios, what a joke, mine was completely wrong (they just slapped whatever stickers they had left on it), they ended at 9:00pm Saturday night, but were so behind schedule ran until midnight on Sunday (of course these kids have to go to school the next morning), kids were dancing at 11:00pm (how can they expect dancers to perform at their best at that hour of the evening when they\'ve been there for 16 hours prior?)...I could go on and on...BEWARE...IDC is a complete joke and a huge waste of money. \'Redefining the standard in dance competitions\'...they\'re redefining it alright, they are making millions of dollars at whatever the cost to the studios and dancers who they could care less about.
Worst competition ever. I hate even giving them one star. VERY disorganized, ran out of trophies and awards, ran two hours behind and didn\'t end until midnight on a Sunday night when parents and kids had to drive home (most at least an hour away) to get to school or work the next morning. The woman who called out awards had zero stage presence and struggled to name off everything. Award sessions were PAINFUL to sit through. They should have skipped the entertainment challenge. We were two hours behind and still had to sit through watching TEN numbers that we\'d already seen. Even picking the dances for that was a struggle for them because \"they just couldn\'t decide\". The teams that were competing were fierce and very talented. IDC was lucky to have them there and I\'ll be surprised if any of them go back.
Probably my favorite dance competition of all. They strongly favor technique over fluff. They have incredibly knowledgeable judges and run a very professional program. Love IDC!
Very disappointed in IDC this year. One of their huge selling points is the free link to all of your videos. When we received the link half of the videos were not working and one of my daughter\'s solos wasn\'t listed. Our studio owners contacted them and got a we\'ll check into it. We\'ve had no response and when I asked them about it on their FB page my comment was deleted.
This will be our third year attending IDC. Judging is a little strict but overall it\'s a great competition. Love it!
Eh... IDC used to be amazing and was by far our favorite. However, I agree with others that it has really gone downhill in the past couple years. They\'ve cheapened the experience quite a bit. The only thing that keeps us coming back is the Entertainment Challenge, as our parents love it. However, I\'m not sure that will be enough for us this year. Don\'t know if we\'ll go back.
this is one of my favorite competitions. i go almost every year. the competition is fair and good. it is run well and usually on time
I think that in the past year this comp has gone downhill a bit but I am hoping they can get it back to the fun organized comp it used to be.
Judging seemed fairly accurate, and I loved that they did lots of judges awards, but boy oh boy do some of the judges need to learn to be more concise! And they could probably do with a few less awards - they actually seem to go overboard, so the awards ceremony took FOREVER. It's nice to not just rattle them off, but there can be too much of a good thing. :)
The regionals were fantastic but their nationals in Nashville were kind of a mess.
When we attended it was a good competition.
Horrible.
We go to IDC every year! Very well run organization. Can\'t wait for nationals!
Well run competition, we will go back. Tough but fair judging.
Regionals were a very positive experience; nationals..... was inconsistent. For the most part unless your dancer takes a minimum of 20 hours, don\'t bother it\'s a waste of money. BUT not ALL judging was fair. \'Cute\'-ness got a platinum when half of the dancers just stood their watching the big screen.
Pins for all the dances were very popular with our dancers. (They have trophies/plaques for overalls.) Spreading solos throughout the weekend worked well. Did not like that they gave an \"award\" to every soloist that scored gold or higher. So few dancers scored silver that it was like a punishment. And it took forever to read all the names of the qualifiers. Free videos of the dances.
We have done IDC for several years and it has gone downhill a bit with the new owners. No plaques or trophies for soloists unless you place. They ran out of pins and "dog tags" for the last day so my child went home empty handed. I really liked them and hope that they work out all the kinks and it gets back to were it was.
When my children were dancing we participated in this competition every year. It was well run, the judging was very fair (unlike some other compeitions) and we really liked the Miss/Mr. IDC compeitions. The Entertainment Challenge was also a big hit every year. I highly recommend participating in this one.
This is a great competition! My favorite part is the Entertainment Challenge!! Can\'t wait for nationals!
IDC has always been a fair and enjoyable competition. Can't wait for nationals in Nashville!!
Our kids enjoyed regionals and are looking forward to Nationals in Nashville! See you in July!!
We've been attending IDC for years....we've found it to be a fun, well run organization
