First off, the management was not very friendly and seemed unorganized/confused. They didn’t welcome us with anything like mosts comps. I thought I had to check in but they looked at me like I was crazy. Judging was unfair at this competition. The big moneymaker studio won literally everything. I understand that the more numbers you bring, the more likely you are to win but this was just ridiculous. The judges definitely favored tricks and turns more than movement quality. They also said basically NOTHING in the critiques! My dancers don’t know what to improve upon when all you say is “nice” the whole time. If it’s so nice, then why didn’t they win… or even place? We had a few dancers that only got a high gold and I agree that they deserved it but when you don’t say anything in the critiques, they have no idea why they scored that way. Also with that big winning studio, they seemed to win no matter what. They did a number where multiple people fell and messed up to the point where they were all crying DURING the dance and causing a scene backstage after. That dance received a Grand Slam even with multiple mistakes. Our studio parents even said they saw multiple mistakes. Another thing was the backstage management. The guy running everything backstage was not organized at all and sometimes he would just disappear. I had to scramble to find someone else to check us in to perform and they asked ME where the guy was. Shouldn’t you know??? They also didn’t look for anyone who was coming up soon in the program. They just didn’t really care. The dressing room situation wasn’t ideal either. They had us all over the place, it was a free for all. Some people were just changing in the hallways. Other studios were claiming rooms to change in, which apparently was allowed. There were also many kids from that big studio in their National/intermediate level who were very advanced and should’ve been bumped up. They of course dominated. The last thing I didn’t like was the age categories. Their junior is 9-11 and teen is 12-14. I know other comps do this but in what world is a 12 year old a teen? My petites (9) had to compete in junior where they had no chance and my juniors (12) had to compete in teen where they also had no chance and they were AGAINST my elite team who are the oldest at our studio. Side note, the merchandise was hideous and tacky looking! No one seemed to really be buying it. The one plus side was the pictures and video which were great. That was the only thing good about Hall of Fame.

Hall of Fame is one of the best in the business. They truly set the standard for a great competition experience. My studio is a smaller studio competing against some of the giants in our area. The judging and placement is fair and honest with great critiques given from the judging staff. The HOF staff itself is fun, engaging, and helpful. These are long weekends for competition staff too but you'd never know at HOF as the staff is on-point all weekend long. Ricci does an incredible award show and it's by far the students favorite. All around a great professionally run competition. Highly recommended.
We have been to Hall of Fame in Worcerster for several years now and always have a pleasant experience. Very welcoming staff and great energy. The award ceremonies are always geared toward the dancers and are clearly designed to make sure they are having fun. The Emcee in Worcester was the best! This competition in addition has some of the nicest merchandise. Only complaint is the collapsible stage. Lots of competitions use them and We have never had issues with them in the past. But at this particular event the tape on the stage made it very difficult to turn.
Studios Just Be Prepared: This competition is very popular so it fills up and a lot of time they end up having 4-5 day events, which is crazy when parents work and students are in school and some of us have to travel hours to attend. I would personally say it is geared towards larger studios in the larger cities as that is how it seemed when we attended. I did feel at our event the judging was all over the place. Dances (including some of our own) were placing that we wouldn't had expected to place and much better routines (from every studio) weren't getting nearly high enough. The staff was nice but I hate when I pay good money for an event and favoritism is shown to studios they already know instead of them taking the time to step out and make the newer studios feel welcomed. I hope they will work on that after seeing my post. The videoing and photography is top notch, so kudos to them on that. I also thought the teacher room was a nice touch and I know so many thought the alcohol provided was great, but lets be more realistic, a dance competition with kids involved is not really the time and place for that.
Hands down, the best competition by far. The competition truly is the best of the best and brings in the highest caliber of competition every year (St. Paul, MN). The scoring is always spot on. The awards ceremony is always fun and upbeat and the announcer is so full of energy and keeps the awards moving. This competition always runs early, which is a perk when you've been there from Wednesday-Sunday. They value all genres of dance, which is often not the case with many competitions. The only thing that I do not necessarily like is that the scoring is lower for platinums in the intermediate and novice categories and that potentially convinces people to level down. I wish they were all 285+ for platinum. I do like, however, that advanced (American) has the opportunity for a grand slam, which are few and far between, but it's exciting and meaningful to receive one.
Our studio went to HOF regional and national regularly. I like their settings, especially the national competition. Judge are fair most of times. But I have two problems with the event. The first problem is that their acoustic quality is very very very bad (we attended Atlanta event)! We have attended many dance competitions and the acoustic quality of this event is much much worse than any other events. We have been to Atlanta for last few years. We have never been able to hear music clearly. I first thought it could be the problem of the hall. However, this year they moved to a new venue. The sound effect is equally bad or even worse. Some times I could not hear what the staff said at all in the award ceremony. I think they need to upgrade or have some one tune their audio system better. The second problem is that their awards are very cheap. They give very tiny plaques for ADJUDICATION awards, even for grand slam. While other competitions give much more attractive awards. Top overall scorers just got a piece of paper (coupon) of $200 discount for one of their summer event. Only first place got a slightly better plaque. My daughter was quite disappointed for that.
best of the best, never has disappointed in my 6 years of attendance
Love this Comp! It\'s always one of our studio favorites, and it\'s always such a fun/professional experience. Awards are fun and they do a great job of making the dancers feel special, but also moving things along. Back stage managers are awesome and helpful, and the judges give great critiques.
We have been attending this competition for years and have always loved it. Very professional, fair judging and always run ahead of schedule!
Thank you for the wonderful review! We look forward to seeing you again in 2017! Please contact us at info@halloffamedance.com if you need anything at all. Thank you again for your support.
Could not figure out how they were scoring. There were some routines that deserved a platinum and scored such. There were some routines that were high gold that scored a high gold. But there were many, many platinum awards given out to routines with so many technique issues, and quite a few high golds given out that were better than over half the platinum awards. The comments given at the regional level were non-existent. One judge literally just said \"pretty\" throughout the whole routine, with no corrections, while there were absolutely no comments from the other two judges. The performance got a high gold, why? High Gold at the nationals, the dancers will never know why they got the score they did and what needs improvement. As with the regional competition, the national competition had one studio that had \"elite\" on some of the jackets, but not on all. One girl danced all day from that studio and did her solo at the National level, then danced another day (all day) at the American level. All the routines scored a platinum despite problems. The judges knew the kids and some of the parents by first name. I find that the saddest of sad commentary, right along with lack of constructive comments. Hoping the studio owner never returns to this competition.
It is certainly unfortunate that you did not enjoy Nationals, especially since our feedback has been positive from studio directors who attended. As you did in your review of us from regionals, you are focusing on the fact that a studio had Elite listed on their jackets; however, since level placement is not based on what’s listed on someone’s jacket, this is an irrelevant detail. We do know that critiques are an important part of the competition experience, so if your studio director wants to contact us to discuss the lack of comments on critiques (which is not acceptable, and certainly not the norm for us), please have him or her do so. We would love to review the critiques in question so that we can address it with the appropriate judges. We also want to be clear that none of our judges knew any of the children, except in the context of possibly judging them at a previous competition, and they certainly did not know the parents by name. Again, if your studio director has specific concerns that they would like to speak with us about, please have them email us at info@halloffamedance.com.
Not the best nationals experience, but still very professional.
We were quite surprised by this review based on the overwhelming positive feedback we received after the incredible Sandusky Nationals. If you would like to share more details about why you didn’t have the best experience, please email us at info@halloffamedance.com. Thank you for noting our professionalism, and thank you for attending our truly amazing Sandusky Nationals.
Not impressed. Many elite dancers dancing many routines, so that you know they are always at the studio, dancing national/secondary. Many even had \"elite\" on their jackets. Was very confused with the scoring as well. Lots of technique issues with routines that still scored high (really high). Dancers on the outsides seemingly could be doing anything they wanted, whose performance wasn\'t included in the overall performance score.
Thank you for your comments. Placement in levels is not based on what labels are placed on jackets. Many studios define their competitive teams as \"elite,\" regardless of which level they are in. We\'re very proud of an event that was fun, organized, and professional and proud that so many studios were thrilled with our Detroit event. We are sorry you don\'t feel the same way. Thanks again for your comments.
This was a great competition and a ton of fun. My kids really enjoyed themselves. The photos were beautiful! For anyone planning to attend this comp, you should know it runs really far ahead. Many times this weekend we were 1.5 hours ahead. But if you know this going in you can be prepared. An area for improvement would be the venue. Our studio has attended various comps there and it is a difficult place to have a competition. The dressing rooms are tiny, they do not allow you to bring in food for your dancers, and the space is really tight. I can only imagine how great this comp would be at the Minneapolis Convention Center. There is way more space and the opportunity for multiple stages. I know Hall of Fame St. Paul is huge but I bet Minneapolis could be just as large if it were at the convention center Just a thought. Thanks for a great weekend!
We are glad that you had fun at our Minneapolis event! Thank you for noting the quality of our photographs, and we\'re so glad that you enjoyed them. Also, thank you for the feedback on the venue. This is something we will take into consideration as we book future seasons in Minneapolis. We love being in Minnesota, so thank you again for sharing the weekend with us!
It was a fun weekend! Host/announcer made the pre-awards stage time fun for everyone. Kids enjoyed the light sticks that were passed out. Room for improvement on changing rooms - the venue has plenty of space we have been there for other competitions. All studios need an assigned space no matter how big or small. Only studios were assigned space and the rest left to figure it out for themselves. The she show runs smoothly and at times up to 90 minutes AHEAD of schedule. This can make things stressful. The planned schedule could be planned better since this seems like a trend across the board.
All-around a wonderful competition! VERY fair judging and family always appreciates the live stream. Keep up the great work!
Thank you very much!
Love that they offer food at this one, especially the mini donuts. I wish they would run a bit more on time though, but they tend to do a good job for the most part. Changing rooms could use some help, but we bring a tent and can set up pretty much wherever.
MANY positives! The judging was VERY fair! Many different styles of dance represented in the overalls! That was so nice to see!! The levels of competition are fair and the studios placed their dances really well at this competition! Live stream is amazing! I really would love to give it five stars but there were a couple of issues. The dressing room situation on group day was horrible! You literally could NOT move in the dressing room. Rooms became available later, but once you are all set up for the day it\'s such a huge hassle to move everything. And they ran waaaaay tooooooo early. I think an event that runs over an hour ahead could have been better planned from the start. Being way early stresses everyone out! Getting ready in a shortened amount of time, interferes with other plans for the day and causes people to MISS their kids (grandkids, friends, etc.) dances. There has to be a better formula for planning the day(s)!
Top Notch Competition!
A well-run and fun competition!
Thank you for the kind review, and we look forward to seeing you this season.
Positive-live stream! every competition should have this. Negative-they usually run so late... i wish they would draw the line somewhere.
We\'re so glad you love the live stream. As far as \"running late\" is concerned, we\'d like to clarify that our shows are always on-time or early, and we never run behind or late. However, our shows are often quite large. We work hard to create a schedule that makes sense considering the size of our show, and we ended on time or earlier at all 2015 shows, regardless of size. Thanks for your feedback, and we hope to see you this season.
Our studio attends every year and this is by far the favorite of both dancer and mom. Very well organized from start to finish. As another reviewer noted, I\'ve also found the music low. It\'s obviously fine for the dancers, as they\'ve never complained, so just figured it was my taste for very loud music.
Thank you for the kind review. We look forward to seeing you this season!
lots of fun
Thank you! We strive to be LOTS OF FUN, so I\'m glad we succeeded!
Great competition! Loved Vegas for nationals
Thank you for the great review! We\'re so glad that you loved Vegas Nationals, and we look forward to seeing you this season.
Love HOF - Always a professionally run Competition. It\'s a busy time of year, but would like to see things wrap up a little earlier.
Thank you for the kind review. As you know, St. Paul is always one of our biggest shows of the year, which is certainly one of the things people love about it! However, we are always looking to improve upon our scheduling, and we do know that people love it when we don\'t end too late on Sunday. Thanks again for the review, and we look forward to seeing you this season.
Fun competition and love the live stream for family that can\'t attend!
Thank you! The live stream is certainly one of the most popular features of our competition, and we\'re glad that it is available so that friends and parents can watch the dancers from home. We look forward to seeing you next season.
This is always a big competition around here, it does run behind and late into the evening. I love that the routines can be viewed live online.
We love the live stream, too! We\'re so glad that you appreciate that feature of our show. While some of our regional events are large, we take care to create an organized schedule so that we do not run behind at the end of the evening. In fact, all of our events last year ended on time. Thank you for the review, and we look forward to seeing you next season!
Mixed feelings Have always loved this competition we would go every year and do the Nationals This last year we were not happy with the head staff felt very unfriendly which is unlike them. Also I don\'t like that all of their judges are teachers/studio owners who compete at the events as well. So one week two teachers are buddy buddy and judging together and then the next week one of those same teachers is judging the other ones students. Seems like a conflict of interest
Thank you for the thoughtful review. We\'re sorry that you had a poor experience with one of our staff members. As you know, we pride ourselves on the friendliness of our staff, and an unpleasant experience with our crew is not the norm. While some of our judges are in fact studio directors and teachers, we work hard to make sure that our judges provide thoughtful, objective critiques, and we do not place judges in cities where there may be a conflict of interest. If you would like to discuss any of this further, please contact the office at 248-668-8151 or info@halloffamedance.com. We hope to see you again next season so that you can experience the Hall of Fame competition that you have always loved.
Did not like it. WE have attended 2 nationals but their local ones were bad. We won\'t be going back.
Thank you for the review. We\'re sorry to hear that you had such a negative experience. We would love to hear any specific things that we could improve upon. Since you did not mention which show you attended, please feel free to email us at info@halloffamedance.com with more detailed feedback.
Their awards are very confusing. They could not explain the scoring, and it does not good not to be able to your students, how far they were from the next level score. Also did not like the staff making \"snide\" remarks about some studios, teachers, students. Not cool.
We are quite surprised to read your remarks about our staff, as we normally get compliments on our staff\'s professionalism and kindness. Obviously, the snide remarks you mention are not acceptable. You did not mention which event you attended, or any specifics, so if you could please email us at info@halloffamedance.com with the details, we would be able to further address this issue. As far as our awards being confusing, our scoring scale for both our American, National, and Rookie Leagues (Elite, Intermediate, and Recreational levels) is printed in the program and can also be found online at our website (see the Awards and Rules page). It should be easy to tell your students how far away they are from the next level score by simply looking at the scoring scale chart. If you have trouble finding the chart, or need more information about this, I urge you, once again, to please contact us directly. Thank you.
love love love!!! staff is great and helpful! nothing is better than this competition!!
Thank you! We\'ll see you in 2016!
Love the online streaming and alerts! This was great because timing was not the best. Nice critiques.
Thank you for noting that the critiques you received were well done, as we work hard to make sure that our judges give good feedback. We\'re also so glad you appreciate the online streaming and text alerts. We do sometimes run ahead of schedule during the competition, which is why we have those alerts in place so no one misses awards. Thank you for the kind review, and we look forward to seeing you next season!
:)
WHENEVER A COMP IS AT A CONVENTION THE VOLUME IS WAY TOO LOW & HARD TO HEAR MUSIC IN AUDIENCE
Thank you for the 5-star review, and we will keep in mind the music issue you mention for next season. See you in 2016!
Always enjoy competing with Hall of Fame. They have it all together when putting this competition together.
Thank you for the kind review. We are so glad that you enjoy competing with us, and we look forward to seeing you next season.
This is an OK comp. The techonology aspects are great. Live streaming and text alerts are awesome. However, I don\'t like having two stages as I have 3 daughters and run the risk of having to choose. Also, because they very rarely on \"on-time\" according to the schedule, your group could go very early causing people to miss it... especially if live streaming. The venue itself is not the best as far as amenities, but the stages are fine.
Thank you for the review. We are glad you appreciate the technological aspects of our competition including the live streaming and text alerts. While we can understand that two stages may not be ideal for everyone attending the competition, we strive to create a thoughtful schedule that eliminates conflicts between the two stages. Thank you again for the review, and we look forward to seeing you next season.
They are always well organized and on time if not early! Love that they have the live stream it makes it nice for family that cannot attend or in my case in particular when there is a younger sibling who doesn\'t want to spend all day and night sitting quietly in an auditorium. Many times when one of her older sisters have dances later in the evening and she was able to be home in bed and dad could hop on the live feed and still watch the other kids perform. It also comes in handy if your out getting something to eat in between routines you can hop on and see where they are in the line up. The texting option is always nice too.
The comp ran well. Did not like the two stages because we could not support some of our dance sisters due to both groups being on stage at the same time.
Love this competition. Very well run.
Great comp! Professional and always accommodating Can\'t wait till next season
Thank you for the great review! We can\'t wait to see you next season, too!
Great!!!
Thank you! See you next season!
AMAZING!!
Thank you!
This competition was very organized and on time. They also lacked the ability to give an equal amount of attention to all levels of the competition.
Thank you for your review and for recognizing that we are organized and on time. We pride ourselves on this! However, we are slightly confused about your feedback regarding the amount of attention given to all levels of the competition. High scores are announced in each category, regardless of level, and all dancers are eligible for special awards and participate in our fun award ceremonies. If there is something specific regarding this you think we can improve upon, please let us know by emailing us at info@halloffamedance.com. Thank you again for a great review, and we\'ll see you next season!
Having competed with HOF many times, we always had a positive (sometimes amazing) experience until this year. Can we expect judges to move inappropriately placed dances into the correct level (as defined in their own rules)? Should we mind when . . studios underage their dancers? . . that a studio director at regionals is a judge at nationals? . . That a judge (who provided us with critiques of only a few words each) is the director of a studio who competed at another regional and at nationals? It may be difficult to find qualified judges, but that is the responsibility of the competition director. Studio directors should not judge for the circuit they compete with; that is a conflict of interest. Judges should be expected to provide each group with a contructive critique, that is what the dancers (and instructors) seek. To disregard them by providing a series of subpar reviews is shameful.
Thank you for the review. We are sorry that your experience this season was not as positive as past seasons. As far at the levels are concerned, we ultimately have to trust the studio directors to place the dance in the appropriate level as we have no way of knowing that particular dance/dancer\'s experience. Our judges do have the ability to move routines to a more advanced level if they believe it’s appropriate to do so. This certainly has happened in the past. Also, if our judges are not providing valuable critique, which we know is one of the most important parts of the competition experience, please let us know via email so we can address that issue with the judge. Finally, if you wish to discuss this more in detail, we would welcome the opportunity. Please email us at info@halloffamedance.com or call the office at 248-668-8151. Thank you.
My daughter\'s studio does this competition every year and we generally love it! It attracts some great competition and its a joy to watch the many dancers perform. I love the live feed! It\'s on 24/7 in my house the week of the competition! Judging in generally fair and accurate, the larger studios are favored but that\'s the way it is with every competition. I wish the venue was different, Rivercenter is so old and small. This comp has gotten so big it should really be at the Mpls Convention Center. I love the option to buy a DVD of all of your studio\'s numbers!
Thank you for the kind review! We are glad that you enjoy yourself at our St. Paul event every year and that the live feed is a hit with you and your family. See you next season!
If you have a petite, do not waste your money as HOF does not separate levels. My daughter dances against kids older than her with more years of experience. It\'s not fair they separate all levels except for the little ones. Nationals she is up against 55 solos. That is absurd for the little ones to deal with that when they work just as hard.
Please note that we do separate the Future Hall of Famers (8 and under) into 2 levels: rookie and competitive. Juniors, Teens, and Seniors are able to enter in 3 levels: Rookie, National League (intermediate), and American League (Elite). We hope that you dancer had a great time at Nationals.
Judging was great. Comp was organized. What else can you ask for? Always a super time
Thank you! We are so glad that you had a great time during our first year in East Brunswick. We hope to see you next season at one of our events in NJ on March 18-20 or May 6-8.
Generally speaking, I think HOF is very friendly, organized and communicates well before the event. Everyone working at the competition was nice and overall my dancers had fun. However, the judges had VERY little to say on our critiques, sometimes saying nothing for 1-2 minutes at a time during a 3-minute piece. I realize they are sitting through 500+ routines over 2.5 days, but for what a competition costs and the time/hard work it takes in preparing for competition, I expect more from the critiques. It would be nice if they\'d at least justify the score or recommended adjudication... or if they\'d take the time to comment on the choreography/expression rather than focusing solely on the technique. I had dancers who poured their hearts out on stage and all they got were a couple comments about their feet and shoulders. We\'ve attended the Indianapolis, Chicago and Des Moines HOF competitions in past years and always had great judges. I can only hope this is a one-time issue.
Thank you for the thoughtful and detailed review. We are sorry that the critiques from the judges didn’t live up to your expectations (or ours). It\'s important to us that our judges give thorough, thoughtful, and helpful critiques, as we know this is one of the most important aspects of the competition. By letting us know your concerns, you’re helping us improve the quality of our judges, and this is something that we are always working on. We assure you that, as you hope, this will be a one-time issue for you. We look forward to seeing you next season so that you can again experience HOF’s organization, commitment to customer service, friendliness, and fun along with high-quality critiques. If you have any other questions or comments regarding this issue, please email us at info@halloffamedance.com. Thank you again for bringing this to our attention. See you next season!
Always a great event! On-time, great critiques and very organized. We LOVE HOF!
Overly large competition that caters to the large studios that bring the most routines. Everyone is crammed in \"fend for yourself\" dressing rooms, it was VERY uncomfortable for our dancers and parents. The judging was WAY off base and not very fair. Judges did not say much during critiques so they were useless to help our dancers improve. Very disappointed and most likely will not be returning. Found that this competition varies by location. The GR competition was much better venue, space, etc. so it\'s difficult to rate.
We are sorry that you did not enjoy yourself at our Detroit competition, especially since the feedback from most studios was that everyone had a wonderful time. We do not believe that the competition was \"overly large,\" as you say, since the schedule was very organized and we ended early each night. As for the dressing room situation, labeling dressing rooms is not possible at that particular venue. If there was a problem with space, we wish you would have brought it to our attention at the event where we could have addressed it. Finally, our judges were objective and attentive, and therefore fair. However, if the critiques were not up to par, please contact our office so we can look into this. It\'s important to us that our judges give thorough, thoughtful, and helpful critiques, as we know this is one of the most important aspects of the competition. Please contact us at info@halloffamedance.com with specific details so we can address this with those particular judges. Thank you for taking the time to write a review.
Love HOF! Always on time, but sometimes gets a LITTLE too far ahead... though they could certainly have worse problems! Love the live stream, it\'s nice to be able to watch our studio\'s other pieces without having to spend my whole weekend at the comp if I don\'t have to. Awards are efficient and I love that they give so many special judge\'s awards!!
Thank you for the kind review! While we know everyone appreciates that we consistently run on-time or ahead of schedule, we also understand that running too far ahead can make it difficult for those in the audience or watching the live-stream to plan. We are working to create a balance. Thank you again for your feedback, and we hope to see you again soon!
As my company director said \"I feel like we are at (another dance studio\'s) recital and we are the opening act. Very confused about the competition- here are my thoughts: Pros: ran early, very well organized. Great text alerts. Love online schedule. Live feed fabulous. Best venue in the area for competitions. Cons: I get it, they are a huge studio- but the pandering to that one particular studio was completely out of hand. Every time the stage was held up- it was that one studio. And the judging- my daughter has been FIRST overall at every single competition she has attended this year. Every single time. And, she scored a platinum this weekend. And she was first in her very big division. So here I am expecting at least some sort of an overall especially when the first announced only scored a high gold. But no. ONLY (that one really big studio)\'s girls swept all overalls. Every single one. We even left that day and competed again at 8 National Talent Competition and not only did she win first overall, she also won the title and was the second highest score of the entire competition. So tell me, how does that even happen? Needless to say, I am not interested in being another studios opening act ever again.
Thank you for taking the time to review us. We are sorry you were less than happy about our event in Ft Worth, though we truly appreciate the pros that you have listed here. We would like to clear up a few misconceptions that you mention in your review. First, we certainly did not pander to any studio. We strived to be organized and on-time the entire weekend and, as you mentioned, ended each day ahead of schedule. As you can clearly see on our results page on our website, there were ZERO categories in which one studio swept the overalls, so perhaps you misremembered this fact. We had incredible judges at our Ft Worth event, and know that they were fair throughout the competition. Any dancer should be proud that they received a platinum, though I can understand the disappointment at missing out on the overalls. As for the question you pose: How does it happen that a dancer wins one competition but doesn’t place in another competition? The answer is that there were different dancers competing at each event. If your studio director would like to contact us with any further concerns, we welcome the opportunity. He or she can contact us at info@halloffamedance.com. Thank you again for taking the time to review us.
This competition was so well run! It was organized, the awards moved quickly, and the entire staff was super friendly.
Thank you for the great review! We had a wonderful time in Austin, too. See you next year!
great COMPETITION !
We had a great time. I felt judging was very fair, and awards were very efficient. It was really nice to see a comp whose judges know how to score tap. I love the live stream, and was able to watch many of our studio\'s soloists perform on Sunday after we had gotten home. I asked our studio owner if we could come back next year. My only complaint was that they only accept cash or checks for clothing or pictures. The photo person said we could pay with a credit card if we wrote down the info, which we won\'t do. The clothing person only took cash or checks. There weren\'t even any signs which said that they only accept cash or checks. They might sell more items if credit cards were accepted.
Thank you for the thoughtful and kind review. We truly appreciate your comments, and we look forward to seeing you next year.
Overall, this was a good competition, & I would not be upset if our studio returned next year, but here are what I saw as the pros/cons: Pros: -Ran efficiently & ahead of schedule, which was great. Even awards moved fast, which was a pleasant change -Judging seemed fair and pretty consistent with what we\'ve seen at other area competitions -To the minute scheduling available over a week before the competition(some of us dance parents do have other kids in other activities & having extra time to coordinate & find rides for them is really helpful!!!) -Nice awards. I know some like trophies, but we prefer plaques and the pins are some of the nicest I\'ve seen -Lots of judges\' special awards -Great prices on photos & video! I can\'t speak for the quality of the video as mine is coming in the mail, but the photos were really good! Cons: -Our \"Rookie League\" dancers definitely felt like they were not treated as well as the dancers in the \"American\" and \"National\" leagues. They were relegated to a smaller stage, where the audience sat in uncomfortable folding chairs (vs. more comfortable ballroom chairs at the larger stage). The Rookie League stage had no prop help (the other stage did), and there was no allowing for numbers to go out of order due to costume changes, etc. (whereas there seemed to be a lot more flexibility on the other stage). -While special awards were plentiful, the overalls definitely were not. In the Rookie League Teen Solos, for example, there were 19 dancers, and only 6 were recognized in the overalls -- that\'s not even 1/3 of the dancers. We are used to seeing at least 1/2 of the dancers place, so that seemed pretty stingy to us. -Photos & video could only be purchased with cash/check, & the same with merchandise. I didn\'t see any notice of this on the website beforehand & it would have been nice to have known, as I don\'t carry a checkbook & don\'t always have that much cash on me.
Thank you for your very thorough and thoughtful review! We appreciate all of your detailed comments, and, of course, it\'s always nice to read positive things about us! I would like to bring up one point in response to your Cons list, and that is about the second stage at out Schaumburg event. We are certainly disappointed that you feel like your rookie dancers weren\'t treated as well as the American & National League Dancers; however, please note that both National and American league dancers danced on that second stage, including group numbers from all 3 leagues. It is always our intent to make sure every dancer, teacher, and parent feels like they are important to us: because they are! Thank you again for the insightful review, and we will see you next year.
Attended the St. Paul competition last weekend. The scheduling was horrible. There were group dances with 10:45 awards on a school night, not acceptable. Either find a bigger venue with another stage or accept less numbers. The dressing room situation was not good either, the rooms didn\'t open until 5:00 and the dressing area by stage 2 was insufficient for the number of dancers needing to use it.
While we are sorry that you did not enjoy yourself at our St. Paul regional, we, and most of the studios we spoke with, left the weekend feeling that it was an incredibly fun, professional, and organized event. Scheduling such a large competition is difficult, but we are always upfront about the size of our St. Paul show and the fact that we were starting earlier in the week. Due to issues with prom (and we think it is important for seniors to be able to attend their prom), senior group dances had to perform on a school night. Though we were scheduled until 10:45PM, we ran early as we did all weekend long, and the last dance performed well before that time. Overall, we couldn’t be happier with the professionalism, talent, and kindness that surrounded our St. Paul regional. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
LOVE Hall Of Fame!! BIG FAN! The staff and directors are VERY personable, accommodating and just there to help you! Quick award ceremony, but not too quick. Usually run ahead of time. Have Live Stream and text updates. Dancers always have a good time and the talent is amazing! GREAT competition! Will go back every year...
We love our show in Niagara Falls! Thank you so much for the kind review. See you next year!
We always loved Hall of Fame many years ago. We attended several times as Independent and with only one solo, my dancer always placed and was recognized. Now in my opinion, that is a competition who does not favor anyone!!! So wish they would come to the St. Louis area. Any chance of that Hall of Fame? :)
Hello! We are in the St. Louis area on May 8-10 at the Gateway Center in Collinsville, IL. Thank you for your kind words!
Ran about hour ahead of schedule, live stream & was able to print out program from home, awesome!
Thank you for the kind review. We had an amazing time in Redondo Beach and are so glad you did, too!
Love Hall of Fame. Runs on time/early (which is amazing considering how big these competitions always are in Michigan), fair judging in levels, lots of exciting opportunities for the kids. The one thing I will say is that routines that I personally would find questionable as far as being age appropriate tend to score really high here...although that\'s more of a reflection on the judges than the competition itself.
Thank you for the kind review! We love our hometown Michigan shows!
Generally like HOF except they run super early and i really don\'t care for the fact that it starts on a thursday night.
We are so glad that you are generally happy with our shows, as we work hard to produce fun, organized, and professional events. Our shows that begin on Thursday are listed as potential Thursday starts when we post our schedule for the year, which allows everyone to make informed choices. Also, in most cases, we limit the dancing to after school and in the evening on Thursdays and run solos at that time so that individual dancers can make their own choices without affecting the team. Many sports and activities that kids are involved in compete/take place on Thursdays and we see dance as no different from these other activities. Thank you for attending HOF, and we hope to see you again!
We have attended Hall of Fame several times over the years and have always been one of our favorites. Although the pictures cost more here than at other competitions their photographer last year captured some amazing shots of my daughters solo that were worth every penny to purchase. Love the structure of the levels of competition, and the recognition they give to the hard working dancers.
Thank you for the kind review! Also, thank you for recognizing the skills of our photographers. We have some amazing photographers on staff and are constantly amazed by the incredible shots they are able to capture. Thank you again for your support, and if you have any other feedback for us feel free to email us at info@halloffamedance.com.
We recently attended Hall of Fame Dance Challenge for the second time. It was very well run, it ran early all weekend which was super nice on those late awards nights. The judges were great, very professional and the backstage crew was fun! I highly reccomend this competition to everyone.
We also had an incredible time at the OKC competition this year! Thank you so much for the great review. It\'s wonderful to receive feedback such as this, and we will pass along your words to the OKC judges and crew. Thanks again, and we\'ll see you next year!
We always really liked Hall Of Fame but I wish they would make studio\'s stick to the rules. Just saw the schedule for a competition coming up and I am wondering how a dancer who is in 10 dances can be dancing in the National League? I know it is the discretion of the studio director, but sometimes that isn\'t fairly done and it is quite obvious. I have seen this happen year after year. Maybe some attention needs to be paid to this problem.
We\'re glad that you\'ve always liked Hall of Fame, and we can understand your concern with studios breaking the rules. If we are aware of a rule violation, we always address it right away. As far at the levels are concerned, we ultimately have to trust the studio directors to place the dance in the appropriate level as we have no way of knowing that particular dance/dancer\'s level. Our judges also have the ability to move routines to a more advanced level if they believe it’s appropriate to do so. This certainly has happened in the past, and when it does we let the studio director know and make the proper adjustments. If you have any other feedback, please feel free to email us at info@halloffamedance.com.
Our absolute favorite comp every year! Runs on time, good categories, friendly staff. Venue is great and dressing room space is fair.
Thank you for the kind words! If you have any other feedback for us, please feel free to email us at info@halloffamedance.com. See you next year!
Venue Excellent, Ran on time or ahead of time, well rounded group of competitors, ran smoothly. Live streaming of event is so appreciated.
Thank you for the kind words! If you have any other feedback for us, please feel free to email us at info@halloffamedance.com.
Great... Great... Comp!... Go there!
My dancers always look forward to Hall of Fame! The awards are a bit confusing at first, but the kids have a great time, they have an excellent photographer, and the staff is great!
Thank you for the kind review. We\'re so glad your dancers look forward to Hall of Fame. We pride ourselves on having the best staff in the industry, so thank you for acknowledging that. Also, we are so glad to hear that you\'ve been impressed with our photographers--we have some truly talented ones on staff. Regarding our awards, if there are anything we can do to help you clear up this confusion, please let us know. We can be reached at info@halloffamedance.com/ Thanks again for the great review, and we will see you this season!
LOVE Hall of Fame. Love the live stream they have. Sometimes they run too early but no other complaints! We love it!
Thank you for the kind words and the great review! We love the live stream, too! Regarding running too early, while we know that directors, teachers, and dancers appreciate that we always run early or on time, we know that being excessively early can make it difficult to plan. We are working to create a balance, and, while you should continue to expect us to run up to an hour ahead of schedule, we plan not to get too far ahead of that mark during our shows this season thanks to feedback we\'ve gotten such as yours. We also have the text message updating during the show that lets you know awards timing and how ahead we are. Again, thanks for the wonderful review. See you this season!
LOVE IT! HOF is always a class act. Going twice this season.
Thanks for the kind words! See you this season!
HOF used to be a favorite of mine growing up but I attended an event last year as a teacher for the first time and it is nothing like what I remembered. The event was held at a small little school. Upon walking in, we were greeted by a girl eating a burrito and the lobby reeked of Chipotle. Just seems a tad unprofessional... I went to turn in music and the girl instructed me to turn it in at the judge\'s table. Ok... let me walk down in front of the audience, block people\'s view and distract the judges during competition, to turn in my music. Weird. The event we attended was running really early. It\'s nice to run a little early but there is such a thing as TOO early. I could see this being fine and desirable for a huge studio with 100 routines and you\'re camping out there anyways, but we are a small studio with less than 10 routines. We\'re not going to camp out at the event all weekend. My dancers had call times 2 hours early. For the first routine of the weekend, we showed up 2 hours early and the backstage runner was already hunting us down! I was completely caught off guard and shocked. We had JUST arrived! I told them they had to give us at least 30 minutes because my dancers weren\'t even dressed yet. We scrambled to get them dressed and barely warm before throwing them on stage. Call me crazy, but a 2 hour call time should be sufficient right? Not at HOF apparently.... Then, to make matters worse, we left to get dinner because there was a good 5 hours before awards. Keeping in mind that they were running so early, we showed up an hour and a half before awards were scheduled and the award ceremony, no joke, was over. We even signed up for their text service that\'s supposed to keep you updated. It didn\'t work. Oh well. I asked for their awards and a guy handed them to us backstage without a word, as if it was an inconvenience to him. Sorry to inconvenience you. My dancers walked away feeling invisible... I\'m just glad they had a good time performing on stage.
I’m sorry that our event didn’t meet your expectations, as we believe that we’ve only gotten better over the years. Of course, there is always room for improvement. We understand the difficulties presented when we run too early. While we know that directors, teachers, and dancers appreciate that we always run early or on time, we know that being excessively early can make it difficult to plan. We are working to create a balance, and, while you should continue to expect us to run up to an hour ahead of schedule, we plan not to get too far ahead of that mark during our shows this season. Our text messaging updates that indicate awards timing have proved invaluable over the past few seasons, especially so that dancers don’t miss awards. I can understand the disappointment that they did not work for you; however, we weren’t aware of any technical problems with them last season. Rest assured that handing your music to the DJ, who sits at the very end of the front table, does not distract the judges as you don’t have to go anywhere near them to turn in your music. Also, we’re glad that the sales person greeted you upon arrival and was able to answer your questions, despite the fact that she was eating. Finally, please know that no one who dances on our stage is an inconvenience, and we are sorry that a member of our staff made your dancers feel this way. We are proud to have what we believe is the best staff in the business, and we promise that if you try us again, you’ll experience stellar customer service.
Probably hands down the worse most disorganized one we have ever attended ! So many eraser marks on score cards clearly leaving our company with a bad taste !! Maybe one or two score change but NOT 15 out of 25 numbers entered ? They seem to pick and choose how many spots they will announce which is so sad . Just ridiculous scoring going on there with no emphasis on technique . This company seems to only value how many numbers and money you have them . Listen to several critiques where they praised the girl but then erased and lowered scores after the fact . It interesting they say they were on time when one stage was hours not minutes but hours ahead having us scrambling to get our girls there on time . Also our team had SEVERAL eraser marks and changes on the score cards Not just a few !! Actual complete scores were changed after they were added up ?!? Funny how you can see the scores and each one that was added up and then erased was lowered ?I know of 4 teams not attending this year after last year !! Sorry HOF that you feel the need to lie. Very typical of the HOF compeition circuit . I would avoid LOC also owned by these same people.
We are sorry to hear about what a disappointing time you had at our Chicago competition last season, especially since our staff and nearly all of the attending dancers had an amazing experience in Chicago. As far as scoring is concerned, scores are NEVER changed “after-the-fact” as you wrote here. Occasionally, a judge will make a mistake when scoring and erase and initial that change. This is due to human error and nothing else. Also, while we do not have a set number of high scores we read in each category, it does in fact depend on the amount of entries in that category. The category you cite here where only the top 3 placements were announced, junior American league solos, only had 13 entries competing (not 50 as you state). The top 3 that we announced included 4 soloists (as we do not break ties except for first) out of 11 dancers (2 dancers had more than 1 solo) which is 36% of the dancers in the junior American solo category. Our Chicago competition last season ran completely on time and was certainly an organized event. We are proud that almost all of the studios from last year are returning this year for another sell-out show in Chicago. We are sorry that you won’t be among them.
We have attended HoF several times in the past, and have always had a great experience. Judging has been consistent, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the stage and other parts of the venue have been well prepared and maintained. We are going back again this year and are looking forward to it! *My only critique is that they often run so far ahead that it\'s hard for spectators to plan when to be there.
Thank for your support and the 5-star review. We pride ourselves on our friendly and helpful staff, so thank you for making note of that! We also agree with you about running too far ahead of schedule. While we know everyone appreciates that we consistently run on-time or ahead of schedule, we also understand that running too far ahead can make it difficult for those in the audience or watching the live-stream to plan. We are working to create a balance, and, while you should continue to expect us to run up to an hour ahead of schedule, we plan not to get too far ahead of that mark during our shows. See you this season! We are looking forward to seeing you!
Great competition! well organized, especially at nationals. No evidence of favoritism yet. Helpful and good (not necessarily all positive!) feedback from the judges.
Thank you for the wonderful review! We work hard to make sure our judges give helpful, constructive feedback, and we\'re happy to hear that they have done so on their critiques of your dancers. Thanks again, and see you this season!
Great competition, it ran on time and all of the staff were very helpful! Love the video critiques!
Thank you for your kind reviews! If you have any feedback about what we can do to be even better, please email us at info@halloffamedance.com.
I love that Hall of Fame has live streams of the competition that can be watched online. My sister who lives five hours away got to watch my daughter dance live. We were also able to watch the dances and awards from home for the older girls that danced later in the evening.
We are so glad that you love the live stream! We love it, too! It\'s wonderful to hear about how family and friends from far away watch their loved ones compete via our live stream. Of course, the live stream is back in 2015.
Such a great experience. Very organized and fun!
Thank you for the kind review. We pride ourselves on being the most organized and fun competition out there, so thank you for noticing. See you this season!
HOF Dance competitions are well organized with friendly staff. The atmosphere is relaxed not stressed. We compete there every year!
Thank for your the great review! We look forward to seeing you this season!
Really enjoyed hall of fame. Awards were great, and thought everything ran smooth. The only reason I don\'t give 5 stars is because of the late nights. We will for sure go back because our studio loves them but hope they change that.
Thank you for the kind review! We are so glad you enjoyed yourself! One of the things we pride ourselves on is our organization and scheduling, which means that we very rarely run later than scheduled. When our competitions are sold-out, we try to create a schedule that works best for our dancers, their teachers, and their families. We will definitely take into account your feedback about late nights as we strive to create even better schedules in the future. Thank you again for the review.
Tough judging and really like the live feed. It\'s run really well for being so massive! Can\'t wait to go back.
Wow, thanks for the great feedback! We are so glad you enjoy the live feed. We\'re happy to be able to give family and friends out of town a chance to see their dancers in action. Thanks again.
This is the comp by which all other comps are measured. I cannot say enough good things about this comp - well run and organized, attracts top talent, good and fair judging that understands all dance styles (including tap and ballet), just an all around top notch event. Comp fees are in the high range, but they are worth it.
Really enjoyed this competition. The staff were great to work with, the judging was fair, and the competition appears to attract high caliber dancers. They DO tend to run early (like, 1-1.5 hrs ahead) so that might be an issue. As a dance teacher, I really like that they run early and manage their time well. The only negative thing I have to say about the competition is that they do not use all their award levels; it would be nice to see all 5 or 6 levels being used instead of 3. That being said, I think this has become the norm for most competitions; most dances score in one or two categories with seldom outliers. I have to disagree with the person who said they\'re just in it for the money. My studio isn\'t huge, but it\'s big enough (120 numbers), and I felt we were judged fairly--especially when we did poorly. We\'ve been to competitions where people have scored better than us and we feel it was not deserved, but that wasn\'t the case at HOF. Overall, really enjoyed my experience. 5/5 would do again, would recommend to friend
Love Hall of Fame! They treat you like family and cater to any issue that might come up. We\'ve been attending since 2007 and will continue to return.
Had sooooo much fun! I hope we go back next year
Took one dancer to a regional comp this year and she did very well, so I disagree with the reviewer that said the company was all about money. Love the positive attitudes, and two of the three judges gave helpful commentary. Ran ahead of schedule, adjudication seemed very fair, overall a great experience.
Ran late and I didn\'t understand the levels they have. They need to improve for us to attend again.
We certainly want to improve, as that is what are constantly striving for! We want to get better! However, there were no competitions during this past season that we ended the days later than scheduled. We pride ourselves on running on time and/or early! As far as the levels are concerned, we have 3: Rookie League (Recreational), National League (Intermediate), and American League (Advanced). If you\'re looking for more details, go to our website at www.halloffamedance.com where you can see a full list of our rules and guidelines. If you have any other specific feedback or ways we can improve, please email us at info@halloffamedance.com.
Have attended competitions here for 3 years... Very enjoyable experiences. Usually runs ahead of schedule (not a bad deal at all). Very professional -- lots of energy!
This was an ok competition. Unfortunately this is one of the major comps our studio attends. Somewhat overpriced. We arein 3 groups and 2 solos and it was $500 for the nationals. Would never attend on our own. Judging is very different from other comps. Male dancers are judged VERY different from female dancers. Hoping our studio reconsiders ever attending this comp.
Such a fun and amazing competition!! Love it from start to finish :)
really enjoyed this comp. love the levels love the toughness of the judges. loved the venue except for the dressing rooms, that\'s usually my biggest complaint of every single comp is never enough dressing room space. the only thing I didnt\' enjoy is that it\'s 4 days and that was way too long.
A good comp, but runs SUPER early, making it stressful for dancers and parents later in the day. Good awards ceremonies, sticks to the program.
HOF likes money and if you are a big studio with money you will do well at this comp. Otherwise you get lost in size of the comp and the in ability to do simple things like get dressing room space:(
Great experience. Very smoothly run and ran ahead if schedule! Judging seed to be right on.
Ok, but judging didn\'t seem to make sense. Gear being sold was astromical.
Tough competition for our girls but it was well organized and they stayed on time! One problem was they played \"Talk Dirty To Me\" for Petite Awards, as parents we didn\'t feel it was very appropriate for our 6-7 year olds. Other aspects of the competition were great!
Too many numbers entered in Worcester, Ma! Had two stages 2nd stage was way too small!
This is only my studio\'s second year in business and our only competition this season. My Rookie level kids had an awesome time! All of the staff was very helpful and supportive, everything ran on time or even a little early! Loved the levels of experience and training for the dancers, my kids were so inspired by all of the higher level performers! Scoring was very fair and all of my age levels received a special judges award which made them feel SO GOOD! LOVED THAT THE COMPETITION WAS STREAMED OVER THE INTERNET, had lots of grandparents and other family members cheering on my kids from states away! Overall just a wonderful experience!
Overall GREAT competition. Fair judging and scoring. Very big though - start and end times are very early and very late, respectively. I like all the differnt levels - something for everyone.
Reasonably orchestrated but too many entries for one stage. Kids started too early to have to stay so late. Adding another stage would have solved this. Staff was polite and competent. Quality dance schools attended. Judges seemed to get it right and have diversified backgrounds. Wish they had given best in category for all categories. The dancer shouldn\'t be left out because others do not enter that category? The only \"major\" disappointment was the sad, scratched up plaques they gave as awards. Pretty pathetic looking, even for specials and overalls. If trophies are too difficult to deal with medals would be a better option. Overall good experience and would go back.
We have had good years here.... but this was not one of them! They had a judge that scored really low and kept my daughter from earning her rightful award! She has never scored lower than a platinum and because the one judge was scoring a full 3-4 points lower than the other judges, she missed Platinum by .5 points! Very disappointing and disheartening. And they only award a \"best\" in category if there are five or more entries... it\'s not MY fault only four people are in the category... give the kid the award that won the category!! It\'s only fair if they scored best!!! I used to love HofF... but not so sure that I can say that after this year. :-(
Loved it. They did a great job keeping dances on time and girls very happy with the judging.
Love this competition!
HUGE competition. Programs are really expensive. Pretty strict. But awards are fun.
Hall of a Fame is a must do every year for us. We know there will excellent competition and very difficult scoring. It is always run well and scheduled as best they can consider the size of the particular event we go to.
Our studio has been to this competition before... but we\'ve never really had to deal with the poor scheduling. Most competitions look out for the welfare of the dancers, but this one clearly does not! I have a ten-year-old dancing at 10:15pm (awards mandatory for our studio starting an hour after that) and then has to be back at 6:30am the next morning! Most of the competitions we have gone to make sure the dancers are done by 10pm at the very latest, but to have a competition that clearly does not care about the well being of the dancers and schedules them so unfairly is just ridiculous. I can\'t speak to how they judge, but on a scheduling standpoint alone, they need to rethink their priorities and look out for the poor kids in situations like ours.
theres not much to say other than its always a wonderful experience
Great competition! Very organized and well run with a very nice staff. Offers live streaming that is wonderful for out of town friends and relatives. Highly recommend!
Great Competition
I\'ve been a parent and fan of dance for many years. HOF is the first time for streaming video online. The scheduling and adherence to the schedule was very good and so convenient for viewing online. Thank you HOF...! We love it. . . Parents and fans who can\'t make the trip certainly do appreciate the ability to view the entire competition (especially their own studio\'s routines/dancers). . . Absolutely, MOST EXCELLENT. . .! Keep on keepin\' on. . . (grin)
We are attending Hall of Fame Dance in 2 weeks and we don\'t even know where it\'s going to be held at, let alone a schedule. These competitions really don\'t know the event location 2 weeks before or are they withholding the information for some reason? Super inconvenient...
I can\'t ever complain about Hall of Fame. (well maybe a little) but overall I am happy with HOF. They always run like clock work. You can anticipate the schedule even before it comes out. They always run early, so as long as you know that ahead of time then you are ok. The judging seems fair. They do get over booked and hopefully they will keep an eye on this and not get greedy and keep adding more. I love that the photos and video are on display at the venue and you can view and purchase on the spot. The staff are awesome and the awards are usually fun for the kids, I also like that they do awards right after each age group so you can leave it you want to. We have not attending yet this year, so I am hoping all goes good as the years past.
The judging is hard but it makes the Platinums more meaningful. It is a full weekend, dancing late into the night but awards are straightforward and efficient. My only wish is studios would be limited in the number of routines. We saw the same dancers doing multiple routines to the point where we joked it was nice of them to let us perform in their recital. This would probably solve the issue with overly long days of competing. Love the live streaming!
I come from a small studio and still feel like we are treated like a big one. We always have a great time here. Runs on-time, friendly backstage people, well-organized etc. It\'s one of our regulars.
Hall of Fame is awesome. We are a small studio and there are many competitions out there that favor the studios with the bigger checkbook. Hall of Fame is not one of them. They are very fair. The live streaming is great for people at home to watch. I wish we could attend Worcester this year but they sold our early.
Hall of Fame is our big competition. We have been 2 years in a row and are attending in 2014. Upsides : The videography/photography is wonderful (although pricey!), the stage/lighting/sound is top notch, they have really cool swag booths that don\'t feel too pushed in your face to me. They have live streaming which is great for us! I love to get back to the hotel with my junior and watch the senior dancers from our computer! And out of town family can watch. The competition in St. Louis and Kansas City has always been fierce! I think the dances are scored very fairly. I love that there are enough numbers to do a legitimate lineup. I was very excited last year when my daughter placed in her jazz group and won overall for her junior duet! It really feels like an accomplishment with that much talent against her :) Downsides: It\'s not cheap! It\'s huge...last year we had 2 stages and 3 full days starting early at 7 am and ending at 10:30 pm...exhausting! The dressing rooms were crowded, cold, and had bad lighting last year in Kansas City, but they were great in St. Louis, so that\'s a toss up. The comp can run really early/late/out of order...but at least they try to keep everyone in the loop with text messaging.
We\'ve been to so many HOF events it is silly. They are great and worth a visit every year, or maybe more than once a year!! :) We love the judges!!
We ended up doing Hall of Fame\'s Orlando nationals a couple years ago because it happened to coincide with a trip we already had planned. Even though we were a studio of one, we were treated with the utmost respect and my daughter LOVED the classes. If they came around here more for regionals I\'m sure our entire studio would go.
Great competition...loved their Nationals!
Their scoring was all over the place, no consistency. And they ran late when the event was already scheduled to end after 11pm. Not going to try it again.
Good competition, but be prepared; they will either run ahead or behind.. NEVER on time. It is a FULL weekend of competition and starts early in the moring and runs late into the evening. Put your students where they truly belong in order for them to be judged fairly; they give you a guideline based on hours spent in the studio. You need to follow it. The judging is fair, but they expect those in the \'American League to dance like they live in the studio. They don\'t give away Platinums at the drop of a hat like other comps. Refreshing! They have a great photographer at every event; get a good action shot! Great feedback for dances and they livestream - a plus! Nationals are worth the trip!
As a dancer myself, I enjoyed this competition. The backstage managers are very friendly and helpful. They give out a lot of awards and make sure that everybody wins something. The competition is very challenging at Hall of Fame, and the \"American\" league (Advanced) is full of good competitors. They do not judge based on how many dances your studio enters, which is always a problem for me because I go as an independent soloist. The reason I gave Hall of Fame 4 stars was because of their tacky baseball rating system. The beginner level is known as \"Rookie League\", the intermediate level is the \"National League\", and the advanced level is the \"American League.\" It may be creative but it is also confusing to follow during awards. This competition is one that is worth going to.
Tried it and did not have a good experience. The people when ran it were nice, but the judging was very lacking. I think they were using dance teachers from other areas that brought a lot of dancers to them and although they may be good teachers they were not good judges. The rest of the show was substandard also, very cheap awards, they names of the categories were about other sports (not kidding, baseball or something, and thought we were at a DANCE competition) and the hosts onstage were kind of tacky. We won\'t be going back.
Nicely run event, frendly, but judging was off, lacking of experience.
Hall of Fame is top notch. Really appreciate the live streaming so family and friends can watch from afar. Only complaint is they pack the schedule and then run ahead - often way over an hour, so it can make scheduling tricky. Otherwise, think it is one of the best out there.
Love love love this competition!! It's fair, fun, and one of my favorites! Looking forward to coming back this season and for nationals!!
Been twice now...not good, will not be returning. It was basically a mess star to finish.
Always love this one! Fair judging and very well run!
We have attended Hall Of Fame since its first year and will continue to attend. It draws some of the toughest competition in our area including the top studios from "Canada". We may not be from one of the big studios, but we are always judged and treated the same. Judging is always very tough but we use the comments to prepare us for Nationals and it has become a "family reunion" of sorts to see the other studio directors as well.
Would love to attend one of their competitions, but I am afraid our students would be schedule late night. Last time I looked they were scheduleing dancers till 11:30pm or later.
Love their Nationals. They definitely have a lot of talent and good hard competition!
Hall of Fame was one of our first competitive dance experiences and I\'m so happy it was. The staff was very professional and the schedule was on time or ahead of time all weekend. I especially like their live video stream which allowed out of town family to see my daughter perform. Hall of Fame is a first class competition.
Love, love, love this competition!!! They have great judges, great talent and it is always ahead of schedule! Wonderful competition!!!
Awesome experience and very professionally run!!
Great competition. Very unbiased.
I enjoyed the competition. It ran right on time. However - I never received critiques. Contacted office about lack of critiques and was told they are behind. Nearly 2months later and I have given up.
Great comp. Always on time or ahead. Great judges.
Always one of the highlights of our season. Good judging, good studios, organized backstage staff.
This has always been my favorite comp. Fair judging, lots of studios. I only wish they really would move dances that are clearly in the wrong level (up or down). When the same dancer has been registered for 6+ yrs, they clearly are no longer national league. I\'d also say the same if a solo performer has won the overall for multiple years - they should not be permitted to stay in national league.
Lots of special awards, runs early, great venue in my area, fair to easy judging.
Love it! Very organized and studio friendly
Have always loved this comp...runs on time
