Kids aren't a fan of the staff. No real ballet teacher on staff. Judging is always iffy, and its tap teacher alays seems like hes angry to be there. Very political. Hailey Hoffman is great when she comes though.

We registered for a Revive event that was supposed to happen in February. The event ended up getting canceled, and we were informed only three days before the event was supposed to happen. Revive assured that a full refund would be sent out up to 14 days after the competition date was supposed to take place. Those 14 days went by and I did not receive anything. I had to contact revive multiple times until I got a response, and the receptionist said that there was a delay, and the owner should be saying something soon about it. Fast forward 30 days, and still no refund, but I did get a response over a month later from the owner. He said he mailed it out and it should arrive that week (middle of March). It is currently April, and I have still not received my refund for the event that NEVER HAPPENED. I have tried to contact revive privately for the past week and a half, and the owner is completely ignoring the situation, so I felt I had no other choice than to write it here. Revive, you kept our money that we paid for a convention that never happened. You stole from us, so unless we, along with all other attendees from the event receive our refunds in the next 2 weeks, expect a lawsuit.
I don't normally write things on these review sites but I wanted to give a huge shout out to the Revive crew! Our kids had an incredible weekend in Detroit. Thank you!
As a parent of two dancers, I hands down recommend REVIVE as one of mine and my dancers' all-time favorite conventions and competitions!!! Not only have my children grown up dancing competitively, but I did as well, so I have a great deal of history with everything dance!!! I walk into all conventions and competitions hoping for the best, but unfortunately, more often than not, walking away with more negative experiences than positive. This is absolutely not the case with REVIVE. From the moment we arrived Friday morning until the time we left Sunday evening, the entire experience was phenomenal!!! For the first time in quite a while, my dancers left energized and inspired from a convention. The teachers are some of the best dance educators I've witnessed, truly taking the time to nurture and educate their students and each other!!! How often do you see convention teachers taking classes? NEVER!!! At REVIVE I couldn't help by smile watching so many teachers taking their peers classes and truly being in the moment and enjoying being a student. It was such a beautiful thing to witness. That right there shows how much this faculty truly loves, supports, and respects each other. The competition aspect of the weekend was just as eye-opening for not only me but my dancers. It's definitely a trend these days to see the majority of studios that "win" use that convention's faculty; however, this absolutely wasn't the case with REVIVE!!! I feel they had the most fair and non-political judging I've witnessed all year. I'm so looking so forward to attending multiple REVIVE conventions next year with my girls. I will continue to support a convention & competition that believes in everything REVIVE represents!!! BRAVO REVIVE!!! Thank you for what was the best weekend of our year!!!
We just did Revive during Mother's Day weekend. Obvious favoritism with one studio, and every single person age 8-18 on the advanced team from that studio got some kind of scholarship. I heard only the ones apprenticing or on the Intermediate team but attending (Reads: who are not going to the 2018 nationals with the studio) didn't get scholarship even though some of them are better dancers than the some on the company. I heard whoever placed crew was so random- not placed in the genre that matches the dancer's strength. Looked like they got list of who to place on crew. In the junior room, ballet/contemporary top dancer from that studio made hip hop crew, and kids who got cut at the final round of audition (right below crew. which would've been runner ups or finalist from other convention) from other studios didn't get a single scholarship, while all the studio kids got something even when they didn't make the first round of anything or got called out. People said it was as if they were given a list who get scholarships and who don't from that studio. Hope our studio never does it again. Now I see why the other 2 of our town's 3 mega studios were not there. They had a technique class that required rollers, balls, bands, etc. but it was never communicated before, or posted anywhere. And juniors had no ballet class. Teens and seniors had ballet taught by a contemporary teacher, who always taught contemporary or jazz at Adrenaline. Hands down the worst convention we attended past 5 years. We do NYCDA, Nuvo, Jump, 24Seven, The Dance Awards and Adrenaline. I know they are with Adrenaline, but the teacher line up is not as good. The audition combo was taught and judged by a former senior title winner (very young, but very talented) and who happens to be the choreographer for the favorite studio which signed up for the Nationals. Way to leave a convention workshop feeling my weekend was wasted and my kid learning how dance competition is money making business. Read parents' reviews. We are the ones paying to make this competition stay in business, not the studio owners.
Review Removed - Violation of Terms of Use
Not sure why my review was removed. Interestingly, most of the negative reviews were removed. That is really shady and goes to show you that all of those negative reviews about Revive being just as political as Adrenaline and playing favorites with the studios who hire their teachers and have in studio conventions and intensives, are all true.
Revive Dance Convention and Competition is a very well managed dance event! Here are a few of the top things we really enjoyed about the weekend last season. 1. Competition- we love the competition part of Revive! We will always know that the judges are well rounded in the industry as well as qualified to be giving our kids critiques. We have been judged fairly and have scored from golds to ultimate platinum. Our kids have received great critiques that helped them improve as they stepped into nationals. We also LOVE the reverse schedule of competition. With the competition in the mornings and classes in the afternoons our kids enjoy not being tired after classes all day and then having to get make-up, hair ready, and then compete. This also guarantees no late night competition on Saturday. 2. Classes- the classes at Revive are challenging, diverse, professional, and most of all fun! My kids came out of each class feeling as though they were pushed, motivated and inspired not only with choreography but with life lessons for experiencing the industry and in the day to day life. 3. Faculty- The faculty is one of a kind. I have been to many conventions out there and have met a lot of teachers and I have to say the teachers at Revive are simply great humans. They are both professional as well as down to earth and personable. They expect a lot from the kids in class. As a teacher, ?we want to send our kids where they will be pushed to their limits but at the same time treated as if they were one of their own students. All around this is a great place to take your kids. Whether you are a small or a large studio, your kids will love the experience and come back to the studio inspired and ready to work hard!
Nothing but 5 stars to this amazing convention. Being in business for 25 years we have had plenty of opportunity to try various conventions and while different conventions have different things to offer this one is great in every way. The staff truly loves to teach and passes on a unique passion and inspiration in every class. They all are unique in every style and have so much to offer as teachers. My students left completely inspired. We loved the competition because of the amazing critiques. Compared to the many different competitions we go to we received top of the line critiques that pushed our kids to the next level and were helpful in many ways. WE loved the bonus classes and the flip flop schedule on Saturday letting the kids compete first and others that weren't competing sleep in a little bit. The show at the end of the weekend was fun, the opportunity to dance with the crews was wonderful . The judging was so on spot with seeing the best in technical dancers and even in hiphop, tap, contemporary , every single genre which isn't found in most competitions. My dancers were excited to perform /compete for the teachers verses random judges that have no qualifications and every studio seemed to be rewarded no matter if they were big or small. Loved everything about this convention!!!It's top notch and studio owners should put it on your calendar.
Thank you luvs2dance for the humbling review! It means a lot to us that you notice the passion from our Faculty members not only during their classes but while they are judging/critiquing as well. We strive to encourage dancers to be well rounded, and happy that you and your dance family enjoyed the diversity. Our event is created with our clients best interest in mind, the fact that you noted so many different aspects of your experience in this review, truly is humbling. Again, thank you for taking the time to share you thoughts, and we look forward to seeing you and your dance family again in the future. - The Revive Team
I was so impressed with Revive Dance Convention in Provo! The faculty was incredible and took a real interest in teaching and inspiring the dancers. The administrative team was awesome. They genuinely listened to feedback and took the time to get to know the teachers and directors of each studio. The thing I loved best about Revive is the feeling there. It was so positive! My dancers and I left that weekend feeling good, loving dance and wanting to get back in the studio to continue working and growing. Thanks for a great weekend Revive!
We have nothing but great feedback for this convention and competition. The faculty is so so caring and truly inspires camaraderie in each room...our dancers have made friends across the country at Revive and Adrenaline and that is due, in large part, to the atmosphere created by the faculty and staff. The competition always runs smoothly and the staff is very helpful. All faculty and staff interact with the dancers and their families to make our weekends truly like visiting your out of town family. Our dancers will tell you it is their favorite weekend of the year and we are looking forward, once again, to the National Dance Honors in Vegas.
Thank you Iv2tchdnc for such a kind review. We are so happy to hear that you and your dancers enjoy your weekend with the Revive family! The team could not be more grateful for you sharing your thoughts. We look forward to spending time together at the National Dance Honors and are humbled by your support. - The Revive Team.
I SO wanted to love this convention and competition! I am giving it 2 stars because the classes were good, but the judging was poor. If you are looking for pretty decent classes at a convention, you may enjoy Revive. Our girls did not want to stay for the second day though. If you want fair scoring, go elsewhere. Numerous parents and studio owners are saying the same thing. Our very strong technical dancers are being scored up to 20 points below what other well-respected competitions have been scoring them all season long. I probably would have given a better review though IF the director would have simply conceded that there is something questionable about that. I am sure there are many great people associated with Revive, and I wish them all the best. We won't be back though.
Hi sof02! Thank you for joining us in Houston and we appreciate your feedback. Revive is a unique convention unlike many others, so it is almost impossible to compare scores from events that have different dancers, judges, procedures, score ranges, and criteria. We take great care to be consistent with our scores based on each city. Although the score wasn't what you expected, we are glad your dance family enjoyed the diverse classes. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts, the Revive Team
Would be higher but Maddi Burg was AWFUL! Denver Mini Room review: This is a new convention and it ran very smoothly, there were many optional classes available. Competition was on time and scored fairly. Most of the teachers were great and the variety of styles was good, even including ballroom. BUT ... the teacher Maddi Burg who taught the audition combo was honestly terrible with the younger ones, mixed level room about 7 to 11. The combo was excessively long and probably half of the room tuned out after 8 counts of 8 realizing as she continued to add that they had little chance to keep up well enough to shine at the audition. This was also the 2 hour time slot leading into dinner so energy levels were waning a bit! Her manner was joyless, no enthusiasm and a lot of criticism. There was no line up for pictures with her as you always see when young kids enjoy classes! On Sunday's last class which she also taught, instead of having any fun, she insisted on going through the combo AGAIN because on Sat it wasn't up to her standards, some kids took the chance to pack up and go home for the weekend instead of sticking around for another hour of torture! AND she yelled at people for not going FULL OUT at 3:30 on Sunday in a room where her combo couldn't even be done that way due to overcrowding. Unfortunately, I would not return to Revive if this teacher is still on the tour, any positives from the weekend are completely negated -- as sadly that's what's remembered looking back. I wouldn't attend a master class from this person for free, so why pay to torture my child again next time when there are so many other great conventions that come to Denver!
Hi DanceMomCO! Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. We value the feedback of each and every attendee at our events. As stated in your review, we offer a wide variety of class genres. It is nice to know they are appreciated. Additionally, thank you for your positive comments on our event running smoothly and our competition scoring being fair. Those are certainly wonderful attributes that we take pride in. As for your constructive feedback, we are sorry to hear that your dancer had the experience that she did. We are aware of the conditions that contributed to it and will consider your thoughts moving forward. We believe in educating and fostering the future generation of dance artists. We try to learn from each event and are proud to see the growth in our team members from one city to the next. Wishing you the best, Revive Dance Convention
We just finished Revive competition and convention. It was great! Competition was well organized and on time. Judging seemed excellent to me. The speakers were fuzzy with static, so they need to be adjusted somehow. The convention classes were an hour long, rather than 45 minutes and my daughter liked that because she could learn a combo and then perform it several times. The faculty and classes were all good. We were extra impressed that the faculty, including Jen Freeman, took classes with the students to continue to improve themselves. The teachers did very few "pull-out" groups during class with the exception of Tap and Musical Theater. My DD loves being pulled out, so that is a negative in her book. The Teen/Senior auditions were for Contemporary and Musical Theater. They also offered four "pre" classes before convention started, and we always appreciate that extra instruction. They offered a "Prevention of Dance Injuries" class for parents, and we thought that was classy. I was surprised that the Teen/Senior room still had 200 kids in it, I thought since this was the first year of Revive it would be smaller. Never our lot at Denver conventions! My DD got a nice scholarship, so we were thrilled and will go back.
Hi dmjrm4! Thank you for our first review! We appreciate that you recognized our diverse classes, organized competition, and dedication to educating the dancers. We were aware of the sound issues and have fixed the issue. Thank you for your feedback and congratulations to your dancer and her scholarship! We hope to see you at Adrenaline and Revive in the future! Best, Ken
