Attended Dance Out in Kansas City last weekend. What a fun experience for my dancers, staff and parents. 2 stages and we still felt "seen". The owner interacted with the teachers which is always nice. The Teacher's Lounge with breakfast and lunch was amazing and so appreciated. Pros: 1.Fun and uplifting competition. 2. Well run and on time if not a few minutes early. The lady in the office was always so nice in answering our endless questions 3. Judging was fair and a bit tough but I like that the awards were not all the same adjudication level. Judge 1 (male) gave some of the best and detailed critiques I have heard in a while. A lot of things we can apply in class. Other judges gave good feedback and were positive as well. 4. The dance off was great and such a good experience for my advanced dancers as weil as less advanced dancers. The owner was so encouraging. Cons: 1. Dressing rooms were a little dark, but the were in a convention hall 2. Parking was not the best at this venue. 3. It would have been nice to give all members of duo, trios and groups the adjudication medals so parents do not have t purchase them. 4. Videos were given for free but the sound quality was not great. Overall this was a top notch competition and we will be back. I highly recommend giving them a try.

I wanted to thank you for the way you ran your competition. Everyone was so encouraging and nice. Your judges (Josh, Elizabeth, and Keanu) gave excellent critiques and with tact. All of our kids said that the judges were smiling and getting into it with them, which made them so much more comfortable. I know your judges know how much that helps kids and keeps them loving dance. Last year we went to a competition elsewhere and many of our kids were in tears when they heard the comments. I know the judges have a job to do and that they need to know what to fix, but these judges (last year, not your's - just to clarify) were downright mean. My kids were discouraged after that and so nervous to get back on stage. I cannot thank you all enough for bringing back that confidence in my children. Please pass this on to whoever was there and helped in Topeka. You were all fantastic and I would gladly bring my children back to a competition with you! People like you show children that they can do whatever they set their minds to. If I had any suggestions it would be maybe pins for their jackets instead of the dog tag necklaces? Just a personal preference!
Thank you so much for your kind words. We have noted your suggested for pins instead of dog tags! We hope you will be joining us for Nationals this summer.
We love Dance Out, but Phil needs to really shorten his awards ceremony.
Thank you for your comments! We appreciate the feedback.
We always have a fun at Dance Out. A very upbeat and positive experience!
Thank so much for taking time to post your thoughts! We love what we do and appreciate our patrons. Looking forward to seeing you soon.
My grandson did this Competition for years and it was always a good one. Looking forward to seeing my great grand daughter compete at Dance Out this year. Wonderful experience every time.
My kids always have a great time. Mr. Phil is a hoot and the staff is always friendly. Like the family friendly feel to this. My favorite part is the parents dance off at the nationals. Look forward to that each year. Might get the nerve to participate this year.
DanceDad66 thank you for your kind words. We love what we do! The parent Dance Out Challenge is also one of our favorite moments too! You should give it a try this year. Look forward to seeing you soon
Dance Out is one of my favorites. The kids always have so much fun! It's well run and fair. Judges critiques are good. Only one tiny complaint...would like the awards ceremonies to be a tad shorter. It is a positive atmosphere. Overall I highly recommend it.
Thanks so much Danceteacher85! We truly want to make it an amazing experience for all! We hear you about the awards ceremonies and appreciate the feedback. Hope we see you soon.
This is a small competition, so it doesn\'t have some of the bells and whistles as other bigger competitions, but it is one where you get to know the other competitors, judges, and people running it. My daughter loved this competition, because she truly enjoyed it all. The master class after the competition was exhausting after competing the whole weekend, but the people they had were amazing.
This competition plays favorites. We as a studio did well generally, however, scoring was VERY quesionable and judges feedback was basically non-existant. We won't go back
Nice low key competition. The director is great at making the kids feel special. Runs on time.
