Omg....we just attended their Nationals in Panama City. My son...I am a studio owner..danced his solo at 11:50am on Saturday. The stage was so hot he suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns on his feet. The director Karen tried to explain they asked 4 other kids if it was hot and they said no....ummm his burns prove differently. Ran behind, not safe, she has favorites, her stage manager complained to us over and over about other teams. It\'s so unprofessional. We will not ever go. IT\'S NOT SAFE!! My son finds out tomorrow if he will require surgery. She has yet to call and check on him. Only person ruder was her daughter who works there too. Omg it was horrendous.

Worst experience ever. We actually witnessed a studio bribing judges with cupcakes. Completely unprofessional and very biased toward a studio that was from the same area as Karen. Not being a poor loser bc our studio actually did very well. Actually, all studios did very well bc they all received the same judgement of double platinum, except for a rare few elite platinum. Cheap quality medals that don\'t even list the award received just the year. The title winners didn\'t even receive a jacket this year. Also, the whole thing was an hour and a half behind schedule. I don\'t believe we will return to this competition again.
We have attended at the regional and National level. Although I enjoyed the National competition due to the location the year we went and that the kids actually danced on a stage on the beach... the competition itself leaves alot to be desired. I do not say this because I was bitter by any means because my children recieved alot of recognition and awards every time we have gone. It is poorly organized... lots of mistakes... runs well over expected times... always has either run out of awards or the right placards to go on the awards... just too much chaos for me... I rather spend my competitive money elsewhere!
Worst experience, 2 years in a row. Too many problems to list. Save yourself the headache and stay away!
Had a terrible experience there and will never go back. When we went the competition got four hours behind and that\'s not an exaggeration at all! They had one person running everything sound, DJing, it was ridiculous!! Never again will I take my team back to that competition. There was also an issue of payment and we were charged twice for entry fees. Very unprofessional and my parents were super unhappy with everything!
Disorganized. Getting smaller so barely any competition. Nationals is too early (held in April)
The absolute worst competition I have attended in 27 year! The owner Karen is extremely rude and not open to your comments. Never again!
What a joke! I would like to state that I\'m not a bitter competitor. We scored very well at this competition, taking home many of the overall prizes. However, they have an announcer who walks out on stage and introduces Every. Single. Dance. Along with Every. Single. Dancer. in each dance. Of course she can\'t get the names right but she keeps trying, asking audience members for help pronouncing it. As you can imagine, we see much more of her than dances during the weekend. It is the longest weekend with the least amount of dances. It\'s ridiculous. Also, they hired local judges for the competition. 2 of the 3 judges were teachers at a LOCAL studio. Neither were qualified. This competition needs to hang up its trophies and be done.
This is a great competition for beginning dancers. They have nice trophies for all dancers. They also just added some judge’s trophies. They do take their time with the schedule and seem to skimp on the production side but the entry fees are low. You do have to pay to get in and for the program though. It is great how Carol has a bon fire and party at nationals making it more personal than some other dance competitions.
We\'ve attended DMI for 3 years and will not return. Our first year was acceptable, but the past 2 have gotten worse. The schedule was not followed, you could perform when you were ready. 2 years ago they ran hours behind, with no explanation. Everyone receives the same award level (98%) so there is no curve. There was no dressing space, not even for our small group of 13. The sound technician STOPPED our music while our dancers were still dancing off. So obvious that the stage manager noticed it. And in another routine, they sound was turned down at the start of the music that our dancers did not hear the first 16 counts until they corrected their mistakes. Very amateurish.
