It’s my opinion that this comp could possibly be rigged. When all 11 dancers place 1-11 from the same studio in that division it can’t help but raise red flags in your mind. Looking things up and it appears this studio attends EPIC every year. We came to EPIC years ago and they had really nice awards but have gotten cheap on that side of things. This was a very weird comp to say the least. They had a cowbell they rang for what they called EPIC moment award but they were very stingy with giving those out as well when the only thing they give you is a really small banner. The male judge favored tap and it was apparent because he handed out several of those. We had this comp lined up as a choice for nationals but are pulling out and going with our other option. This comp was bizarre to say the least. The venue was decent and they served food but you had to pay for parking and also for the live feed. Seems EPIC has gotten greedy and has just become another one of those comps that want your money.

Epic dance showcase has become a complete joke. The staff are extremely rude, they talk to the studio owners like they trash. They pray before each competition, which is great but if you going to talk the talk they need to walk the walk and they don’t! If you are not favored or pay the most money just consider a loss. The convention was a joke and overly PACKED! The competition we just went to was the same rigged crap! Same judges EVERY SINGLE TIME. 100% of my parents and staff truly despise Epic. Save your money and pick another competition. Also the venue was a DUMP!
We have attended this convention 4 yrs total with the exception of 2020 since they cancelled due to Covid. We absolutely loved this convention from the start and it was definitely one of our favorites to attend. No more! I have no idea what happened this year in Charlotte. The rooms were so packed the kids could barely move. To top that off, they were constantly being told to space out and yelled at by the cheer teacher and the jazz teacher. Where on earth were they supposed to go when they were piled in like sardines on top of each other? I witnessed multiple kids getting kicked. The lyrical teacher Jim taught the same combo that he taught a few years ago at Epic. What???? The hip hop teacher taught some jazz combo instead of hip hop. The end was the biggest disappointment of all as the teachers were only allowed to hand out two scholarships when there were 3 rooms total for each group. How cheap can you get Epic? This was by far the worst Epic convention ever and we will never return after this year. Save your money! My guess is they were trying to recoup from their loss last year. Sad sad sad!
Went to Nationals in Gatlinburg, TN. Loved the event and was treated very well. Would recommend EPIC to all dance studios.
Attended the Spartanburg regional in May. The comp itself was fine. Small, I'd guess less than 20 studios, but fine. The issue I have is with the way they post the results on the website. Scores aren't included, the overalls aren't listed, and the dances are broken out completely different than how awards are distributed. Heck, they don't even list the studio names! It would be nice to be able to tell how a dance compares to the overall winner, especially in a category where only 1st place was awarded at the comp. My dancer hasn't gotten her judges critiques yet, but unless the feedback is incredibly insightful, and let's be honest... that's unlikely, I'll be voting to skip this one next year.
We have done this competition and convention for the last couple of years. It keeps growing, which is fantastic. We enjoy this competition every year, and the convention as it is easy to move around and dance instead of being packed in a room like so many other conventions. The only issue we had is that they rearranged the schedule so that the older girls could go to prom (that was very thoughtful of them, and was not the issue). The issue was that they had the younger girls dance Saturday night and only had 1 awards for 11 am - 9 pm. It made it a very long day for the little ones that danced at 11 am. Maybe adding another awards earlier would have helped.
Loved this competition , very thoughtful and fairly judged. Only negative thing I would say is at the nationals they focused much more on the title winners than on the actual dance winners. Everyone is there for dance and I think a lot of attention was put on title. I also don\'t think that\' a participant who does not compete in elite should be eligible for diamond awards. Several groups recieved diamond but we\'re not elite.. Small things but wanted to share.
We did both their convention in the fall, and their competition in the spring. This is such a great organization! Teachers at the convention were great with the kids, and the staff was friendly. The competition was amazing! They made it about the kids, the backstage staff helped move props, and even helped me with my daughter\'s solo prop getting it in and out of my car. They really care about the whole experience, and the judging and awards are great.
Every aspect of our experience at Epic Dance Showcase was excellent. From registration to awards, this organization has thoughtfully planned each detail from numerous angles. The organizers have gone above and beyond to be fair and flexible with scheduling. The pace of the competition was smooth. Very little downtime, yet no dancers appeared to be rushed or hurried on and off the stage. The event ran about 30-45 minutes early. The judges were clearly focused on each performance. So much so that they didn\'t introduce the next dancer until each judge was completely finished with scoring and remarks. Just that small amount of time was enough to communicate that dancers had the judges\' fully attention. The judges were lively and engaged. No matter the age or ability level, they appeared interested in each performance and in giving constructive feedback. While I was in the dressing room helping my daughter dress, my husband noticed a young dancer freezing on stage mid performance. He described how the 3 judges immediately began cheering and encouraging this child to continue dancing, thus helping this dancer regain composure and finish the dance. Very powerful moment to witness. The dress rooms were thoughtfully arranged. Each studio/independent dancer had a designated area with welcome treats, a mirror, and a personalized board with a very nice message for dancers to consider. Throughout the event, a staff member brought water around for dancers in the dressing room. She stopped to check on dancers/moms and encouraged/complimented dancers. She clearly had had many years as a dance mom/grandmom herself and knew just want to say to put people at ease. As a result of this careful planning and considerable thoughtfulness, the general vibe among the dancers and studios was amazing. Awards were smooth and fair. The emcee did a great job with games and introductions. Beautiful photography too! Absolutely top notch organization in every way imaginable.
We went this year to EPIC regionals and nationals and we had a great time! This was my favorite Nationals so far (4th competition year). Their master classes are really high quality. Judges were constructive and had great feedback with voice recordings. Additionally they were really watching and into the dancing. Their opening number for nationals that all diamond competitors from regionals got to perform in was absolutely amazing.
This was an excellent ran competition. I had more fun as a parent. The EPIC staff did a wonderful job allowing the parents to entertain to allow the judges a break. Afterwards, the critiques were honest and sincere.
Love this company!!! Fresh, new, cutting edge!!
