PLATINUM PERFORMING ARTS COMPETITION

Apr 08 2019

Nothing but positive things to say: well run, on time, great owners who are responsive to any of your needs as an owner, very fair adjudications, great venue, nice scheduling, not overly crowded but still a healthy amount of competition..I could go on and on. My dancers loved this competition from the awards to the performances and we will DEFINITELY be back!

A decent competition, best for smaller studios. The last few years we have found out just days before competing that there were only 2-3 other studios competing with us which was a bit of a let down as we enjoy when there is a healthy amount of groups in each category. Because of that they condensed the competition into 1 day which has both pros and cons. It made for a hectic day were the competition ran behind, students had no breaks, and categories ran out of order which I believe effects the integrity of the category scoring (vs. seeing the dancers back to back). Pros - we got our Friday and Sunday night back. Attended nationals as well and our students enjoyed the overall experience.

Not our favorite competition, but a decent, smaller competition. The programs weren't ready the day of the competition. Each school was asked upfront if they planned to attend nationals. The schools who planned to attend nationals tended to score better at regionals. Judges comments weren't helpful: there weren't many comments about technique or performance; instead there were negative comments about the color lipstick our students wore (a dark rose color, as opposed to the "traditional" bright red). There were very few comments overall. We didn't like the way the stage was set up, with the ballroom floor facing just the judges, and the audience (teachers, parents) pushed to the sides of the space. There was no way for an audience member to get a "front" view. The venue is gorgeous.

We attended the competition at Arlington (MA) High School May 16-17. Everything about this competition was great. Although both days wound up a little behind, they worked very hard to keep it on schedule. Everyone was unfailingly pleasant, prices were reasonable for snacks, programs, water, and photos, and the judging was fair. We will definitely ask our studio director to return!

Although they ran about an hour behind-awards finished at 12:30AM..in their defense it was a one day comp. Other than that, they were spot on with awards and they catered to the families with having affordable snacks, water and clothing selections. Would like to attend again.

I wouldn\'t suggest attending this comp if you have a large studio. Last year we signed up only to be cancelled on a week prior to the event. Then we attended a different venue and did now have a good time. Now I\'m not bad talking the comp, I just think it is more meant for recreational small studios. I understand they are very new and its a few dance moms running it and I give them credit trying to start a company in such a saturated market. The woman who run it are very sweet and I hope them the best but I just will Not attend again. Sorry guys.
