I went to DancerPalooza in 2016 and did the jazz funk/hip hop intensive Bobby's Beat Camp intensive. The classes were great and even though I felt challenged and out of my element at times, everything I learned from the Bobby's Beat Camp instructors was infused into my choreography style and since then, my skills as a choreographer have evolved and that has led to me getting more teaching jobs at studios and other events. In addition, the crash course classes were fantastic and I seriously felt like I learned a lot from the amazing and inspiring faculty at the event. My experience at DancerPalooza was absolutely amazing and one I will never forget. If you are ever handed the opportunity to attend via scholarship, take it! I promise you will NOT regret it!

Tap Dogs...when you were great. Have been attending Slide over the years...and the event has changed dramatically once it left NY and headed west to Long Beach. The venue for the actual Slide performance needs to change. No doubt about it. The experiment with 2016 and the convention center was a failure in my opinion. You need to move it back to the 2015 facility...or elsewhere that gives it the presence it is due. The staff in Mike, Anthony, Ayodele, & Jason...you are paying them well right?! They are Slide...they are the reason people come to Long Beach...Long Beach of all places...please ensure you are taking care of them. The "event" of dancerpalooza is what it is...massive...I get that students can attend and take classes of all disciplines...from all manner of instructors...but it is too massive in what it is...perhaps culling it back and having the individual disciplines more focused/specific...or even taking dancerpalooza on a "tour" around the country...having it in a different city each summer....LA (west coast)...Dallas...Chicago...Atlanta...NY...Miami...make it an event.... All that aside...make each specific event....like Slide...great again....
My daughter absolutely LOVED this convention. She attended the Circus Party group and the instructors were incredible! She loved it so much that she wants to go back!
We have gone for the past 2 years to this convention and LOVE ❤️ it !! The opportunities to have multiple classes with amazing teachers is just unprecedented. The shows at night are spectacular, do the girls can really get an experience of what their hard work can look like as a career. The organizers do a great job in making a large convention feel intimate. However, the year they had Miss Kimmie as lead of \"pool party\" was by far the best experience he my 4 years as a dancemom and my daughter still talks about how fabulous that was. Excellent week if dance, intense. Also great all around experience with all the dance brands and fun contents.
LOTS of hype, so we tried it last year. Quite disappointing.
This comp is great!
My daughter had the opportunity to attend Dancerpalooza in August 2016 in Long Beach, CA with a Hip Hop Scholarship she received from Ivan Koumaev at the NUVO Dance Convention in March 2016, in Chicago. She chose to attend \"Circus Party\" because of her age and the variety of genres that intensive would focus on. They had many amazing and inspiring guest choreographers from \"Break The Floor\" for their classes each day. They also had fun activities planned each afternoon/evening for them. It was extremely organized and very well run. She learned so much, made new friends and had a great time! This is worth every penny even without a scholarship, if you\'re considering attending. We plan to do it again with or without another scholarship!
What an amazing experience for dancers. My daughter attended Pool Party and the way in which the teachers worked so hard to inspire the dancers and give them an amazing experience was wonderful. We are planning on going again this summer! Would like to see some screens on the sides of the room though for the 12 and under room so that the kids in the back are able to see what is going on. It\'s really hard on a younger/smaller dancer who is getting pushed to the back by the very tall kids who crowd up front.
A perfect ending to the competition season! My dancer won a scholarship at NUVO & another at 24SEVEN last year. Even if she wins nothing this year, this event in Long Beach is worth the money & the trip. I wish it had been around when I was dancing. We can\'t wait for DancerPalooza 2016!
This is a very well organized event. The behind the scenes staff has done a wonderful job at housing so many dancers under one roof and keeping everything so organized. My hats off to them for providing this dancing event! My only complaint is waiting until the week prior to the event for information needed (things to bring, etc) to the specific intensive.
This is the ultimate in Dance Conventions in fact it\'s more. I have two daughters that received scholarships to attend so as a family we went and it was a week to remember! Such an amazing opportunity for them hey definitely kept busy with classes and other activities offered throughout the week but both were eager to attend every day and sad when the week was over. We saw a lot of growth in both girls from their time at Dancerpalooza if we could attend every year we would! The only downfall was that it is only in long beach making it not as affordable for those living further away. When you look at prices for a typical weekend convention and what is included verse the week long Dancerpalooza event and what is included it\'s definitely a great price but we live in Michigan so the cost for travel to California makes it not as affordable for us to attend regularly. While there all of the other parents we met from the east coast all said if it wasn\'t for the scholarship they would never have even came because of the cost with traveling. My daughters fundraised to help pay for the fees not covered by their scholarships which helped a lot. That is the only downfall with our experience and like I said if we could afford to we would go every year.
It was a great experience and I had a fun time!! I got a scholarship from Nuvo last year and I hope I come again this year!!
We only attended the crash course portion of this event, but it was clearly a well attended event with many amazing participant as well as faculty members. My complaint, and the reason for only 3 stars, is that out of the many, many classes that we participated in, ONLY ONE teacher did any kind of warm up. For whatever reason, each teacher came into the room and immediately started teaching choreography - NO warm up, NO technique, NO across the floor!! We were unable to fully participate in certain classes as we were unprepared for no warm ups being given.
Pool Party had amazing instructors and Miss Kim did a fabulous job organizing the intensive. Teaching self-esteem to young dancers was a bonus! The only negative was too many dancers in a small space. Dancers couldn\'t see the instructors feet and didn\'t have room to dance :(
25 live and Slide were just fantastic!! The faculty is all good especially Anthony and Mike.
What an amazing few days so far! Great energy and unbelievable instructors. Totally worth the trip to Cali!
Fantastic! My daughter loved it! They were very organized, and it seemed like there were a lot of options to choose from when the kids went to do the \"Crash Course\" classes.
My daughter absolutely loved it. The schedule kept changing which was really frustrating for us parents though (the ones who pay the money and drive the kids). The changing schedule made for very long commuting days. If they can nail down the schedule better it would have been 5 stars.
Amazing! The classes we taught by some of the most inspirational teachers I\'ve ever taken from.
This was a very exciting summer intensive. Well worth the money. Top name choreographers. Very well organized and run. A must for everyone.
