This started out bad. I requested a family dressing room and was placed in a room by a very nice lady. *( I expressed I could not do stairs and had both sex children competting) after unpacking all my stuff ,the owner of the competition knocked on door and informed me I could not stay there it was for boys only. Ok I ask is there another room we can use on this floor because I really can't run up down steps she cut me off and said I'm the owner I'm 62 years old and I do it and walked away. I was not even given a chance to explain my personal situation. So I moved to the down stair dressing room and did what I could. Now moving on, we started competition 1/2 late, my daughter is in 14 routines and was told the back to back changes would not effect her or any of our studios routines but that was not the case, Judges were announcing no one was ready for us to get checked in our dancers were running around crazy trying to change with no time. The judges were so bias giving no one in our studio their so called ROAR award ,when our studio was obviously high scoring. We felt as tho we were just the fill in for another studio they preferred. They closed down food and drinks long long before we were done. Awards were a joke. Even running 2 1/2 hours behind, not doing awards telling everyone to go to awards table in the hall to pick up their awards but continued their money grab for dance offs and title while we wait for over alls. They were so unorganized, handing out the wrong awards and then having dancers bring them back to figure out what award they were suppose to get. If your routine wasn't lyrical or contemporary you weren't recognized. This was the WORST competition I've ever attended in 8 years. I will never attend a WILD ABOUT DANCE competition again. The venue was beautiful but not a great place for a competition. The owner of this competition is lost and should withdraw her role in the dance world.

Very unprofessional and unknown/unqualified judges. Another studio clearly had some type of special relationship with the staff. They were allowed to put all of their numbers on whenever they wanted. They were constantly putting on numbers that weren’t scheduled to go on for hours while dancers that were ready and on time were forced to wait backstage. This resulted in dancers from my studio (and probably others) having many quick changes because there may have been 6 or 7 numbers between dances but those numbers had all been permitted to dance ahead of you. Even after many quick changes throughout the day, only dances from my studio were left at the end and had to rush around to dance back to back to back. At least 12 of our numbers had to go back to back at the end. No surprise that the “favored” studio was given several questionable placements in overalls and received the highest scoring adjudication for acts that were noticeably inferior to other acts that scored in the lower category. Also, one of the “title” winners from the favored studio had already posted online prior to the competition that she was “Miss Wild About Dance 2019.” Really???? I think this entire event was basically a scam.
Really bad experience.
.
STAY AWAY!! Our competition team was scheduled to attend their weekend Atlantic City competition in March, 2018. The studio entered 29 dances totaling over 10K. After several attempts by phone and email to contact the competition for the schedule, they notified our studio 3 days prior to event to tell us that the competition was now a ONE DAY, 3 HOUR event with a total of 36 numbers!! Which 29 of them were our studio. The families put out a lot of money to attend this competition along with booking hotels. Needless to say we did not attend. They refused to refund us. THE WORST experience ever!!!!
Where to start? The judges are unqualified and literally ran out of the venue before awards. One studio brought most of the numbers in the competition and surprise, they won every award! (Literally, every "special award", every high score, every title award) Dance routines that literally ran off stage crying "I forgot my dance" we scored high platinum in the intermediate division. Face planting on a back handspring can earn you a diamond in the ADVANCED junior division. It's a hot mess and not worth the money. If you don't belong to the huge studio with all the routines, you might as well stay home because you will not place. We had dancers that won Nuvo, won dancemakers, won starquest, won rising star, won dance masters and literally DNP at wild about dance.
My studio attended this event last season. We are excited to attend again this season. All of my dancers, staff and parents had a great time. The judging was fair and the awards were great. Looking forward to attending this season.
Competition ran extremely behind with long pauses in between dances. Their program was so small you couldn't even read it and ran out of order anyways so no clue what dance was coming up next. Very disorganized. Venue changed weeks before the competition to a different location 45 minutes away.
Competition went well and judges were good
Our studio attended WADC for the 1st time this past weekend. For a new competition, it ran very well. With very few schools in attendance, they did a good job with scheduling. Unfortunately, the dressing room was extremely far away from the stage entrance. That ate up a lot of time between dances just getting back and forth to the dressing room. There was another school there that had a dressing room right next to the stage. That room should have been left open for quick changes and all studios should have shared one common dressing area. At the end of the event, it was all of our studio dances in line to go, back to back. I can assure you that we did everything possible to get our kids changed and back on stage as quick as humanly possible. By allowing other schools to jump ahead, that left our dancers with no time to change between dances, take a drink, sit or even pee. A quick change area would have helped and I would hope fellow dance moms/studio owners would understand that these kids did not want to hold up a competition to change. They are there to dance! Lastly at the end of every comp, win or lose, it is a tradition to do ring around the rosie. The saying is WE all fall down, not they all fall down. Overall a good comp with great potential! Nice staff and fair judges.
This past weekend our studio attended Wild About Dance Competition. For the most part the competition ran very smoothly. The first day we were over an hour ahead of schedule. That was amazing since many competitions tend to run behind schedule. One thing that I found confusing was the schedule ran out of order so it was hard to keep track of which dances were competing against each other for overall scores. On the second day, we were again running about 1 hour ahead of schedule however, one studio had 4 dances remaining at the end and those 4 dances had all the same performers. Their students are not trained in quick changes as we waited about 20 minutes for each number to change. Once we waited 20 minutes for a soloist. There was no regard for the other studios, judges or the competition staff. We were at the mercy of this studio to change and they simply took their own sweet time. Contrary to the post below which comes from ignorance and arrogance, all of the studios and the independent dancers performed beautifully at this competition. Our studio received a few titles and we placed in the Overalls many times. The other studios and independent dancers also placed in the Overalls and received titles. I have been wondering why a studio that \"believes\" they are superior would enter a competition that they were \"told\" would have \"terrible\" studios attending? You have to wonder where the ignorance and arrogance comes from. Maybe it stems from the way the owner allows the dancers to behave will give you a clue. At the end of the competition these dancers are encouraged to place all their trophies in the center of the stage. Then all the dancers form a circle around them and sing \"Ring around the trophies\" at the end they chant \"Ashes, ashes they all fall down.\" implying that all the other competitors fell and they were victorious. To me, this is the epitome of poor sportsmanship.
Why would anyone attend a competition because they heard there were terrible studios there? You can tell the strength of a team by those who they compete against.

I would give this competition negative stars if I could. If you want a place where your students can get fair unbiased judging to learn and grow as dancers don\'t go here. If you just want your students to win a lot of big trophies and pointless awards or you have a ton of dances going and don\'t care that your students might not have deserved their scores then it is the competition for you. I have never been so thoroughly disappointed by a competition. We went last year and were not thrilled with the competition, but the staff seemed nice and it was new so we thought we would give it another try. It only got worse. There is extreme favoritism. We were told by the backstage manager that our dances needed to be ready because this one school had dances on hold. The backstage manager told us that our next dance had to be ready in one dance. We informed her that some of the students were currently performing at that very moment so they would not be ready in one dance. Her response was that this other school had dances on hold because they just danced so we had to be ready. It was unbelievable. It seemed that the less dances you had the worse scores you got. Many dances were robbed of good scores because they weren\'t from certain studios. The rules say inappropriate songs, costuming can cause point loss or disqualification and yet a dance where 10-11 years wore little more than leaves and humped each other on stage won high scores. There was absolutely no info about the Judges anywhere and the second they were done they disappeared. The way the judging went made many of our teachers and parents feel that the judges were not qualified or were told to score a certain way. All of the competing studios/dancers were super nice here. Also, the photographers seemed to get lazy. We had quite a few dances that only the first half had pictures. There were a few dances that had maybe 5 pictures from the first 30 seconds and then nothing. We will not be returning.
My dancers, staff and parents all liked this competition. We attended three comps this year this was our favorite. Awards and trophies were great, offered scholarships, ran on time. Judges seemed fair and the comp was fun and upbeat. We cant wait to attend next season.
Wonderful opportunities. They give scholarships to Joffrey.. Very nice comp. Some things to smooth out but overall very well run. Will be back!
Very nice for a new competition. Can\'t wait to attend next year.
My studio loved this competition. We plan to attend again. Very well organized, nice staff, fair judging, great emcee, and upbeat awards. My students loved it and parents did too!
Absolutely loved this competition. The staff is more than amazing! They make the dancers and teachers feel welcome! Extremely helpful, well organized, great awards, loved the trophies and the scholarship! Is already on our list for our 2015 competitions!!!
I was completely satisfied with this competition! The staff was pleasant and helpful. My daughters commented how nice and encouraging the staff was while they were waiting to preform. The atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable. Hope to go back next year!
My daughter and all of her friends as well as our whole studio loved this competition. It was a great experience! Hope that our studio attends again next year!
This was so fun and entertaining, i loved it. The girls went out there and had so much fun!
I really like this competition. It was friendly and stress free. This was my daughter\'s first competition ever. It was over all a really good experience. It was very fun and entertaining. I was worried about my daughter entering the \"competition world\" but I was very pleased with her first experience. The awards were a little long but I guess that is true with any competition.
I\'m not sure we really got to experience what WAD can offer. It was a very small competition with only a few studios. I loved all of the opportunities that were given but was disappointed that only critiques were given and not actual score sheets. It would have been nice to see how it was actually scored.
I love this competition. Had so much fun performing there. The people were really nice to us and we won really nice trophies. I got a trophy taller than me and won Miss Wild About Dance.
My students had a fabulous experience at this competition!! The staff was very helpful and extremely accommodating!! We will definitely attend the competition next year!!
Loved this competition...the staff was wonderful....competition ran smoothly and on time. Cant wait to go back next year!
Very unprofessional competition...poor organization, useless judges comments (nothing valuable said), questionable judge credentials, poor sound system.
A new competition that is run like a bad recital...beware!
If I could give this competition 0 stars I would. It should have been a 2 day competition but they crammed it into 1 day. It started at 7 am and it ended at 1 am. They messed up the categories for our dances which they will not admit to. They did not give us any commentaries. When we asked for them they sent us a CD that had 30 second pieces of the routine in which judges were yawning but they did not give us any helpful advice in which we can improve our numbers. We ALSO received a critique for another studios number. In total we were missing 7 critiques. We were also informed that we could purchase the pictures but when we went on the site we realized that the photographer was only taking pictures for part of the competition, so if you were in the later numbers then you got nothing. There was a studio there that was clearly the favorite as they had brought over 120 numbers. They were also allowed to take as much time as they wanted to put their props together on stage without being penalized. They had a glass prop which was supposed to be a \"no no\" and it broke onstage. They failed to clean it up and it resulted in cuts on our dancers hands. Really? This is definitely a never again competition!
Took our money, delivered not one promise on their website. After combing it, we see we were supposed to have been sent an information packet, which we never got. The competition was originally 2 days, but was changed to one day close to the date. Ended up being a 2 day competition after all. We didn\'t get out of the venue until 1am, mainly because there was clear favoritism shown towards one dance school that was there. The owner of that studio works for the competition\'s convention. Most of the other studios ended up being filler to perform in between this studio\'s prop changes causing delays. Afterwards, our scores were sent out with only half of the numbers we performed. Many of the judges\' comments were only 30 second snippets of \"nice costume\" and \"good job.\" When I spoke with one of the directors she informed me she would look into this. Received an email the next day stating that they were in the right, and some judges only had that to say. Everything else had been deleted, and cannot be recovered. Basically we paid for several numbers to just perform and get a trophy. We have no idea how or why the judges scored the way that they did. Also the print out of the scoring is just one number, and although their website claims they breakdown scores into elements of performance, technique, etc. we have no idea how those were scored, or the scoring system. Even the promise they made to have a photographer was not kept. Apparently their photographer left halfway through the show. The director is now pulling screen shots from their videographer\'s work to produce photographs. It is also interesting to note that shortly after this specific competition, their Facebook page was abruptly taken down because so many horrible reviews were being posted. I held off posting my experience, giving them a chance to remedy their horrible customer service, and empty promises. Even if just starting out, others need to know how they handle their \"service\".
