This is not a regular dance competition. This is only for the best of the best in the ballet world. Sadly, I saw a couple of jazz solos perform which broke my heart for the girls whose directors and parents were not educated on the platform of YAGP. The talent level at YAGP is huge and my daughter and I go to watch every year. They only give out top three and sometimes a "top overall" in each age category. The top overall awards are called Hope or Grand Prix depending on age. This a a hugely prestigious competition that runs very differently from most other dance competitions. The workshop classes are fantastic!

havent competed in this but was a observer... and this was the worst comps we went to. no orginization... no planning no awards!
Extremely disappointed. We just returned from the Atlanta Regional competition. My daughter did competitive dance for 5 years, before quitting this year to focus on ballet. We attended YAGP Atlanta with her school. YAGP would do itself a favor by attending other competitions to see how to properly manage a competition. My most significant issues: schedule was not received until 2 days before the event started. So no confirmation regarding timing of the dances, award ceremony (there\'s only 1) or master classes. Do I need to stay until Saturday? Sunday? Who knows. No information received until the Tuesday before. One of the judges was from The Rock. The Rock was competing. The winner of the senior classical division was from The Rock. Seems inappropriate?? The comp was delayed by the threat of snow in the area and closure of the GT campus. An update was not received from YAGP until almost 11 pm. Awards ceremony was moved from 9 pm Saturday to 4 pm Sunday. Not all judged stayed until Sunday (even though all affected competitors rearranged their travel schedules). I didn\'t attend all segments of the comp, but those I attended began between 20-30 minutes late. Family had to pay for video access, and then waited, watching a black screen, for the coverage to start. Judges weren\'t ready for start of comp segments; one spent the entire first number searching through his backpack with his back turned to the stage. Judges handwrite their comments, so heads are down during much of the numbers. Awards were poorly managed - participants up on stage, no clarity as to who is top 12 for what category - students given the wrong awards and then had them taken away and given to others. Very disappointed in what is supposed to be THE PREMIER competitive event. Completely disorganized.
The talent and level of competition unmatched. A must for any aspiring ballerina.
This is a MUST competition for any dancer that wants to pursue a professional career in dance. The competition allows professionals in the industry to critique your dance skills as well as offer network opportunities. Professionals also teach classes to every attendee. If you are not planning to be a professional dancer, this competition still offers an exciting opportunity to compete against some of the top dancers in the world.
Top notch talent attracted to this competition. Very technically sound judging. Super capacity to watch competition through streaming. High quality videos and photos as well.
Definitely the most difficult and most professional ballet competition out there. A real challenge, which is great! I love the level of technique of all the dancers attending. Good for you, YAGP!
Top quality talent and dancers and the judges were very experienced and reputable with very good and helpful critiques. Good have been a little better organized.
Excellent talent and high level of competition, run well but could be organized a little better, communication was ok and could be improved upon
