I'm a sister of a dancer, I've been to a lot of competitions with her and I can safely say this is the worst one. Let me tell you why: Location- 1: The competition in whistler takes place inside the Fairmont on a pop-up stage, not even a proper theater just chairs in a banquet hall so no wings for dancers to come out of etc 2: Whistler is at least a 2 hour drive away from almost all BC dance Studios, why not have it in Vancouver where there are plenty of ACTUAL theater halls with proper sound systems and hotels around, it would be cheaper for everyone but instead we have to book hotels because whistler is at least a over night stay Others- 1: TIMING, holy cow I actually can't believe it it's been 2 years in a row of this garbage management, in 2024 on the last day they were behind a total of 3 hours. I get 30 minutes to 45 but 3 hours?! We ended up leaving after 5pm. This year is no different. By far my least favorite competition

Our studio attended this competition for the first time this weekend in Saskatoon. It ran fairly on time, I liked the competition format - 1st, 2nd, 3rd only - not festival format. Which was a nice change compared to the ones we typically attend. What I didn\'t love about this competition: - no stage. The dancers performed on a taped down dance floor in a basement room at the venue. This venue has an AMAZING stage and seating area upstairs but likely due to costs it was held in the basement. - EXPENSIVE - $45 for a weekend parent pass or $20 per day. For a competition that ran 8am - 6 pm on Friday and 12 - 9 on the weekend is a bit much. Especially when I couldn\'t really see very well since there wasn\'t an actual stage. - Change rooms were a big open space with no studio designated areas. - You have to BUY the trophy if you place. They do award really nice \"glass\" medals for solos/duos but groups are a ribbon and if you want the trophy it will cost you. Overall I wouldn\'t want to travel to attend this event but having an event at home was a nice change. I would be in favour of the studio attending again.
