COMPETITION DETAIL

Always a positive, fun time. We've been competing here for years. Always a mix of studios and levels but overall has that more younger-dance feel and tends to grade with a curve in a positive direction. A great first comp of the season type comp. I wish there they did a better job (not sure honestly how this part works) ensuring there are plenty of competition in different categories--no one wants to be up just against themselves and win 1st overall. That's just silly. Awards could be tightened up a bit but love the star throwing and call out special awards. Venues are typically adequate and staff has good communication with kids and studio. We go every year! Another review mentioned not saying name and studio for awards but they do for ours--I wish they wouldn't! Move it along please ;)

We just completed True Talent in Flanders, New Jersey. What a great competition. They have different levels, the competition runs smoothly. The staff are all kind and friendly. The venue was incredible, loved that a fundraiser was going on and they sold breakfast items and lunch items. Making it easy to grab something between numbers. Also loved that their weren't too many schools competing. The live critiques were a nice touch as were the way special judges awards were given. Only thing I would recommend is when you do overalls to have the kids get yo say there names and school. I am guessing g it's not done yo keep the awards moving. Love the scholrships that were handed out too..cant wait for next year!

True Talent is truly awesome! We have been attending competitions for over 10 years and for the first time truly fell in love with the atmosphere. Everyone from the staff, studio directors, parents, and competitive dancers was so encouraging and warm hearted. All the events ran on time and the awards were simple and easy to understand. All dancers in first place groups received trophies so even my littlest dancer who doesn\'t have a solo or duo left feeling accomplished! I look forward to attending again in the near future.

One of the best competitions I\'ve been to in several years! The staff is caring and attentive at all times. Everything ran smoothly and on time! Judging is fair and the live critiques were a great experience for my dancers! There is nothing better than a positive atmosphere for dancers! I will defintely be attending True Talent again this year!

I love True Talent and so do my students and their families!! We are recreational studio that attends 2 competitions a year, so I am always backstage and in the dressing rooms with my dancers before, during and after they perform and have never seen anything but positive vibes from the staff and directors. The competition runs on time, the dancers love the live critiques, the judging is fair in both the novice and competitive level. They offer scholarships to Rock The City intensive in NYC in the summer. I suggest to come and experience it for yourself you will definitely not regret it and will go back every year like me :)

True Talent is by far the best competition I have had the pleasure of attending. The owners are warm and welcoming. The judging is fair and the special features they offer (live critique) is an amazing experience. Been attending for three years now and can not wait to go back this year. Do yourself a favor and come see for yourself! You won\'t regret it!

One of the best competitions I have been too. The Judging is very fair and the live critiques are very positive and encouraging. I cannot wait to go back!!!

Having attended True Talent for the past 3 years I find it is one of the most professionally & fairly run competition I have attended. The levels are great, Live critiques are awesome! The directors Kiera & Laura May and all of the True Talent staff are very approachable and great with all the dancers, parents and us directors. My students and their parents love True Talent! See you in March!!!

I have experienced this competition as a director. I couldn\'t be more pleased. The staff is incredibly professional and pleasant. I especially love the live critique portion of the competition. The critiques are so encouraging for the students. The scoring is very fair and accurate. The staff is like a family and has been together since the inception of the competition. The directors of the Competition, Kiera and Laura May are very caring toward all who attend the competition. From the competitors to the audience, they are all treated with respect. I highly recommend this competition for any studio that is looking for a fresh, professional experience

I love this competition!!! I highly recommend it to everyone as a season starter!

The staff at True Talent is so kind. Everything goes really well. We were very happy with the critiques from three of the four Judges they had. One Judge sounded bored and annoyed to be there and gave critiques that were very opinion based and less technique based. Though her Technique based critiques were spot on. We thought the awards were fair and everyone got the awards they deserved.

We truly enjoyed this event ! We loved the live critiques. I personally Enjoyed that the judges were truthful to my dancers, and offered very kind and well-stated points. My dancers really enjoyed this, and I loved that after receiving constructive Critisism they were ready to go into the studio and fix it! We loved the backstage managers and staff. They were friendly, yet so professional. I also loved how instead of just naming a \"first\" in category, we were able to hear what placement each performance received in that category. We will be back !

This competition was ok. I think in a couple of years it will be amazing. Just needs some fine tuning I think. The awards were good. The overalls in each category were a bit much. Seemed like everyone there won first overall. The way they announced the adjudications with what they won first was a bit confusing at times as they also jumped around. The live critiques were fun and the judging wasn\'t that bad. This is a good first competition of the season to attend. I would definitely go back again!

We absolutely love this competition!. They do trophy\'s for every dancer in a 1st place dance which the kids & parents love. The judging is fair and honest. Also love the live critiques on solos and duets right after they performed!! The competition runs on time and back stage personnel are very friendly! Kudos to the directors for having a well run competition!! Looking forward to next year!!!!

Let me begin this review by saying that my dancers did very well receiving mostly platinums and my problems with this competition were not really having to do with the competition itself. I loved that they did special awards and things like that. The live critiques were very well done and positive and helpful in nature. Then I got home to listen to the comments online and things like \"nice try\" after a turn section instead of a helpful correction to possibly make it stronger is rude and unprofessional. Giving opinions on wanting a diagonal instead of a triangle is irrelevant...you are not the choreographer, judge what you see. There were easily 20 comments that were rude or irrelevant from the judges. One judge was wonderful and positive and helpful...not insulting like the other 2. One judge actually made a deep sigh when telling an 8 year old to point her feet more as if she were annoyed. That\'s not what we are paying entry fees for. At the competition itself, there were 2 studios clearly favored. One studio\'s owner was so unbelievably rude and nasty to his own students, other students and other studio owners. He was also bossing around the backstage managers with when his dances were going to go and I was really turned off by him and his entire energy. At the final awards, when this studios dances won solo, duet and group high scores and they were called over to announce their names, one girl actually said \"I think the audience should tell me my name.\" (because we had heard it so much.) I thought the competition owner handled that well by saying \"how about we just say the choreographers name?\" However, this studio owners behavior should have been addressed throughout the weekend. Truly despicable. The competition did run on time which was a good thing and the special awards were well done.

3 Days in CT this weekend and three days of AWESOME! The venue, the schedule, the merchandise, the professional staff, the on-point judges scores, the live critiques, the enthusiasm from the judges, emcee and audience. All I can say is thank you once again True Talent for keeping our school excited about competition! Happy Connecticut Day!!

This is a different type of competition. It was well run, organized and friendly. The live critiques were the worry of my daughter and myself but the judges proved to be very polite and also offered great feedback for room for improvement.

Compared to That\'s entertainment this by far is a Superior competition and they should be taking notes from you. you guys run so smoothly and arent fake like the other competition. The judges actually have expertise and just the experience as whole is refreshing thank you!!

I am not only a teacher but a parent of a dancer as well and would like to share my experience with you. We attended the Washington, CT last weekend and from the moment we walked in it felt like \"home\". All of the staff were so friendly, as were the students and teachers from other schools. The competition directors actually gives quick 5 min breaks, and allows for a quick lunch and dinner break. Everything ran smoothly. Some of the highlights were the live critiques for solos and duet/trios, the free Master hip hop class with Haley, and one of the most impressive things is that you as a student or parent get all your pictures and videos of all the routines they were in to download and do whatever you wish! Our whole school loved True Talent and cannot wait to do this competition again next year! Oh, and last but not least, the judges were awesome! I was able to get a lot out of there live critiques. Thank you True Talent for being everything we are looking for in a competition!

My studio attended True Talent this past weekend in Connecticut. Let me start by saying \"WOW\". We were recommended by a colleague we admire and respect greatly so we decided to make it our first event out this season. From the moment we walked in the door, the vibe was warm, friendly and professional. Backstage accommodations were above and beyond! Never have we been somewhere that ran so smoothly. There was always someone to ask questions of and to get accommodations with props and quick changes. Ran on time all weekend. Our kids aren\'t the best dancers but they love what they do, and they\'re nice to everyone. To have kids from other studios there that were just as nice was a great learning experience for our girls. One studio even gave out \"back stage awards\" to other students from other schools. Wow again! The live critiques was something I was a little worried about, especially for my younger kids but each and every one of my students couldn\'t wait to hear what the Judges had to say. I liked that they were very nice and complimentary to the younger kids and as they got older, they\'d make one helpful correction. Spot on judging and scoring. Professional announcer. Special awards, the Dance Warz opportunity and the workshop on Sunday made it all out to be the best competition experience we\'ve ever had as a whole. We loved that all the studio owners and teachers were called up on stage too! My parents absolutely loved it; and the kids and our staff did too. We will see you next year and beyond!

Best competition we have been to. I wish all competitions were as nicely run. True Talent goes the extra mile for their students. The staff is friendly. The judging fair. We will be making True Talent our prime competition.

Could be better - had problems with music.

LOVED the concept, the professionalism, the seamless backstage process. The live critique system is a great idea and the judges were fun and professional all weekend. We had a great time and will definitely be back

Treats male dancers with enough respect to provide them with dressing rooms big enough to hold all of the male dancers unlike other competitions where our sons are pushed into rooms no bigger than a janitor closet. Friendly fun great staff. Look forward to going every year. Literally don\'t have a single complaint.

Amazingly professional and Quality Competition!

Our first experience was in April. Very professional and I like that for solo, duos and trios there was an option for a personal critique.

First year, last year and they were so well organized, awesome and friendly to deal with. Actually asked for suggestions and we will be returning this year!!! If they keep the customer service up, they will succeed ten-fold!

Also live critiques on solos and duets right after they performed!! Kids were nervous about this but it went over well, taught them to take criticism with a smile. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!
