I first attended bedazzled back in 2013 for their regional and national competitions. After the nationals my studio swore to never attend again due to the horrible bias, and unfriendly staff. The bias was so bad that even when competing against groups with obvious mistakes we still were unable to come out on top. After some time that studio closed and I now attend a new one. This year the studio I am now at attended this competition again. I was hopeful that after ten years they might have fixed these issues as I’ve heard similar experiences to mine from other people who attended. Unfortunately the issues I experienced so long ago are even worse now. After attending the competition I was appalled at the amount of bias. Judges talking to studio directors about summer intensives they have instructed at competing studios, staff allowing studios to be cruel backstage, and the same studios winning every category even with many mistakes. With that said I am sure my studio will never attend this competition again.

This competition is well run and has a great family-fun-feel to it, but it is a competition where everybody wins! I think they give out overall awards to the point where every kid wins one, which is fine if you're into that, but then just call it a Recital and charge less. Younger kids seemed to have fun on stage for the awards, but really not geared for older dancers. A second-tier competition for second-tier studios and dancers.
My daughter learned a lot. Will return again.
We\'ve been attending Bedazzled competitions for years and have watched as it has gone from a fun, well organized event to a less-than-friendly, somewhat-sloppy event. We will likely not return. With no backstage manager the dj (co-director?) actually had to ask teachers to go look for a missing group and bring them to the stage. It seems that after a good run with this competition the directors are getting ready to call it a day.
I loved the expressions in this
Attended back in 2012 in Peterborough, ON. Dressing room situation was a nightmare. We attended for 4 yrs and each year it was a disaster. Last straw happened when our studio noticed that a dancer was dancing in both pre-competitive and competitive routines, which was against their rules. We brought it to their attention and they decided to let it go and refused to move the routine out of the pre-comp category. We found out later that the studio was the largest at the competition and that they had already agreed to attend the national finals. As a result of them not honouring their advertised rules, we will not go back.
the judging was biased an only big schools won
Very well organized and run, fair judging, good venues for the most part. Many options for regionals and a fun but small finals. (Note, I\'m from Ontario but non US residents can\'t sign up for an account yet)
Loved this competition, sadly we never ended up going back....
