COMPETITION DETAIL

This is a review of Detroit Feb, 2017. This was our first time competing at a LOC competition. Lots to like, organized, ran early, awards did not take forever, really nice pictures (that photographer knows dance) plenty of space in the dressing rooms, theater and hallways. Overall, I thought the judging was fair. We did well. Did bigger studios win more? Yes but they deserved it. My only beef is that the judges were not announced or had bios in the program. As a tap mom, I get that not every comp is going to have judges that understand tap. Its better to know that upfront than to find out during awards. Fix that, and you will be five stars.

Love League of Champions! All the excitement - and INSANE talent - of Hall of Fame but without the ridiculous amount of entries! This weekend\'s competition ended two hours early, which is amazing, and I think it\'s so much fun that they have a live DJ during awards.

We were extremely disappointed that this event was cancelled especially because we were told the registration closed to studios two months before the event, but our studio owner weren\'t notified of the cancellation until the very end of April. This left our team unable to find an alternative competition to attend on short notice. It was not a good first impression, and I am doubtful that we will consider this competition again.

Sounds like sour grapes to me! I thought there was great attention to detail and did not see any favoritism at all! Great new comp!

Attended for the first time this year. It was a good competition! We attended Syracuse regionals and got to see some great dancers and great numbers. As usual, the backstage staff were amazing and the owner really went out of his way to accommodate us. It\'s not a bird competition; if you\'re used to doing smaller competitions and cleaning up and enjoy that, you may be disappointed with your experience at LOC-- or Hall of Fame, for that matter.

The amount of politics this competition contributes to is rediculous and unprofessional. Certain studios were treated much differently then others and they were not afraid to show their favorites. It showed when the awards were announced,as well as in general throughout our weekend. It was so unfortunate that it caused so many dancers to get so defeated by day two because they felt that they weren\'t even given a fair chance.

Not a fan. The judges were inexperienced and their audio critiques were sparce. When they would comment it was always an opinion and not a fact about technique, and yet we would get marked down for it. They were looking for how many 'Tricks' the kids did, not any artistry. We will not return there or to Hall of Fame.

We really enjoyed this competition even though it is in its first year.The Director is from the same family that runs Hall Of Fame Dance Challenge so we didn't experience any of the first time bugs that other comps deal with. My parents and students loved the comp and can't wait to go back. Their only request is to make the trophies bigger and provide a plaque for each routine. I know other studios may not think this is a big deal but this was the first comp for several of the students and they were looking forward to it.
