Great faculty as always. Event is very organized and runs smoothly. Low enrollment so only two rooms instead of three. Preferred the exhibition show that they used to have to the competition they have now. Liked Foxwoods but the rooms are expensive.

This is by far one of our favorite conventions every year! Well organized, great faculty, and wonderful classes!
My daughter really enjoyed the classes and choreography! She had a blast learning from her SYTYCD favorites!
My daughter loved this convention. All the teachers were fun and knowledgeable. Just wish they were coming back to the west coast. Booo
Love work shop but was disappointed that teacher Alex Wong did not teach contemporary. Staff was great but it took long to have room cleaned. I would like the rooms to have a marley floor for dance instead of carpet
Love love love this class convention. My daughter learning so much and enjoyed the entire weekend
too many kids
Love this convention! Such a positive atmosphere. The teachers really seem to want the kids to enjoy dance. They are very down-to-earth and approachable. Things run on time. Exhibition show was fun.
This was our third year in a row attending. Love the instructors, the Showcase, the classes and the staff. The kids also loved the autograph session. Very well ran. This was at a third location in the last three years but I think that just shows they are always looking to improve. Definitely will be back next year!
Loved it. The instructors from SYTYCD were top notch and great with the kids. Our students learned alot and were thrilled to meet the professional dancers in the autograph sessions at the end of each day. My daughter\'s favorite teacher was Alex Wong. We will go back.
Our studio\'s 3rd year attending. Girls were challenged, but also had a blast. The rooms were much fuller than the past 2 years, so the word is getting out about the convention in our area. I do wish once a dancer is picked in one class for a golden ticket/honor award they would be out of the running for the next class. So many amazing kids working hard and not getting rewarded for it because some of the same kids are picked more than once. That being said, we will be back again next year. They do a great mix of teaching combos, advice about the dance world, and sharing person stories with the kids.
We have attended for two years and have completely enjoyed the experience. The kids had a great early morning stretch, great choreography and the teachers were very attentive. Will attend again.
Hello dancemomTia,Thank you so much for the nice feedback! We are so glad you had a great weekend all around. We look forward to the upcoming year - please spread the good word, we appreciate it! - EiM Team
Phenomenal! We have attended for 2 years now and love every minute of it. Can\'t wait to go back again next year!
Hi mom2dancer167, We can\'t wait to have you back! We have an awesome year coming up. Thank you for taking the time to write some nice feedback! EiM Team
Again this year, they did not disappoint. Well organized, staff was very helpful, and the instruction was both fun and challenging. Nice to have former SYTYCD dancers teaching and offering great advice to the kids. They were also very friendly and seemed to be having just as much fun as the kids.
Hi CAkins13, We\'re so happy you\'ve enjoyed our events! And you\'re right - we do have just as much fun as the kids. Looking forward to seeing you again this year - thanks for the comment! EiM Team
We just came back yesterday from the Huron, Ohio convention. My daughter had a fabulous time and has already asked to go back next year!! The instructors did only teach combinations but I didn\'t expect them to teach technique that is what we pay our teachers for!! Unfortunately, some of the instructors that were supposed to be there never made it because of the LAX shooting. The folks at Excel did an amazing job finding other instructors last minute including two great hip-hop instructors, Casie \"Tynee\" Goshow and Laura Edwards. My daughter loved their classes and that is saying a lot because she hasn\'t done hip-hop in 7 years and now wants to do hip-hop next year. Thank you, Excel in Motion for a fabulous weekend!!!
Hi ejfamous1979, You are very welcome! Thank you so much for understanding the missing instructors. We were shocked and saddened by the LAX tragedy but appreciated the kindness of all the clients in Huron as we called on other fantastic instructors to step in for the weekend. We can\'t wait to see all your daughter has learned in hip hop this year! See you soon, EiM Team
My fav convention!!! Great faculty! Awesome staff! Fantastic showcase!!! Read some people thought it was too crowded, but I thought it was a decent size conventions are always somewhat crowded. I go to conventions to learn different combos and work with new choreographers, that\'s the whole point!! Love Excel Cannot wait to go back this year!!!
Hi KitCat, Thank you so much for the great feedback! We\'re glad you had such a great experience with us. Looking forward to a new year! - EiM Team
DD really enjoys meeting and being taught by the SYTYCD folks, but they teach a lot of combinations. Wish they taught more technique. The biggest problem is that it is way too crowded. It has gotten more crowded each year. They've changed venues this year so hopefully that will help. Some dancers at our studio won't go back because it was so crowded, but most of the kids go back. The staff is nice and the SYTYCD folks are always very gracious during the autograph/photo sessions. It's amazing to see your child meet her idol!
Hello JC2013, Thank you for taking time to write feedback about your experience with us. Our goal is to expose students to different kinds of movement, the skill of learning choreography quickly, and the experience of taking class from working dancers in the industry. We hope that students apply their technique learned in the classroom from their studio to the new movement and combinations that they learn with us at Excel. Our teachers are great at emphasizing correct technique in all their combinations, while giving students the most material they can during their class time. We also cut off registration if the classes are too full and change locations if we feel the event is getting too big. We hope you enjoyed the new location last year in Boston, and we hope to see you at future events! - EiM Team
I heard the material is not for children
Hello danceratcpac, We are sorry that this is your impression of us. We require our faculty to teach content that is appropriate for the age level they are teaching, so if you have any specific examples that we may not know of please let us know. Have you attended Excel in Motion before? We\'d love to hear about your experience with us. Please feel free to email us directly: info@eliteperformancechallenge.com. - Excel in Motion Team
No way would I bring my dancers back to this convention. The classes were so packed that you there was no room to really dance. Not one of the teachers gave a warm up, so the dancers had to warm up on their own. The Teachers(except for Twitch) were clearly only there for the paycheck and it showed. They yelled when dancers didn\'t know what they were doing and it wasn\'t the dancers fault, because they couldn\'t see with so many people in the room. I had one whole group of dancers who all came home with the same injury in their hip, from trying to do a move that was not explained to them. What a waste of money, my girls did not come home talking about new stuff they learned because they didn\'t learn anything new or exciting. They actually said \"please don\'t signs up for that convention again it wasn\'t worth it\". The performance that you had to pay $7-10 for was not worth the money either. Most of the dancers were awful and again way too many people stuffed into a too small of a room.
We appreciate you taking the time to write a review and would like to take a moment to respond to your experience. We open ballrooms early in the morning for dancers to stretch and warm up. The first teacher of the day typically starts them out with a short warm up but does not focus on it since the students are encouraged to do that beforehand. This provides the maximum amount of choreography and learning. We are surprised to hear that you think our teachers are there for the paycheck. We have worked with most of them for years & both staff and faculty really enjoy themselves during Excel events - it\'s fun to interact with dancers all around the country! Excel\'s faculty is in high demand and has no trouble getting work - many of them choose their conventions carefully and enjoy the Excel tour. All of our faculty are used to teaching large classes - it is very typical for conventions to be packed and we\'re one of the few in the industry that will actually cut off registration if the classes are too full. In order to get so many big names on our faculty, we have to have large classes, but we have high stages, run choreography in groups, and move around the room in order to give every student a good experience. Our Boston location, for example, has been moved to a larger location to accommodate dancers. Our top priority is for students to have a great dance experience throughout the weekend. The Exhibition Show is an optional, affordable, and fun event where we showcase our available headliners, students who worked hard in class, award winning small groups, and Elite Dancer assistants. These assistants have earned their chance to share the stage with our faculty by earning top awards at our affiliate competition Elite Performance Challenge. These assistants are young and talented dancers who are not professionals, but are dedicated to dance and growth. We apologize that you did not have a good experience with us and hope that you will reconsider us in the future.
Great classes and the girls all enjoyed the autograph session with the instructors. They not only taught dance, but also gave great advice on being in the dance world. We will have this on a return convention list agin this year!!
Hello CAkins13, Thanks for the great review! We also think it\'s important for young dancers to hear working professionals\' advice, in addition to learning their choreography. Looking forward to seeing you all again! - Excel in Motion Team
This was my daughters first convention and she loved it. The instructors were so much fun and interacted with the dancers. The only negative was the location. The parking garage had several break ins. The convention itself was very understanding and helped with what they could. They advised they will be bringing their own security next year. We can\'t wait to go back.
Hello Melissa C, We\'re really glad that despite the unfortunate parking lot problems that your daughter had a great first convention experience! Looking forward to 2014-2015 - thanks for the nice review! - EiM Team
Our favorite convention this year, by far. The kids were really engaged by the instructors - who had them doing pretty much everything(Kent had kids doing push-ups, and Alex taught song-and-dance instead of contemporary!) The instructors were all super-nice and really seemed to enjoy engaging with the kids (and parents!) I didn\'t feel nickel-and-dimed. We went to the Charlotte, NC convention, and really liked the setup! The ballroom facilities of the hotel were actually really nice, with plenty of areas for people to sit outside waiting for the kids and places for lunch. They also offered a buffet lunch for purchase which seemed popular. The hotel also had a bar/restaurant with decent food and prices, and there were a number of restaurants within walking distance as well. One thing I think everyone enjoyed was that it was strictly a convention - and one without a scholarship audition, so every class hour was used to learn! There was no pressure on the kids to do anything other than enjoy their time and learn some new stuff. It was the perfect start to a great season!
Hi tappindmom! We\'re excited to hear you and your students had a great time with us and hope the rest of your dance season went well. We love coming back to Charlotte every year and look forward to 2015. Thanks for the nice feedback! - EiM Team
This one falls in the middle for me. My kids LOVE it, because they enjoy taking classes from the SYTYCD alum. It is very well run and organized, however I wish that more emphasis was placed on teaching technique and less on combinations. Some teachers taught nothing BUT combinations, and don\'t feel that helps to educate our dancers.
Hi Heartbeatscenter, Thank you for taking the time to write feedback! We agree that technique is incredibly important! We aim to expose students to different kinds of movement, the skill of learning choreography quickly, and the experience of taking class from working dancers in the industry. We hope that students apply the technique they learned in their studio to the new movement and combinations that they learn with us at Excel. Our teachers try to emphasize correct technique in all their combinations, while giving students the most material they can during their class time. Again, we are glad that your students have enjoyed their time at Excel, we appreciate your feedback, and we hope to see you at future events! - Excel in Motion Team
AWESOME!!! Highly encourage!!!
Thanks Patiola! We are so glad you enjoyed your experience with us! - EiM Team
