Sound, Stage, Lighting were EXCELLENT!! Entirely too many breaks!! Awards were way too long and the nicest thing given out was pins. PAC ATTACK makes no sense because you are literally doing the same dance for the same judges for groups and for solos you improv but then everyone gets the same banner? I had multiple kiddos in wheelchairs so we couldn't access the dressing room we were given due to stairs. Merchandise was kind of lacking and only one tiny place to take photos. At the end of the day the kids had a blast and that's all that matters but wanted to give honest feedback. Staff was okay but not super outgoing or interactive. Photos, Videos, Critiques FANTASTIC!!!

All around one of the best competitions we have ever been too. From the stage, lighting, music, awards, staff, director , judging panel. Everything was great! The director treated us like actual humans and you could tell she really cared about the kids and each studio! We will defiantly be back next season , without a doubt & maybe even nationals. We had an amazing experience and highly recommend !
I'm the studio director of an adapted dance program and we just competed in Cleveland, Ohio this weekend. We brought three dances - two groups and one soloist - and I would HIGHLY recommend this competition to other studios who have neurodiverse and disabled dancers. We are a unique registration where our peer models actually compete with a different studio and also compete under our studio name, which I know took some manual work behind the scenes for their enrollment process. The administrative staff was very helpful in explaining various options on how our dancers could be recognized and adjudicated, but ultimately it was my decision as the studio director to register them in the "premier" and not the "advanced" category. My dancers, their families and I knew that they would be receiving judges feedback, but not a numerical score or placement in the scoring system. Yes, we paid the full amount to be a part of the competition and think that is only fair as we used the facilities, took our designated time on the stage and went home with proper recognition for our performance. However, I can't speak highly enough about the amount of respect, dignity and inclusion that the event staff gave our dancers. They were attentive to our sensory needs from the dressing rooms, to the PAC Attack selection process and award ceremony. When I started my company over 10 years ago, the competition world wasn't appropriate for adapted dancers and wasn't even considered. I commend PAC for their inclusiveness and think that this teaches everyone how to respect and honor each others' differences and abilities. We just love to dance and I'm incredibly thankful for the opportunity for my dancers to share their joy of dance on the PAC stage. Thank you!!!
We had a great experience at PAC this 2024 season! The staff was very professional and great with our kids. Our teachers had a very positive experience navigating the venue, backstage check in, communication, etc. We will be back!
The staff is incredible. They were so kind, professional, and truly cared so much about the dancers. We had the best experience and will definitely be going back!
Great staff… terrible venue
So, this is our first year here and only 2nd year dancing, so we are fairly new. But even a newbie could see the issues. Whew! After 2 days we realized that the first 20 or so dances would all get gold with a silver or a few platinums sprinkled in. Then the last part would receive all platinums and crystal. I'm not sure if it's because the first half was a lower level. But if so, wouldn't you judge the lower level against themselves and not against the higher levels? I don't know. It just didn't make any sense, again newbie here but it just seemed odd that there seemed to be a pattern that repeated every session. They take a lot of costume breaks....lots.... which drags the day and night out. The music was extremely loud. The set up was very inconvenient. The wings are not deep and the stage was small. The lights weren't on at the back of the stage during some of the performances. It just seemed like it wasn't very well put together. We just didn't enjoy this dance comp at all. We won't go back.
Great communication and excellent quality event. We will go back!
One of our beginner dancers gave a great performance. Her performance quality was the best she's done all season, but her technique was truly beginner-level. Given the beginner criteria on the Precision Arts Challenge website, she was perfectly suited for the advanced category, which is for the beginner level. During judging she was awarded a "crystal" adjudication, which is not available for beginners, and received no overall placement in the beginner category. We were shocked. After judging, we asked the competition director how this could be and this conversation was wholly unhelpful. We then had to track down the competition director's assistant, who told us the judges had moved her up a level because she "scored too high". This dance had no tricks, no turns, no flips, and no complex jumps. It was not an intermidiate (competitive) level dance. So instead of scoring first in the beginner category, the dance was then moved up and did not place in the intermediate category. It was utterly ridiculous and the dancer was devastated. We followed every rule of the competition, and she gave a good performance. Additionally, the beginner category did a "Top 9" for overalls, which is odd. This was a terrible experience for this dancer. We are a smaller studio, and she was the only one from our studio in this category. She was utterly humiliated. Our studio director is currently attempting to contact PAC to get our dancer her first place trophy.
Dance Expressions had a great time. The communication was fabulous. I felt for having 70ish acts there, that the ratings were varied and the Precision Award was saved for the very highest caliber routines as it should be. We had plenty of PAC attack call backs and challenges. We appreciated the time to change with the quick changes. This circuit is one of my kids favorites.
Hats off to Precision Arts Challenge! My daughter had a great time competing in Detroit. I was very impressed that despite losing power for almost 2 hours, the staff got things up and running smoothly for the rest of the night and the judges still had tons of energy! We loved watching the PAC Attack and the reactions of the dancers when they heard the sirens. As I was waiting for my daughter to finish packing her stuff, I watched the judges leaving the competition and was so impressed that they took the time to talk to the kids that were in the hallway and tell them what a great job they did. Those kids were on cloud nine, like they just met celebrities! Thank you for the great weekend, Precision!
Might be decent for beginners, but don’t bother if your dancer is in the pre-professional level. They have a really confusing scoring system. At the top, they have a “coveted” Precision adjudication that only pre-professional can get, but they barely give it to anyone. Like maybe 2-3 soloists all weekend across all studios and 1 or 2 groups total. It didn’t used to be like this, but it has been for the last 3 years now. Not sure why they even have the category if they don’t award it. The low scoring has to be intentional because the Precision is for acts scoring 285-300, so it’s not like it’s a narrow range. Judges don’t give any reason when they give such low scores and the judging is all over the place. One judge will score an act in the highest adjudication level and another one puts it in the 5th level down. It’s a joke. One of our soloists had one judge that scored her routine a full 12 points lower than either of the other 2 judges for no apparent reason. PAC attack is maybe cool for groups, but it has gone downhill, especially for soloists. It used to be given to more soloists and to the ones who really deserved it due to a great performance. Now they only give 9 PAC callbacks for each age total (all 3 competitive levels combined.) They give maybe 2 to girls with great performances and the other 7 are to dancers who fall down or forget their dance, etc. It is very discouraging to the dancers that perform well when they don’t get the PAC attack. So it is just doing more harm than good at this point. For groups, they seem to equate twerking with PAC attack. So I’m not sure it’s even a compliment to the routine anymore. It bothers me that they don’t even give a certificate to girls who place in the overalls. I think maybe 1-5 gets a plaque but 6-10 just gets announced and leaves empty handed. So most don’t even remember what place they were once they sit down. We have danced in this comp for 7 years but can’t justify going back again when dancers aren’t judged fairly and everyone leaves feeling discouraged. We will miss what it used to be…
This was our first time competing at this competition. We have competed at several other competitions. Staff was absolutely amazing and super friendly. We have gotten judges awards at other competition, one thing I loved was the judges came on stage and gave the awards down side the award was on paper. I like how other competitions give out ribbons and judges award pins. I didn't like that 5 through 10 didn't get a plaque when they came up. Overall it was amazing competition and we will love to try it again.
Pros: Very cool stage backdrop and high quality audio. Dance competition ran exactly on time. Judges awards were clear and to the point. Nice award hardware. Pretty good judging overall. Cons: PAC attack. On paper this sounds like a fun and cool idea but it ended up being disheartening to many dancers. No matter how well you danced if you didn't get a pac attack then you left the stage feeling defeated. Soloists from any genre of dance could get a pac attack but we noticed groups either had to be hip hop or jazz in order to get a pac attack. Pac attack is entertaining for the audience but a negative for the dancers in general because the vast majority will not get one and feel disappointed after their dance (even if they rocked it!!!!) Other con: the merchandise lady at our event wasn't very friendly
Truly an amazing experience! I can not say enough about this competition! Our studio had a blast! Best competition we have been to yet! We plan to return every single year. Amazing experience!
Thank you for taking the time to submit a review! We are happy to hear you enjoyed your competition experience with us.
The staff at Precision Arts could not be more friendly and helpful. They were so great to work with. However, our city where the competition was held does have limited venues. We will not be attending any events in the future that are held at the venue the PAC competition was just held. The cost is too high for parking and vehicles are required to pay every time they enter. This along with the strict regulation of no outside food or drink can be brought in and the high prices of limited and unhealthy concessions, makes it for a very frustrating weekend. As far as the competition itself, we would love to see judges awards (which our dancer received) completely revolve around dance/performance standouts. Ex: technique, choreography, precision, performance, etc. As opposed to the "smile award" for someone who smiled during their performance, etc. But over all we were definitely pleased with the competition itself.
Thank you for taking the time to submit a review! Our venue team appreciates the feedback and is working on a solution for the Ft Wayne area in the future.
This is my studio's fave comp...the kids love it! It was well organized this last weekend, they bought all the owners Starbucks on Sunday to keep us going and they had some fantastic judges at KC. Katie was dancing with the kids, they loved dancing for her because she was smiling and excited and she helped pump them up. Backstage was on top of it...love the TVs in the line up so we know what number they are on
It was a great time! Loved the venue, they ran about a 1/2 hour behind, but we didn’t mind! The DJ was excellent as well! We loved the PAC Attack, although not sure how they selected some of the winners. Some of the judging was questionable as well, but overall we had an excellent time!
Precision Arts was a well run competition but there seemed to be studio favoritism. One particular studio had routines in every level in every age division and every one of those routines should have been advanced. They were amazing dancers. Nothing was said and they continued to "clean sweep" every level and every division all weekend long.
We loved this competition. The venue was great, with a cafeteria on site. Plenty of room in the dressing area. They offer free workshop style classes taught by the judges. My daughter loved this and it really added a fun element to the competition and helped her feel more relaxed. It was clear from the classes and awards that they are committed to educating dancers not just making money. Really great time!
Worst Competition ever! Don't get me wrong, the staff seemed friendly enough and some of the circumstances that we experienced may have been out of their control. However, they have used the same venue that we were in previously so they are well aware. The competition started over an hour late due to their computers crashing, then they couldn't get the music to play correctly and the dressing room we were assigned to was a janitorial closet that smelled like pee and had horrible lighting. They apparently didn't have a stage crew for clean up either! There were a few injuries to the dancers due to the debris that was all over the stage (and back stage) from costumes and props. I have never been to a competition where they didn't have a "Stage Crew" to take care of this. Once a dancer gets hurt bad enough to put them out of the competition, that puts a huge burden on the studio to have to now reblock routines in a moments notice. Not to mention all the competition fees that were paid (for that dancer) and are nonrefundable!!!!! At awards there wasn't even a mention of the injured. You would think that they would say "sorry" or something at the least. The judging was all over the place as well. And we saw routines that were competing in the "novice" level that were clearly misplaced. Very disappointed with this company.
We love Precision Arts Challenge! It is well-organized, fun & professional! Both our dancers and their families look forward to this competition each year. The backstage staff members are very friendly and helpful. The competition runs on-time/ahead of schedule and the judges’ comments are helpful and educated. I highly recommend this competition!
This competition has everything you need and so much more! We attended the Davenport even and they ran on time, staff was extremely kind and very helpful, The judges were full of energy and very attentive to each dance. The best part of this competition for us and my child who danced this weekend, was the free master classes, right there you can tell the competition really cares about the growth and education of future dancers. I have to say a huge thank you to the male judge who taught the Jazz workshop. His kind words, positive attitude, and love for dance has given my daughter an unbreakable confidence and I couldn't be more thankful. Once again great event and us parents most certainly would love to come back next year!
Our kids LOVED the pac attack. Good job keeping it exciting. We've been to a bunch of competitions and it really helped keep it fresh. I hope our studio goes back, the parents were happy.........and we pay the bills! haha
We attended this competition last year for the first time and it was my favorite of the season. I really enjoyed everything about it and the kids had a blast. I had high expectations going into this competition this year, and I have to say i was disappointed overall. While the announcer and staff were friendly and the kids really enjoy the PAC attack challenge, the judging was all over the place. And one judge in particular looked miserable the entire time and made it clear with her body language and tone that she was not interested in being there and couldn't wait to fly back home. It was disheartening to the kids. The inconsistency of the judging was frustrating as well. I feel like this competition has so much potential but something was lacking this year. I also prefer when small groups and large groups are not lumped together for overalls. But I did appreciate how there was a top 10 overall for the entire competition combining the age groups. So while there are a lot of positives to this competition as far as the organization and pricing of the apparel and media, I would be hesitant to attend again next year.
I would like to say I completely disagree with many of the reviews of this explosive, caring, fun competition that not only my students but parents can't stop talking about. We had so much fun it was hard to believe we were in a Dance competition and I have 20 years in this business. Oh, I should probably state that my group did not win the Pack Attack and we were one of the loudest there however I think if you think the winner is chosen by the loudest your wrong. My parents said to me that as the audience cheered louder and louder the dancers took everything to the next level they became electric from the response they were getting. Even though we were the loudest and we were not disappointed by any means, in fact, all my kids talked about after is how they want to try again next year. They said, in the beginning, your applause is their inspiration and In this competition you see their faces light up in a way you may never have before. JUDGES - Let see they were energetic, friendly and caring, our students treated them like rock stars. Many competitions these days have the attitude we took your money sit down and shut up. We felt that was quite the opposite here. Everyone on staff was helpful, excellent communication and the problem solving is off the hook. We were ill prepared for our music and they were able to do on the spot conversions for us and were happy to do so. Should I forget to mention the dancing judges, Singing audiences to the fillers that kept us entertained every step of the way. Prices- I ask you to find a competition that has better pricing on the Video's or Photos. Then to have what they had for selection of Special Tour items All I can say is WOW they really put attention to detail. I honestly can say they stayed on schedule and ahead of it by 10 min as much as they could despite many prop issues that had nothing to do with Precision and everything to do with each studio that brought them. Still, during all of this, they never missed an opportunity to have us Laugh, Sing and at one point the whole Audience danced along. There is one thing that really stood out to us. This staff worked so hard to provide a quality show that many of them never left their positions. During breaks, I think we saw them leave the auditorium once but to put 12-14 hours in and not leave to go to break is unheard of in any competition. Not to mention the amount of energy that they kicked up along the way was extraordinary. Scoring - Was fair and quite accurate, the judges watched every min and paid attention to every detail. I am not sure where these other reviews were from but I saw a totally different competition here. I could go on forever about how much we loved this competition but I will sum it up like this. After speaking to the staff and learning about them I am sure they had growing pains in the beginning years as a new company would. That is a far cry from the entertainment machine they are now. We can't wait to attend next year !!!
This competition is is one of the worst we've been to, and it's a shame because it could be really good! This competition does what they call a Pac Attack, which is basically a best in show. They select a few numbers to recompete for the winner of Pac Attack. The winner is chosen based on the loudest screams from the audience and the judges scores. The winner for this at our local event, did NOT have the loudest screams and the judges barely watched ANY of the routines during the Pact Attack. Truly a shame because its a very cool idea and the kids were excited! You know how sometimes you attend a competition and it seems like the awards were pre-planned before the event even took place??? Yup, that would be Precision Arts Challenge. FYI - THE WEBSITE DOES NOT CLEARLY STATE THAT TITLE IS NOT WON BY HIGHEST SCORE!!!! Title is judges preference!!!! I also question the credibility and experience of the judges that this competition hires. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU HAVE EXPERIENCED/ADVANCED dancers!!!! The website does not contain ANY important information and the pictures are not contracted out, meaning they do the pictures themselves...which means you will never see them again after the day of the competition. They claim to put them on their website, but they do NOT! DO NOT GO HERE!
The worst competition I personally have been to as a competition mom in our 3rd year. Changed location a week before the event, hardly any competition for our girls outside of our own studio, no refreshments being sold...just overall very unprofessional.
This competition was run very poorly. The intermediate-level numbers from our studio were not adjudicated as intermediate routines, but as advanced routines. Consequently, the wrong adjudication levels and awards were given. The competition never fixed this or sent us the correct awards. Also, the parents who purchased videos of their children\'s dances received DVDs without sound. The judging was inconsistent. The masterclasses held beforehand were nice, but they did not pick a venue to accommodate large classes. The musical theater master class was crammed into a very small choir room, the 10 students in the class could not all extend their arms without hitting each other. Overall, the whole experience was incredibly frustrating. Our studio will not be returning.
Really enjoyed this competition! Staff was really nice, the classes they offered were enjoyable to watch and my daughter had lots of fun taking classes from the instructors, and the competition itself ran smoothly. When I had questions regarding the scoring, they were happy to explain it to me. I didnt know why my daughter got a gold (she performed really well) but another dancer got a platinum (and it wasn\'t as good). They explained my daughter was in a higher/harder level (competitive) than the other dancer who was was in the beginner level. That made me feel better. I would go back and recommend it!
12 years of competitive dance and this was the WORST competition I\'ve ever been to. Positives: our parents said they enjoyed the classes. The studio owners said communication was fantastic. Negatives: 3 studios. THREE. But they didn\'t cancel. Inconsistent judging - possibly because judge one looked bored from the start. They changed the date of the comp a week before because they hadn\'t bothered to secure the venue for the original date. (That festival is there EVERY YEAR) No overalls AT ALL if there were less than 3 in division. When you can only book 3 studios... Poor technique scored platinum. Excellen t technique gold. But even that wasn\'t consistent. Overall solos...golds scoring over platinums because the adjudication is so warped for each level. This all might have made more sense if the program actually listed what competitive level each number was. Because some rough dances scored platinum while beautiful work scored gold. Took almost an hour after the last number (all 56 of them) to even start the awards. The awards were really hard to follow and made no sense. No concessions. Overpriced merchandise. Critiques - 2/3 were good. Bored judge was not so much bored as angry, I guess. Some of her comments didn\'t make any sense. And they had the video sped up so it didn\'t match the comments. Even the useful critiques were hard to decipher. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME ON THIS COMPETITION. Editing to add: the review above me was NOT written by a parent. There were no studios there from MO. I\'m letting DCH know.
Thank you for your words. We spoke with your director about your concerns.
Hands down, the most poorly run competition I\'ve ever attended. Judging made no sense at all, and this was echoed by all studios in attendance. No food or water provided, and yet the venue would not allow outside food and drinks. Downright dangerous for the dancer/athletes who need water. The programs had no indication of ages, and the levels were all incorrect, despite corrections having been provided weeks in advance. The awards were the worst - the announcers were clueless, dancers that were supposed to be in top 10 lineups were left out, awards/pins were not available because they ran out...I could go on. There were NO redeeming qualities to this competition.
My girls really enjoyed this one! Judges were knowledgeable in all areas including tap which is rare a lot of times. The free master classes given by the judges were also a plus. It helped my daughter focus on what they were looking for and relax during her solo. This company offers a lot of different extras and awards. We are looking forward to attending again this year.
Fantastic Comp! The event ran on time and the staff was super friendly. My daughter and her team had a blast. Can\'t wait for next year!
Loved it! Helpful staff, free master classes from wonderful teachers, useful critiques, my parents enjoyed the event, the kids loved it... we will be back next year!!!!
I really liked this competition. Judging was fair and consistent. Staff was nice and friendly. I thought it was nice that the judges interacted with the kids at the awards ceremonies. I would recommend it and I look forward to going again next year. Only complaint was the audio critique was a bit difficult to hear.
Cooperative staff leading up to the event but the competition itself was just a mess. Awards all over the place, rankings announced incorrectly (golds ranking higher than platinum!), awkward silence between dances, judges critiques did not record. Just not good at all.
