My daughter's team attends Showstoppers competition very often. This is the first time that I have had a issue. We just recently went to Showstoppers Nationals @ Myrtle Beach I must say I was highly disappointed. The solo judges in Room 3 were barely watching, and they were on their phones. My daughter has always looked forward to going to Showstoppers but this is the 1st time she has said what was the point of all of my hard work mom! The crazy part is it was not just our team who were confused it was a lot of others. Even worse they moved those judges to room 1 on the last dance day and they did the same thing, one of the teachers finally had to say something but very little was done to help the situation. As a parent this was very disheartening. Please get better judges. We pay way to much money to get horrible judges.

The best competition we have attended by far. Love the stage lighting, media is always great, judging is fair from credentialed judges, and the dancers just have a great time! We will always be a fan of this event.
Love everything about Showstopper! Awesome staff and events are crazy well run
Fair judging, amazing awards! Loved our first time experience!
The media package is excellent and a steal! Great merch as well. The staging with the LEDs makes a fun experience. The awards are kind of weird and take some getting used to, especially if your dancer's group is so large they need multiple sections. There were issues with audience members being inconsiderate (taking photos, talking on phone, standing in front of others) while dancers are performing. This comp is so massive they can't really police for bad behavior unfortunately. Not their fault, just be prepared for people to show their worst. Showstoppers is best suited to dancers with more comp experience because it can be quite overwhelming. I would not bring someone new to competing to Showstopper.
Always know what you're going to get with showstopper. It's excellent! Def one of the best on the biz.
It's the best. Every year it has the best vibes. Awesome judging and great staff.
We always have a good time at showstopper. Solid competition.
Pros- love the merchandise - great prices. Held at a water park so the kids were happy to stay there. They loved the constant non-stop action. I did like how they announce the top for each age/category as well as the top overall. Cons - extremely large for a regional - very overwhelming when there are 3 rooms consistently going. We had a couple dancers on our team almost miss their award ceremony for another dance due to the multiple rooms and dance times. I wish there was a way to view photos/videos other then just online after purchasing. I was also surprised at how the beginner/lower level is supposed to be for anyone taking a combined 3 hours or less of dance/gymnastics but talent appeared to be a lot more - such as how can someone taking that few hours be able to pull off 2 solos with multiple turns, tumbling passes, etc? It just caught us off guard especially when there were almost 100 junior beginner soloists at a regional! This also leads to the ceremony being split in half. You can compete before the "first" ceremony and place in the top 10 but by the time overall placements are announced, you can be knocked out - a little discouraging in my opinion.
We love Showstopper! It is super big and don't necessarily like two rooms running, but somehow they make it work and it always runs smoothly. Staff is friendly. Love how affordable their merchandise is. Love how they have a teacher's tent with goodies, and an area of activities for small children. Judging is fair and I love how this competition does not cater to big studios. The placings are very fair. Looking forward to next season!!
Incredibly well organized. Being able to pull a schedule from their website is a simple but rare and fantastic perk. Fair and helpful judging. TERRIBLE venue for nationals. I can not say enough about how ridiculous it is to hold a children's event at a casino, but far worse is having to walk your kids through the smoke filled casino floor to get to the actual dance competition.
Look, they are great. Everything is professional and hi-tech. I think it's on par with some of the Break the Floor events quality wise. It's just a bit too impersonal though. Competitions are EXPENSIVE!!!!!!!!!!! I want to feel a little special.......
We've done this competition several times with a couple different studios over the past few years and it was great. Well organized.
Love this competition! Julian is the best MC ever. Very fair competition.
We really love Showstopper!! We love the venue they use. The staff that we encounter are all friendly. They had a wonderful tent set up for the teachers with snacks and drinks, which was so awesome. They also had a table set up with coloring pages and activities for kids. What a nice thing to have!! It is a huge competition with 2 stages running, which I generally don't like because sometimes there tends to be overlapping, but the event actually ran very smoothly and even a little bit ahead of schedule. I used to not like the awards ceremonies because I love comps that do special awards, however, with a comp as big as this, they do a fantastic job of sectioning awards ceremonies appropriately so not a million acts at one ceremony, and they get them out in about 15 minutes. One plus to it being a bigger comp is not having to rush to get ready when your dancer has 2 solos. Judging was fair and the judges seemed to be interested in the dances on stage. One thing that is always a pet peeve of mine is how common it is to have ties there. Our top 10 turned into a top 18. I really wish they would just break the ties and reserve the top 10 for those who truly belong in it. I know I wouldn't want my dancers to place by default. I wouldn't want a dancer to place with a tie for 10th when they were truly 20th, etc..Just a little annoyance, but otherwise we love this comp and can't wait till next year.
We attended the Wisconsin Dells Regional for the 2nd year in a row & really enjoyed it. The competition was well run & organized. Judging was fair & awards were generous. The video playbacks at awards were a nice touch. Merchandise pricing was great, and video pricing was truly amazing. The venue was perfect, with plenty of space & food options. The one thing I'd note is the stages were very slippery. I'm not sure what they were made of, but there was no marley, and we saw a fair number of slips & falls. The judges seemed to understand the issues & didn't appear to be deducting points, but it's something that could be addressed next year for sure. But overall, it was a great competition & I suspect we'll return next year.
IN LOVE WITH SHOWSTOPPERS! We re-attended for the first time since 2007 just because there are so many to try... & I'm glad I brought a new generation back! Kind staff, & very fair judging.
We attended this event in Tacoma, Wa in May. It was a great time! everything ran smoothly and on time. Everyone seemed friendly. Love the trophies given. I do wish the awards ceremony had some special awards, or something a bit more fun. Judging was very fair. It is a bit hard with two rooms running, as we had 2 acts literaally overlapping each other. But, luckily it worked out. Looking forward to Showstopper 2018!
We attended the Showstopper Dance Convention for the 1st time this past year. I have to say it is by far my absolute favorite. At first I was disappointed to hear they did not judge or do scholarships like other conventions until I attended it. WOW you such a difference with the children. My daughter loved that she could relax and enjoy the class. The Choreographers they choose are only the best and have so much fun and joy themselves. It is a long weekend of nothing but dance, you can't beat that. I will be going back every year now.
Dear Owners and Staff of Showstopper!! As a choreographer, dance teacher, and parent.....words can never express the gratitude and deep profound joy that I have after attending your competition for the first time in Arlington!! You seriously knocked it out of the ballpark!! From my students to my parents.....everyone in my studio is raving about this past weekend in Arlington!! This is my first season and what an amazing way to close out the regional season by attending a competition that is professionally owned and operated from beginning to end!!! We've attended a total of 6 regionals and clearly we saved the best for last!! I look forward to many more years of making Showstopper a priority and mandatory competition for my studio!!! I seriously can go on and on, about my happiness, but suffice to say....."You guys freaking rock!". Thank you again from the bottom of my heart!!! Joe Berry, aka "JB"
We go to Showstopper every year. We love going to the beach, but the competition isn't my favorite. They have 3 stages going at the same time, so you never can see everything even though they have video feed from the other stages you miss so much. The digital backgrounds take away from the dancer and makes the photo quality as well as video quality much lower. The awards they rush through, and half the time you cannot understand what they are saying so we just wait for the results to post on line to see final results on everything. This used to be our favorite competition, but it has gotten so big it just isn't as much fun any more.
We recently attended the Wisconsin Dells regional & had a great experience! The competition ran on time or ahead of schedule all weekend. Everything was organized & very professionally done. Video pricing was AMAZING, and merchandise was reasonable as well. We really liked the venue -- it was clean & had plenty of options for quick meals/snacks between dances. We thought the judging was fair & consistent with what we've seen at other competitions. Awards were generous, with recognition for a top 10 without ties, but the highest adjudications were reserved for the dances that truly deserved them, which we appreciated. The one negative thing I'd say was that our dancers found the stages to be smaller than what they were used to at other competitions & more slippery as well, so we had to make some last minute choreography adjustments. But overall our dancers & parents loved this competition! Edited to add that these were some of the best critiques my dancer received all season -- they were a great balance of things to improve upon as well as things the dancers were doing well.
Years ago I loved this competition. Things that turned me away then are still in play today (2 or more stages running simultaneously, confusing scoring system when they moved to adjudicated from the original ordinal format of 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc). Made for a very stressful weekend worrying if we would as directors be there for our dancers or possibly miss them completely. Luckily we were able to see each routine and attend each awards, but I know other studios who did not fare as well with this issue. They also do not stand behind their rules. One studio, in particular had competitive level dancers (same as an elite) competing in the performance (novice) category. And of course those kids took the 1st overall spots. I was told they use the honor system and do not move them to the proper ability division or give deductions in points for entering in the wrong division, even if it is totally apparent that they were cheating to get an overall award. Judging was fair and consistent otherwise, with the exception of they didn't give any silver medals and they tended to live in the gold and platinum score range for most the competition, with the exception of the Competitive level, then they lived in the platinum and double platinum range. I did like that they were stingy with their crystal awards however. But they are the most expensive competition on the market. I stopped going to Showstopper back in 2001. Came back due to cancellations of others that we had chosen to attend. The only positive was that we were done each night at a reasonable hour, which I understand that if they hadn't done 2 stages we would have been there hours longer. We will make this one optional in the future instead of a mandatory event for the whole team.
Please tell me they are not giving out 1 metal for duo/trio. If so this is something new, we have did this comp for years and like it. What's up with that now. Come on now, I understand the group, but most studios allow dancers to take home their solo and duet/trio awards. it really sucks the duo/trio has to pick which dancer gets the award. Come on Showstoppers, each individual paid for their participation in the duo/trio, if a top winner award them as such with 2 or 3 metals (trophies)
Showstopper has always been a favorite of mine. My biggest issue is during awards. I think they should call top overalls up to front of stage as most competitions do. Instead they call out your number and hand you your award and have you sit back down. These kids work hard. Have them stand up front and be proud of their accomplishments! Make a big deal about the 1st overall. We were in Pittsburgh and the school parking is awful and not enough dressing room space. :( I wish after all these years they would find a new venue.
This is our favorite competition to go to!
This was our first experience at ShowStopper and the team really enjoyed it. They tend to be more relaxed and pleasant. We went to the one in Lenoir, NC and was OK. They don't seem to be equipped with adequate dressing rooms which was stressful. The lack of hotels in the town is a negative. The actual competition was great though! We met some wonderful people from other studios and then saw them again at another dance competition just two weeks later. This was our first experience in having multiple stage competitions going on at the same time. We called it a learning experience. OH! And for the price, there videos are the best we have ever gotten. They had close up and long range shots and the quality of clarity was good.
Our studio loves Showstopper! We have attended numerous times and it is by far our favorite. The quality of dancers we see there are always incredible. The atmosphere and the staff are always great and the venue has been great. The awards are very nice and the dancers always really enjoy this competition.
We attend this competition every year and each year are more pleased with the way it is run. We love how the judging is done and how placement is known no matter what place you come in! Highly recommend this competition!!!
Showstoppers was a fun competition! My students had a great time and the judging was always fair. They never gave favor to lots of tricks and cared about clean dances with lots of technique. The only complaint is the award ceremony. They took a very long time to announce each dances individual award but barely gave attention to dances that placed overall.
This is a terrific Competition! Ran on time and was well organize! We will be back in 2017!
I can\'t even begin to list all the great things about this event. They seem to be the best and most experienced all around.
Exceptional convention as usual! Wish the juniors had a ballet class, but they got so much amazing instruction!
I\'m a little late with this, but wanted to say, they did a great job at our Nationals we attended in Orlando this past June. So friendly! Wish there were a few more competitor\'s in some of the age/skill levels but, overall well done. Really liked that there was an overall competition at the end of the week for highest scoring dances, that was a lot of fun for the girls to dance again and dance hard!!
We attended showstoppers last comp season in Woodbridge VA and we can\'t wait to go back this year. great comp. ran on time.more than fair judging. great trophies. love love love. Only thing I would say is one of the stages could have been a little bigger, my dancer needed more room for her solo.
Great comp!
Does it get any better than Showstopper? Not really!!! Always our favorite competition of the year!
We had a wonderful time at both a regional and a national competition. Very organized. Was worried about the lack of a backstage manager initially, but it worked well. Judging was consistent, fair, and the judges gave excellent critiques. Friendly staff. Awards ceremonies moved quickly, which I loved, though I can understand some being disappointed that there are no \"extras.\" Despite not having a lineup of the top ten, my dancers loved being able to see their routines displayed on the screen when they were announced. Only complaint was the size - multiple stages meant that parents with multiple dancers sometimes had some tough situations. Regardless, the organizers handled it well, and were willing to work with our teachers to make sure everyone could be on stage when they needed to be. Overall, an excellent experience.
Always so well run & professional!
Our studio has been attending this competition\'s Regionals and Nationals for over 10 years consistently. Our studio is mainly hip hop so we already feel at a disadvantage before we even get started. However for the past couple of years, we feel we were judged pretty fairly coming out with 5-8 crystal awards and placing too ten with a few dances. We just attended the Showstoppers Arlington competition this weekend and our kids routines were amazing. They gave higher scores to other studios who did the whip and the nae nae for hip hop routines while ours are intricate and clean since that is our studios focus. Our kids work so hard and were really dissapointed in the results even though they danced amazingly. The judges this year do not seem well versed on hip hop at all. I feel like if you are going to have the category, you need to understand that there are several types of hip hop. There is lyrical hip hop, old school hip hop, hype hip hop, character hip hop. For us to constantly spend so much money coming to regionals and nationals each year, at least do us the courtesy of having well versed hip hop judges who can actually critique and give good feed back. We also did not like the bright lights on in the house while the dancers were performing, music was low, and we really didn\'t like that there\'s no stage manager backstage. It made it seem really impersonal. We are not sure if we will be back next year which is a shame as it is usually the highlight of our competition season.
Our studio attended Showstopper this weekend and what a wonderful breath of fresh air to the competition world! It was right on time, we were so well informed and all the communications about when and what stage to perform on were super easy. I also love that they respected our dancers educations by starting after school on Friday and ending early on Sunday, even though it was a huge event. The staging, hosts, video playbacks during awards were all as professional as a concert tour and we just plain had the most FUN we have ever had on a dance competition weekend.
2020 UPDATE: After 5 years ofTacoma Showstopper regionals and 2 Anaheim nationals, it has become a favorite. Looking forward to 2020 regionals! 2016: Showstopper is a an alright competition. I definitely have mixed feelings about it. It\'s huge. Understanding that, with so many entries, starting earlier on Friday would be better than ending so late on a Sunday, many schools have half days on Fridays. The Tacoma Convention Center is a nice venue however the use of adjacent stages and location of warm up areas and dressing rooms is very distracting. Sound is horrible, unless you are sitting front and center you cannot hear the music of the performer(s) on stage. Even when sitting front and center you cannot hear or understand the announcers very well during awards, the kids on stage also had trouble hearing and understanding them. They have several shorter awards, which is better than waiting hours between ceremonies, but they seem a bit lackluster, except the replay of videos and Just Dance, those things are awesome! While they tout being family friendly, judging seems to be a bit contrary to that message. The Convention Center staff were not very friendly.
We attended in tacoma this weekend. This was our 4th year in a row. We have always liked Showstopper, but not as much this year. The good. Event ran on time, staff seemed nice, judging seemed fair. I liked how they have screens up and in between dances they flash next 3 dances up.The trophies are nice and I like how they do a top 10 overall, but also do placings within age (11) and category (jazz). The bad. It is too BIG.Close to or at 1000 entries. 2 rooms running. There was no one backstage to check in with. Doors were open to rooms, people constantly walking in and out while kids are on stage. You can hear all the music and cheering between rooms and it was distracting. Lights are on during dances. Awards ceremony was boring. They did not make it fun for dancers and hardly any interaction with dancers other than calling them up. The top 10 overall didn\'t even get to stand on stage and be acknowledged. Scoring system is weird too.Dp and platinum is such a small range and they always end up with so many ties. A top 10 ends up always being a top 12-18.No special awards. Really wish they\'d cut the entries down to half or 3/4 the size. We have always liked this comp, but this was the worst year, but still willing to give it another try next year.
Great competition. Very professional. Staff seems wonderful, other dancers were very talented and nice. While I appreciate the fact that they want to hurry through awards, they went so fast it was kind of hard to keep up with. Most of the scores were well deserved. Really no complaints from our weekend of dance.
Best competition out there!! The awards are quick and frequent. They judges give great feedback on the video critiques. They take excellent pictures of all the dances and always have the competition at a great venue.Their conventions are also fabulous!!
Was at Showstoppers this past weekend and all I can say is they really know how to put on a great competition. The scheduling was nearly to the minute even with multiple stages going, and even though the event was huge the hours were reasonable. I love that they respect our children\'s education by not starting during school hours and end so they can get some rest from day-to-day. That didn\'t go unnoticed by all my studios\' parents. Great staging, announcing, fair judging and I always felt well informed about when my dances were going on. And I LOVED the trophys and huge screens they use to make it all so much fun!
We had a great fun time at Showstoppers! Extremely organized and on time. Trophies and medals were over the top. Loved the backdrops and playbacks during awards. Fair judging with constructive comments.

Great comp. Organized, on time. Friendly staff. Loved the FAIR judging and streamlined awards... No fluff stuff here! Trophies and medals were good quality. Merchandise available for sale were reasonably priced. The emcees were awesome! Loved the comments about the routines and the backdrop screens during awards. The cons: well, having the dressing room directly backstage-big mistake! Dancers were screamingand yelling during solo dances and it was heard all the way into the audience during routines. Very inappropriate and distracting for the dancers onstage.
Love the $3.99 video promotion. That being said, video cameras were directly in front of stage or to the side. With bigger groups, few girls were included when they filmed and it made an awkward video from the side. My kid tries to use competition video for visual feedback and make corrections. That is difficult to do if they are not in the video.
Fun competition, reasonably priced t-shirts and dance wear for sale. Love the $3.99 video promo. Beautiful photos were captured but they were just too expensive to buy. The stage was very small - worried the minis might fall off during productions. Improved venue location this year from previous years we have attended.
We have been to numerous Showstoppers in the past. My favorite comp of all. Nice stage sets, professional staffers, always on time, fair judging, great trophies & medals. Didn\'t care so much for this venue. Stage seemed smaller. Auditorium seats were old. Barely could see stage if someone sat in front of you. Sad there will be no nationals in Sandusky this year! :( Great all around competition.
Hi! We\'re so glad you had a great time at Showstopper this past weekend! We\'ve been told that the auditorium will be remodeled, with new seats, by our competition next year :) We\'ll also be going back to Sandusky for both regionals AND finals in 2017! The schedule is up on our website now if you want to take a look :) Hope to see you again soon!!
I could not say enough good things about Showstoppers! From their in point scheduling, awesome staff, qualified judges that give great feedback, to the high energy feeling of it all our studio LOVES this competition!! Keep up the great work!!
Thanks so much! We hope to see you again soon!! :)
First time attending Showstoppers and it was fabulous! The MC was fabulous. Awards were quick and ran smoothly and was surprised by the trophy size. Schedule ran early. Only thing I would change would be photo and video pricing as it was by far the most expensive I\'ve ever seen. Definitely a competition that I would recommend to others.
MamaG, We are so glad you had a blast at our competition and love our trophies! Please check out our videos at goshowstopper.com. They are only $3.99 if purchased during the competition and $5.99 if purchased after! We strive to make sure everyone gets to take memories home! We hope to see you again soon! :)
We LOVE showstopper! The kids have so much fun! They have so many cool effects with the lights and watching the award winning dances on the screen. The staff is so wonderful and the judges are so helpful and so uplifting for the girls. The only issue we had was we had never been to a competition where they competed in two rooms and that was very stressful with only having two teachers and wanting to be in two places at once. That was the only hard part.
was the best comp ever everything as amazing
I attended the Sandusky, Ohio regionals at Kalahari Resort last year and loved it! This was my first time going to a Showstopper competition. It was pretty organized and ran on time. (For the most part) I thought that the staff was friendly and helpful. The judging seemed to be extremely fair. Last year was our studio\'s second year ever doing competitions and we took overall awards for every dance, so they aren\'t just giving awards to large, repeat customers. Unfortunately, my studio isn\'t returning this year but the studio director said we definitely will next year!! My only complaint is that one of the duets we entered was a hip hop duet that got 5th overall. They only got one medal? (Showstopper gives out one trophy for the studio and then medals for each dancer in the number.) Once the studio director talked to the staff of the competition they handled it in a very professional manner and eventually both of the dancers received their medals. Thai competition is very fun, organized, and professional. Definitely would love to come back for sure!
This was our first year at Showstopper and it was a fantastic experience! Our girls had a great time. Would definitely send them to this competition again in the future.
My girls love ShowStoppers. We have been competing with them for 4 years at both Regionals and Nationals. The dancers love the energy and the trophies. It is nice to see the acts on the screen and also be able to watch acts in the other room. I do wish that they had a backstage manager. The judging is always fair. Its a very large competition but they are usually right on schedule!
Great experience.
Great Competition. Well organized and runs pretty close to schedule. One of my favorite competitions

We enjoyed being a part of Showstopper and look forward to more competitions with them
This competition is one of our favorites. It is very well run and organized and the kids have a lot of fun. This is a very big competition, and I am always surprised how well run it is!
Great competition! Very good at staying on time. Great energy!!
We have always been pleased with this professional competition.
So much fun! great experience!
This is a beautiful, well run competition! The stage lighting and sets are incredible and the truly professional videography is cinematic!!! They\'ve got great vendors with reasonably priced gear and gorgeous trophies. Competition runs on time and was often ahead of schedule. Judging was on target and appreciated the heart and abilities of each dancer and the attributes they offer even though the range of abilities varied greatly. Positive experience for our team!
We just attended the convention for the 2nd year in a row in Biloxi MS. This year didnt seem quite as good as last year. We didnt receive a bag, this year it was for purchase only. This year seemed a little less enthusiastic too. There were rainstorms and flooding forecasted the second day of convention so we opted to sit it out.
Great comp. I prefer conventions and wish this was one. Only issue os studios misplacing their dancers. This should be discouraged but no one says anything. Not fair for the true recreational dancer to compete against somene dancing 20plus hrs/wk but one studio clearly does this and gets away with it every year.
:)
FUN!
Our girls LOVE Showstopper competitions and so do the parents!!! This company is top-notch at being positive, welcoming, and supportive of all of the dancers! They truly make you feel that you have improved yourself as a dancer by offering positive comments and feedback. Always a fabulous experience!!! :)
Wonderful convention. My daughter learned so much. Can\'t wait to go again this year!
We a attend Showstopper every year as an optional comp because we love it so much. Fair judges, great feedback and great awards and presentation.
One of our favorites. Always fun an entertaining and pretty much always runs on schedule!
Our favorite comp!!! Very well run. Rarely behind.
Overall just average, dressing room not able to handle the large number of parents and students. It was a messy and not clean all weekend. One room was running on time, the other was not. Very little scoring difference between routines that were excellent and ones that were average. Really over the large amount of crap sold in lobby, prefer focus on good sportsmanship, encouraging watching others dance. To gimmicky for me
Showstoppers is the most exciting and amazing National Finals in America. So professional it\'s like performing on a television show all week long! Fun, wonderfully organized, fair judging and classes with the best instructors we have ever taken from, and the classes are included in the competition fees! No extra \"convention fees\" for the classes!! Pretty remarkable value. A truly memorable week and the best experience our dancers have ever had.
Our favorite. Amazing organization, runs on time, and truly top notch staging and production. At this year\'s finals we had a wonderful time, well worth the experience. Lots of judges and very fair judging and plenty of fun activities for the dancers and the whole family.
It was an alright competition overall. I was disappointed that they ran 1 hour behind in both rooms. I found out when I went to check in a student and the stage manager questioned me why we were there so early. If anyone was announcing it into the dressing rooms, it wasn\'t getting to the back of the cafeteria which was the dressing room. The schedule made no sense. My 10 year old soloist ended up competing at 10:00pm, while my 19 year old soloist ended up competing at 5:00pm. The schedule was very spread out which gave plenty of time to relax between routines, but made for a really long weekend. The dressing rooms was difficult to get in and out of as it had a make shift entrance that you couldn\'t see if others were coming in or out. The large studio in the front ended up taking up so much room and left no pathway to get to the back of the room. The awards were good, but dragged on a bit. The judging was useless. They had very little comments (praises or critiques) with very low quality of the video. The stages were nice and most of the stage staff were friendly. My students seemed to enjoy themselves and did well, which is what is the most important. I would be willing to go back to see if it is any better this year, if this years schedule didn\'t conflict with gymnastic state meets, that some of my students are in.
We just returned from East Coast finals in Myrtle Beach. Showstoppers was truly amazing! Master classes were wonderful. I love that everyone seems so genuine at this competition.
Fikshun is incredible!! His workshop was the most fun and inspirational I\'ve ever taken. Love Showstoppers! #whoa #nationals2015
Easily the best Nationals we\'ve ever been to! There is nothing we would have changed. Thanks for the great experience!
EXCELLENT COMPETITION! Very well organized, great staff, highly-qualified judges, and excellent feedback & critiques. Everything you could have asked for and more! Come here for a great experience!
Best in the biz!! I admit our studio can be a pain but they handled all our special requests and changes wonderfully. Thanks Showstoppers!
I have gone to Showstoppers since they went to Spokane 30 some years ago. Now it is in Tacoma and the venue is not the best as there are not very many facilities surrounding the Tacoma Convention Center. I really enjoy Nan who runs that particular competition and it seems to go very smoothly. The dressing room needs to be bigger. I would like them to look into the Convention Center in Portland, Oregon as there are more hotels close to that convention center and many more places to eat and more things for families to do when not competing.
Lots of Fun and kids enjoyed it. Well run event!
Attended the Battle Creek competition in March, and hands down the best competition. On time, awards were fair and moved along, and the whole atmosphere is exciting!! Trophies were awesome, especially the crystal ones. Would highly recommend this competition....
Hands down the pink gem on their trophies was my dancer\'s favorite. Fun competition. They played a portion of the winning routine during award announcement - which was great parents usually aren\'t able to watch every performance of the day,
its fun and the trophies are nice. Awards seemed to be appropriate for the most part based on the skill level of the dancer and the performance. It has not ran on time in the 2 years we have done it (over an hour)and they choose the worst venue. They choose one if the smallest and oldest local school auditoriums. There is no convention and the second stage is quite small. Dressing rooms were a free for all and chaotic. Also everyone qualifies for nationals it\'s a business who will happily take your money you must enter a regional but it does not matter how well you did there in order to move on to nationals so you can get a \"national\" title without even winning a regional. Go figure.
Not a bad competition, not a fan of the backstage crew- I like backstage staff to be interactive, and I don\'t feel like they do that here. But overall- we have an ok experience with Showstoppers.
LOVE THIS COMPETITION !
Very disappointed in this competition. They had three different stages running at the same time and some dancers had to be on different stages at almost the same time. The weather delayed the comp on Fri. night but it was even more delayed when we waited 30 mins. For one studio to perform their last routine. Awards were delayed over an hour and didn\'t finish until after midnight and then they rudely pushed everyone out of the venue. Some of the dancers that were there until well after midnight were scheduled to dance at 7:45 the next morning. Then the same thing happened with teen solos the next day and there were no issues with weather. Awards were over an hour late. The scores were very inconsistent and I can\'t find an explanation anywhere. We had already quit going to convention and now we won\'t go to competition either. There were two other comps in the area this weekend we have other choices.
I am so sorry that you had such a negative experience. We work very hard to make sure everything is running on time and scored correctly. I sincerely apologize that this was not your experience. Really the best run dance event! One of the few that seems to truly execute fair judging and rewards age appropriateness. They don\'t start during school hours which is a total deal-breaker for or studio. Well organized and the staff is positive, amazing hi-tech backgrounds and a very positive and encouraging environment with awesome trophies. We go every year and are going to Nationals this year. Very excited!
We have been going to Showstoppers for the past 8 years and NEVER have I seen them give out so many Golds! What changed?
Showstopper is always our favorite! Our studio has attended for the last 8 years. We have always come home with critiques from the judges that have been useful to our teachers. The audio and staging is best I have ever seen at a competition. The awards ceremony is quick, exciting and fun! The venues we have been to are large with wonderful dressing areas. I can’t wait to go back to a Showstopper competition!
More then disappointed with Showstopper. We have been doing this competition for more than 13 years. Backstage was not ran smooth at all, they were rude and pushy. Our dancers were told they would not wait on them while they were doing a quick costume change! The award ceremony was long & they announced and had every single act it seemed like line up. As far as the scoring went it was very sporadic. I\'ve never seen anything quite like it.
I deeply sorry that you had such a negative experience at one of our shows. If you have time, I would appreciate the opportunity to speak with you directly so that we can find a way to make it up to you. Overall slightly disappointed with our experience at Showstopper this weekend. With no stage manager, backstage has hectic and unorganized with scheduling issues. The awards were rushed and no judges/special awards were given. The judges also were conversing and laughing with each other during our performance. Very unprofessional. We love, love, love Showstopper Convention but sadly cannot say the same of their competition.
I am absolutely horrified that you had such a bad experience and want to sincerely and formally apologize to you. I would appreciate the opportunity to speak with you directly so that we can either make it up to you or use your experience as an opportunity to grow and change. Had a fabulous and uplifting dance weekend in Columbus with Showstopper. They are just the best!
Showstopper & Starpower are the best competitions out there. We love That showstopper does top 10 for overalls because most competitions well do a top 3 out of 8 and that to me just isn\'t right. The overall winner gets to see their dance on a screen. The personnel is just a awesome!!! The convention is awesome! We love it!
Absolutely the best run dance event of any we have attended through the past many years! One of the few that seems to truly execute fair judging and reward age appropriateness. It is well organized and the staff is wonderful. A positive encouraging environment with awesome trophies, staging, great merchandise (never a rip off, always a great value!) and all the extras. Their attention to details to make the experience wonderful for teachers and dancers is quite incredible. We will go back every year.
After 10 years - we\'re saying goodbye to Showstopper. The impersonal nature of the comp has us feeling unappreciated. Scheduling has always be manageable but the addition of the 2nd stage sucked the fun out of the weekend. I totally understand it\'s need and understand you were flexible in when your routines went on, but it added unnecessary stress of the unknown to the weekend. Often parents missed their own children or dancers missed their own awards ceremonies. Having the awards emcee come on shushing the kids and telling them to settle down came across harsh and unnecessary. I know you were down a stage manager but your sub would ask our dancers what # was on stage and how long the judges\' break would be. Sometimes you need to fake it until you make it. Also watching your staff get angry and scold the stage made the dancers very uncomfortable. Your fees have also become unreasonable. For the price of your fees, I could have my dancers attend a different competition and a convention.
Nope, never again! Too much chaos, no stage manager, and kids competing in the obvious wrong division (in performance when they should be advanced or competitive). They do not give special awards (judges choice, entertainment, choreography, etc) and the awards themselves feel so rushed. We left the feeling exhausted, broke (fees are really high) and disheartened! I wanted to love this competition, but I
I am so sorry that you felt that we did not provide a fair and balanced experience. This is our second year at Showstopper here in Ohio and it is an exceptional experience in really every way. The awards, staging, venue, staff, merchandise, and their encouragement and recognition given to all the dancers during awards and the whole weekend is remarkable.
Showstopper seems to be everyones favorite in my area. They make every dancer feel special thanks to Julian!! Well organized and professional. Disappointing that they didn\'t bring enough tour T-shirts to the competition. First year daughter didn\'t get on in 5 years.
Competition went well. So glad we had a theater stage instead of the temporary ones we were on two years ago. We were allowed a little extra time for costume change as needed, which is great! Awards were pretty consistent. There were some dances moved to different levels than were listed in program and a few dances added after program was printed. That made it a little more difficult to keep up with during awards. There were a couple of judges who were very difficult to hear if not inaudible during our audio critiques. Those we could understand were both constructive and encouraging. We were unable to view videos due to the crowd and all the dances we participated in were on Sunday. It has taken a month for them to be posted. I can see about 5 seconds before the video stops to buffer on my laptop. I am still unable to view the entire 15 sec preview. That is probably something due to my computer. Attempted to purchase a video as advertised $5.99 per download but I am unable to see how to do so. When I attempt to purchase, I am being billed for the $25 for first dance on dvd. Not sure what I am doing wrong there.
The fact that they have been around for over 30 years is evident in the professionalism of this competition. A class act all the way around, and great awards and venues for the dancers. We start our season every year with Showstopper and are always excited to attend!
I really only have one complaint about this competition, but it is a big one. Despite, the fact that they state in their rules that they will move a dance that is obviously underplaced, they will not. Their were several dances that were very obviously underplaced in order to win, and instead of moving them they awarded them with their top overall awards. Hoping we will not return unless they fix this issue.
Fun competition. Only bad comment wish they would move through Awards a bit faster. Love having this competition at the Cannon Center. Very friendly staff.
Positive, encouraging, friendly staff and organized! You can go online, type in your child\'s name and birth date, and receive their personal schedule with times about a week in advance. This is helpful if you have family that plans to attend. The times are not exact but they are close. Also, I like the fact that they were flexible if need be. For example, if a dance had too fast of a quick change, they would allow for slight changes in the schedule in order not to stress the dancer. Also, I noticed they had a lot of staff, which is important when you need to find someone or ask a question. Judging seemed very fair and the judges had credentials that you could read online. The judges seemed very focused the entire time, even thought it was a long competition.

Great time at Lenoir! It is a fun and fair competition and we had a blast :-)
Loved the personal schedule. This comp scored very hard but the tough critiques were appreciated. I think there was a problem with studios not placing their students in the correct competition level. There were VERY FEW entries in the competitive level and many of the entries probably should have been. The trophies were beautiful. My kids have said they are their favorite and $5.99 per routine for videos is amazing.
Love this competition. They truly do score dancers to the best of their ability. We have never been disappointed with Showstoppers. Its a must do competition each year.
One of the best run dance events! One of the few that seems to truly execute fair judging and reward age appropriateness. It is well organized and the staff is positive. An encouraging environment with awesome trophies. I would go back every year.
One of the best competitions out there! The emcee Julian is fantastic with the kids, he makes them all feel so special and he makes it so fun! Great trophies and recognition. We attend the one in San Mateo and it is packed with he best studios in the area. Nationals in Anaheim was ran well and on time, with 3 stages to accommodate all the numbers. Do not miss this comp!
Amazing family oriented conventions!!
Love this competition. Events are well run, judging is fair and feedback is useful. Video playback during awards is great. Backstage staff is professional and nice. The personal schedule software is also very nice.
First time at Showstoppers. Very organized and professional.
Did convention in January. LOVE!!! They had some of the same instructors we have grown to love and expect to see each year; and they added some new ones this year ... all of which are super knowledge in their particular areas. So glad our studio goes every year!!
Last weekend was an amazing experience we had at Showstopper. It was technically awesome, right on time and we had such a great time. Showstopper is just very simply the very best in every way.
A truly incredible experience last weekend. The dancers and their parents at my studio love Showstoppers. Their is nothing like the professionalism of the staging, awards, scheduling, judging and kindness of this organization.
Not shocked this has great reviews, amazing competition! I love how they don\'t just say if you get (usually a low score) you qualify for nationals it\'s a higher score so you have to work harder. I also loved how the scoring made sense (no double ruby pink sparkle diamond with a twist). Made every competitive level feel special, not just the competitive level. Great feedback, great judges, great backdrop and great venue everyone was so friendly!
We have had good experiences with this competition. Well run and organized.
This year they were off their normal game a little. They had some technical difficulties and were running a little behind on the last day of the competition. They still have video screens that show who is coming up next for the next three dances, which is helpful to know where they are in the program. Additionally, they replay a portion of the dance at awards when they announce the top awards which is always fun. I do wish that they listed the studios in the program. If the studios do not get first or place in the top ten you do not know what studio they are. They do give out very nice trophies, and I was glad to see they switched them to a new style trophy this year. I thought the judging was fair. However, I did notice this year the judges were a little tougher overall versus last year in their scoring. It was a very long weekend for the dancers with early mornings and late nights, so it was impossible to stay for all the teams dances and awards.
I am so sorry that you felt that we did not give you the full Showstopper experience. We have worked hard to create an environment that is fun, well run, and judged fairly so I want to apologize if that was not your experience. Top of the line. Very professional -- large but well run. They build up every area of the venue to look and feel special for the dancers. Love the emcee Julian ... he is kind and thoughtful. The whole experience is well designed and enjoyable.
Regionals in Concord fabulous-Very well run and on time! Our dancers had a blast. Went to Nationals in Myrtle Beach. It was huge, great staging, reasonably priced, parent-friendly, kid-friendly competition! Judging seemed very fair and consistent. Would highly recommend!
We just had the most amazing weekend ever with Showstopper in Sevierville)!!!! We LOVE Showstopper!
The absolute best competition we have ever attended! Very professional. Great judging and always on time! We love the value, great trophies, unbelievable playbacks and fun award sessions. It\'s my favorite competition!!
Do yourself a favor and go to Showstopper! I think it\'s one of the best run comps we go to. We have NEVER had a bad time.
After reading some of the \'outstanding\' reviews, I wonder if the problems we had in Omaha were atypical of their normal events. On the plus side, yes they have great trophies, yes they have a cool light up techno backdrop, and yes they have a camera guy on a boom (getting weird angles and footage that often leaves whole sections out of the video) but what they didn\'t have in Omaha was a backstage staff? So, if you had kids with quick changes there was nobody to tell, no way to ask them to if they were ready for you, or if they could hold for a minute, etc. Your dances name might be listed on the screen one minute, and then drop off the next. No explanation - you just had to figure it out. That happened with one of our dances, the girls then heard their dance called and they had to run to the stage and race on out of breath! We found it to be very disorganized. In reference to the bright backlighting from the \'cool\' backdrop, I hated it. Mainly because whoever was in charge would see a word in the title and make an assumption about a dance and play some crazy light patterns (ie. a yellow/gold bright moving backdrop for a number that was really slow and sad or dark) It actually hurt my eyes trying to watch a dance one time because it was so bright and overbearing. Another time, we had a prop on stage and it was backlit so brightly it altered the whole look and feel of the dance. The choice of the clips used for awards was interesting -one time they played a part where the camera was on a few girls just standing in place for an 8 count during a roll off in a tap number(not showing the oes tapping)...Overall our numbers scored very well and we got lots of pretty trophies but Showstopper was the most expensive competition we attended, from entry fees to the programs. Maybe they could spend less on the tech and hire more staff. IT is not on our list this year. Average at best

This is a great competition. They have video screens that show who is coming up next for the next three dances. Additionally, they replay a portion of the dance at awards when they announce the adjudicated awards. They also give out very nice trophies. The seem very professional and are good about trying to stay on time.
Very well organized and the staff is very friendly. I love that they are super strict on who they allow backstage and when. It makes it a lot easier on my students for knowing when they are supposed to be on so there is no confusion. The critiques are great! Highly recommend it!
Amazing events year after year. They have competing down to a science. We will continue to go back!
We love Showstoppers!!!

Our favorite every year. We look forward to it and have a great time!
We went to their nationals and it was wonderful!
Just returned from their nationals and it was a truly great experience! Judging was spot on and the show went like clockwork. Even though it was huge, with the three rooms our families had time for other fun things, since it was \"vacation time\" too. The awards and awards presentations were fabulous and the attention to detail was the highest I\'ve ever experienced. A great week!
Our favorite! The judging is always fair (and we don\'t always win), the technology and staging is superior to others. Our students look forward to going every year.
Have been attending this competition for many years and am so sad that I have to give it three stars. I have always loved Ed and felt that this competition was at the cutting edge with technology, but we\'ve had a lot of problems lately. They split our studio up in two different schools multiple times. They lost scoring sheets and had problems with their videos so I didn\'t have feedback for all my dances. This year, they announced two large groups as receiving a gold. I was shocked but never argue with competitions. When I got back to the studio and checked the score sheets they were actually double platinums but took points off for tumbling. We were under the 3 maximum tumbling tricks so a called and emailed the competition twice. They said they would review but I never heard back. It\'s so sad that my kids were hurt and we were following the rules. I still think this competition has a lot of great qualities, but would mostly like to see better customer service. It does a great job running on time.

Just returned from nationals and we all still have a glow of excitement and happiness. Showstoppers is truly one of a kind. All our dancers felt like stars the whole week. An incredible value, they were so amazing in about every way from start to finish. We loved it, and as a studio owner what I loved the most is by the professionalism, production value and fairness, they make ME look good to all the dancers and parents at the studio, like I\'m the genius who picked attending Showstoppers!!
The competition was organized & ran on time, but only because it split the competition into 2 different venues (at the last minute & without warning people beforehand). I liked that they had 5 shorter sessions (rather than 3 longer ones) during the day -- it sped things up considerably for those who only had 1-2 dances. The judging was significantly different from other competitions we\'ve been at -- they definitely seemed to favor cute & happy dances over those with strongtechnique. However, they also are the ONLY competition I\'ve seen actually follow through & deduct points for routines that were obviously not family friendly/appropriate, so kudos to the competition & judges for taking a stand there.
I am so sorry for the last minute change. We apologize for inconvenience. We work hard to make sure that our judging is far and consistent, so I am sorry if that was not your experience. Overall we really enjoyed it! The dressing area while large was a room right beside the audience area and you could see girls changing while sitting in the audience. We would go back for sure!!

Our favorite for years, although not crazy about the addition of Thursday at our regional competition - it makes it tough on dancers that have to drive 2-3 hours. Always on time, adjudication always fair and consistent!
This was the first time we attended Showstopper and I was totally astounded at the quality and professionalism of the entire show! The whole staff was so nice and it was very relaxed and smooth running. There were 3 stages which scared me at first but it was absolutely the most stress free competition I have ever attended. I got an awesome USB flash drive at the event of all the judges critiques, the awards and trophies were beautiful! Plus the videos were only about $7!!!!! That is amazing in itself!! We will definitely be going to Showstopper every year from now on!
We love Showstoppers! Extremely consistent scoring! Very professional rewards with lots of great comments!
We always enjoy the competition. Very organized. Our teams seem to do real well. Went to a new location this year. Plenty of seating and dressing rooms. Going to their Nationals. Hope it is just a great as Regionals
This is the most organized and \"on-time\" competitions we have ever been to. The awards ran quickly, but not too fast so that you could still understand everything. The judges were very qualified with good comments.
Great competition! Fair an well run.
Show stopper is our favorite. The judges are unbiased and their award ceremony is quick and wonderful! I highly recommend this competition.
I love showstopper! My favorite competition with the best awards ceremony! It is like the Grammys
This was our first year attending and it was a great comp, no complaints. Everything ran smoothly and a bit ahead of schedule.
Extremely pleased with organization and format!
Showstopper is an exceptional company. They are outstanding in every aspect I can think of...awards, staging, venues, staff, merchandise, and professionalism. Their regional and finals are the high point of our season every year and we love the encouragement and recognition given to all the dancers during awards!
Excellent competition from start to finish.
The VERY BEST!! As a teacher I can say this is the ultimate dance organization and the staff. Showstopper goes beyond expectations, its fun, professional, inspiring and spectacular!
Showstopper has been our best competition (and also convention) experience, nothing has come close yet...from both teacher\'s and students perspective. Wonderful stage and lighting, schedule was quite incredible even with all the performance rooms going. Lots of dancers, competition and excitement without waiting forever in between routines for yours to come up. Experienced and qualified judging. Great awards and lots of positive recognition for the dancers. I could go on and on about all the extras, but let\'s just say we all love the whole experience.
Always a class act. we love Julian!!! love the monitors back stage to tell you what dance is up next. just wish they would have a backstage manager just in case you can\'t make it back so you don\'t have to send a teacher to the audience to tell mc. love their nationals too they make teachers feel like queens :) love the screens in the audience that tell what dance is on screen and in the other room, very helpful
We LOVE Showstoppers because it\'s the best competition experience anywhere. They go above and beyond to make it a very special weekend for all the dancers and our parents that attend. Its always FULL, and I\'m sure its because they handle everything so professionally and seamlessly and their production is fabulous. And that\'s why they are our favorite and the best!!
I am not a fan of Showstopper. The 3 stages & ALL day dancing is just too much. Different rooms with different judges, 4 & unders judged with 8 yr olds, & sound systems that stop/skip the music in ALL the rooms on numerous occasions. Not a good experience.
My apologies that you had a negative experience at one of our shows. Showstopper is always a lot of fun, but PLEASE limit the number of entries!!! There is no reason that dancers should be there for 16 hours a day - literally. Also, please reinforce your built up stages - they shouldn\'t \"break\" during dances. And if there\'s any way to make the stages less slippery, especially for tappers, that\'d be great! Otherwise, awards ceremonies are great, and we love those crystal trophies!!
My apologies for the problems you encountered at one of our shows. We have worked hard to create an environment that is fun, well run, and totally safe so I\'m sorry if that was not your experience. We LOVE Showstopper competitions. It\'s our favorite weekend of the comp season. The people are wonderful and so kind to all the dancers. We would never dream of missing one of their competitions
Best comp I\'ve ever been too. Very organized, runs on schedule, and beautiful stages! I also love love love the cheap souvenirs at this comp!
Just got back from the Showstoppers Competition in Myrtle Beach! I found it to be well organized. The staff was friendly and helpful. Overall a wonderful experience!
Showstopper is a fave of ours. We love the atmosphere and the 3 stages. There is always something amazing to watch. The only negative I can say is I would like to see a new system for tie breakers. Seems there are way to many ties in the overalls. And ties for 1st place are very disappointing. Overall it is a great competition. Very professional, friendly and fair.
Thanks you so much for the kind word about our event. I would appreciate the opportunity to speak with you directly so that I can get your specific input on your tie breaking ideas. Love Showstoppers!! Great stages and Nationals Big SHow is great! Wish they would bring a regional to the Metro Detroit area instead of Battle Creek!!
Very nice competition! Beautiful trophies & medals. Only thing I might add is some special awards! The kids look forward to them. Definitely one of my favorites!
The three stages in DFW kills us teachers!! I believe every stage ran behind this year. However, I we have attended this competition for three years because they critique fairly and they like jazz (or it appears they award jazz more than other competitions). We like that the dancers get medals for all their hard work. The new crystal award is something sought after highly by our dancers and they squeal with delight when they get one knowing they\'ve done their best! The new crystal award is something to behold!! The quality of the videos for sale could be raised a little and the new video critiques are nice (the music doesn\'t coincide with the dancing - but that\'s forgivable). The trophies are beautiful too; no boring plaques here. They do not cut corners. Their new backdrop is also lovely.
This was our third year attending Showstopper Dance Competition and I was amazed at the quality and professionalism of the whole show. Everyone was super nice and it was very relaxed. It was huge which scared me at first but it was seriously the most stress free competition I have ever attended. I got an awesome USB drive at the event of all the judges critiques. Plus the videos were only about $7!!!!!!! That is amazing in itself! We will be going to Showstopper Dance Competition every year now!
I usually love Showstopper but I have to say this year in Fort Worth was a disaster! There were over 1500 numbers entered, on 3 stages in different locations and I think I spent the entire weekend running form stage to stage. I have to choose between some of my entries and some of the dancers didn\'t even get to attend their awards because of the schedule. The backstage manager on the main stage was a little rude at times. I expect more from them! Either they needed to cut off the entries earlier or divide the competition as they do in Oaklahoma! I will still attend SS but probably not in my hometown.

Showstopper is always fun to attend. Always seems so up beat and really keeps our team so excited and into it!!
We have been attending Showstopper comp for the last 5 years! Attended their nationals last year in Myrtle Beach for the first time !Loved it ,so much fun ! Just wish they would give more in way of cash prizes and maybe some free national registrations! Costs are a little high and seem to raise a little each year! I do however recommend this comp to everyone, it is a fun and positive one to attend!
This was a well organized competition. It was a little difficult with three stages running, but it was fun to see so many studios competing. It ran close to on time which was impressive due to the size of the competition. The awards were a little confusing. I wasn\'t sure if we got first place in our category or if all platinum awards were called first place platinum.
We had a wonderful weekend of dance! Showstoppers is our favorite competition every year!
Convention: Professional and consistent with caring instructors; we attend every year and my daughter looks forward to it. Competition: Consistent, caring, professional. Ran on time.
This was our first time with Showstoppers and it was super! We loved the entire atmosphere of it. They had a great novelty \"shop,\" good MC\'s and judges, backstage handled things very professionally, and awards went smoothly as well. The quality of trophies handed out and sold is very nice, especially when compared to other competitions. They\'re more solid and sturdy and as a parent, that is appreciated. The only downfall was that everyone was lumped into one very hot cafeteria as a dressing room and it was very cramped, but I also realize that the competition doesn\'t have full control over that; it might be nice if in the future when looking for facilities to host the comps that better space is given to the competitors for changing. Overall, this was a great experience and I\'m anticipating that we\'ll return to Showstoppers in the future!
Showstoppers is a wonderful competition and we attend it every year!
The awards were amazing and the kids loved them. However during the awards ceremony it was impossible to understand what they were saying. Not sure of it was a bad sound system or they were holding the mics to close to their mouth. Awards ceremony was boring as well and no cash prizes were given. Overall it was an ok competition that I would go back to but not one of my favorites.

Competition was well organized and tastefully done. Multiple stages made things move quickly. Event organizers were polite and competent. Judges seemed to get it right and had diversified backgrounds. Quality dance studios participated. Awards handled very well. Trophies were big with lots of bling -- all the kids loved them! We would definitely go back. Great experience.
Love Showstopper! They always draw a huge crowd and are so friendly, professional, and run a top notch show all the way around. They make our dancers feel like stars and provide an atmosphere that allow the kids to have lots of fun too!
The greatest competition! Absolutely the best! Friendly, helpful staff, and ran just slightly ahead of schedule, amazing stages, lighting and sound. Beautiful awards with lots of recognition for the dancers! Four judges for every stage and they were great and excited to see every routine. It was a fantastic experience and can\'t wait to go back next year!!
Well run! Greatly appreciated the judges\'s appreciation of technique over flash. Love when judges appreciate substance. The wins at this competition always mean the most to our studio. Thank you!
Great competion! The kids had so much fun and the staff was very friendly and helpful.
Great competition! Great time! Very positive experience!!
Thanks to Showstopper we had an amazing weekend in Ohio a couple weeks ago! My dancers and their parents had an absolute blast! We tend not to do many competitions...we mainly attend conventions. The main reason I avoid competitions is because they are usually so unorganized and the days seem to drag forever, especially when they run the competition soooo late into the evenings...even on Sundays! Showstopper was the COMPLETE opposite! Three rooms running and it couldn\'t have been more seamless. The awards were quick and sweet...and yet done in a way that made everyone feel good...but still made those who were standouts still feel like they won something special too -- it wasn\'t just everyone winning the same. And their host on stage couldn\'t be a more perfect for it all. We look forward to going to Showstopper year after year after year!!
I\'ve attended Showstopper\'s dance conventions for the past five years and I\'ve enjoyed every bit of it. The teachers are amazing and Julian is a great host! This season was the first time I ever attended a Showstopper dance competition and it was just as fun as going to their convention. The only negative points I would have to give the competition is that they did not hand out any special awards and they tend to run behind schedule. Despite those two little things, I highly recommend both the Showstopper convention and competition to studios out there looking for competitions and workshops for their students to compete and learn at!
My studio LOVES Showstoppers! It was right on or a little ahead of schedule and our favorite parts are the high production value and the personal attention paid to every dancer! The judges were very experienced, fair and their comments were very helpful. Our favorite!
Our favorite, always. Great, friendly staff. Beautiful awards, the Crystal award is unbelievable-really Crystal! Lots of recognition with playbacks like you\'re at the Emmys. Always great judges with good critiques. The production itself fantastic and always on time.! Love Showstopper!
The best! Very modern and everything ran on time. It was great!
What an absolutely amazing experience! Showstopper is truly the ultimate dance competition. I cannot say enough about the staff, the big-time production, the scheduling, and the store (such reasonably priced merchandise!)! Thank you Showstopper for your gift to the dance world, for the inspiration to our students and for an incredible dance weekend!
Our absolute FAVORITE competition!!! I love that each routine gets a trophy, and the staff and production itself is simply amazing! They are truly there to support, educate, and they care about all of the dancers.
We were at Showstopper in Sandusky last weekend and all the new parents at my studio were in awe...it is their new favorite dance competition. They were positive, on time, very hi tech with screens and playbacks, beautiful awards, highly qualified judges, just the best of all in every way. I highly recommend Showstopper to EVERYONE.
Love! Love! Love! Showstopper is the BEST of all. I have attended for a few years now and no other competition even comes close.
Showstopper has been our favorite competition for years. It\'s a professional show, with an amazing MC (Julian Thorne). It has balanced judges, high energy, and a positive and encouraging atmosphere. Totally worth the trip to San Mateo and Disneyland every year.
The backstage crew is slightly disorganized. The judges seem very rushed and seemed to favor studios overall. I enjoy the instant replay for the winner.

In general, I didn\'t like Showstoppers the years we went. They had multiple stages, all but one were too small. The Marley they put on the staves is very slippery and slick- almost everyone slipped at some point. There was no backstage manager, but they had a screen that read the next 3 numbers that we\'re going on, and I found that useful because I didn\'t have to ask a million times when we were going on. Adjudication awards are nice for soloists: everyone gets a trophy. Awards didn\'t have any special awards; just adjudication and top 10. The staff was extremely friendly though. I don\'t recommend this competition.
I am so sorry that you had such a negative experience over the years. It sounds like there were some things that you liked and some that you didn\'t. UPDATE: Showstoppers stayed true to their word. Director spoke to me about my concerns and even moved the venue next year. After talking with them, it appears they have the same concerns that I do. In fact, they had awesome customer service. They sent my daughter a cute little package but more importantly, really ADDRESSED my issues. I\'m very satisfied and will be returning to this competition now. I changed my stars from two, to five stars.PRIOR REVIEW: ECK! Venue was BAD--no air, stages were not sturdy and no dressing rooms. The rooms you could use, if you put anything on the floor, it was filthy. The EM wore what looked like pjs on stage for the petite solos. My daughter worked hard and deserved more. Also they did not go in order. She was suppose to go about 20th but bc she was \"ready\", she was put on stage the 2nd! I know some people complain bc there kid didn\'t place well--this is not the case--my daughter won the overall. I just think this was poorly managed. We will not be going to nationals for this show or coming back in the future.
I am so sorry that you had such a negative experience at one of our events. We have worke hard to create an environment that is fun, well run, safe, and scored fairly so I want to apologize if that was not your experience. Awesome!!!!!
LOVE Showstopper! Our studio attends convention at Myrtle Beach every year. My daughter has attended for the last 6 years so we have seen instruction at every level. The instructors have always provided choreography appropriate at each level. This year was her first time in the senior level and yes, she was challenged but that’s what I want to see; choreography that makes her think and pushes her abilities. We have also attended several regional competitions. LOVE them!!! We have always come home with critiques from the judges that have been useful to our teachers. The audio and sound is best I have ever seen at a competition. The awards ceremony is quick. The venues are typically large with wonderful dressing areas. I can’t wait to go back to a Showstopper competition!
I did not enjoy my experience with Showstopper. There was no backstage manager, and the merchandise people were quite rude. The scoring system didn\'t make sense. They only gave their judges 30 points each to score a routine, which led to a lot of ties in the overalls. They jumped through awards and made it feel very impersonal. There where no special awards handed out, just adjudication and overalls. In addition, overall medals for overall didn\'t even have the place on it, they just said \"Showstopper\". I have worked for a different dance competition for two years, So I know how a competition should run properly. I was not at all impressed with this competition.
I am so sorry that you had such a negative experience at one of our shows. We attended this competition once and it was an okay experience. They were short one judge due to the weather so scoring was off. Their trophies are beautiful though.

Okay competition, venue was less desirable, 3 stages, stages were small. Check-in staff often not present, dances announced before all dancers were ready. Prefer not to return.
I apologize about the problems you had and would love to have the opportunity to speak with you directly to find out which event you attended so that we can either make it up to you or use your experience as an opportunity to improve. Awful! With three stages we couldn\'t see all of our studios dances. I figure if I had the be there for 18 hours I should at least see everything. But instead I had to run from room to room. Competition was also an obvious gift to the largest studio there ( a therefore the largest check). I saw dance after dance in groups, solos, duos, and trios that should have won but were \"given\" to the large studio. I know for a fact three of these studios attend their nationals. Maybe if everyone else walks away then Showstoppers will see that ONE check isn\'t enough to keep their lights on. Just glad we were promised we never have to go back again! I feel like they stole our time and money. Just glad we have classy kids.

Good
Never really been disappointed here. They know what they\'re doing. I don\'t love the theater they go to in our city however.
Always top notch. Announcer awesome. Very pleasant backstage and their crystal awards are beautiful.
One of my daughters favorite conventions. She loved the fast pace and all the \"extra\" events. Well worth the money!
One of our favorite comps. Always knowledgeable judges with neat backgrounds. Prepare for an all weekend event. However long, it is tons of fun!
I have been attending the convention at Showstopper (come on people, do you see an S on the end at the top of the page?!) for 12 years now. I always attend the Myrtle Beach convention which has expanded greatly. Now that their are multiple sites for different conventions going on at once I feel as though the second convention is also \"second rate\" even though you pay the same price. Also the levels are all at different times so you don\'t have time for group activities, like doing dinner together. The instructors are top notch, a few of the instructors are too young and don\'t understand how to teach intermediate levels. In the junior tap class only four of us got the material and we were all instructors. Every single kid was faking something whether it was the paradiddle combo or the double heel flap, toe stands, etc. The bonus room doesn\'t seem to fair well as most instructors don\'t realize the music doesn\'t need to be as loud in the tiny room and forget the projectors are not in this room so most of the class can\'t see.
My daughter has attended showstoppers for the past 3 years We have been to regional competitions, national competitions and this past October we attended a convention. Everything they do is well put together, organized, family friendly and a positive experience. Cannot wait until April when we go again!
I give a double thumbs up for Showstopper! So organized, so on time, so positive! The parents from our studio have repeated over and over how impressed they were! Thanks for once again being the BEST competition out there!”
Classy. Fun. Organized. Very fair judging and critiqes. Showstoppers is and will probably always be the best dance competition in the world!
The child attended the workshop event in Biloxi.....two long days of classes but were awesome11!...will attend next year!!
We usually go to this event, but we don\'t expect much by going. It is oversold and crowded. The feedback is fair and useful. The stage is too small for large groups and production routines. The videos are awful too with the panning camera angles.
My apologies, I am so sorry that you had a negative experience at one of our shows. I would love to get the opportunity to speak with you directly about the specifics of these and any other problems you had at the show you attended so that we can either make it up to you or use your experience as an opportunity to correct the problems. My DD loved this comp! It was her favorite. Very organized and loved the way you do awards with the screens showing highlights!!
Every year we go to Showstoppers because it\'s the best competition experience anywhere. They go above and beyond to make it a special weekend for all the dancers and our parents that attend. Its always packed full, but they handle it seamlessly and that\'s why they are the best!
Showstopper is amazing!!! We have been going to their competitions for about 8 years now and we are always BLOWN away! It means so much to us to dance on that stage and get that adrenaline rush!
We have never been to a more professional competition that Showstopper! It is by far our school’s favorite to attend. My students love the excitement of attending a large competition, my parents love the stage, lighting, and sound and I as a director love the scheduling and the teachers registration online and information center. We can’t wait for May regional and for Nationals!
Showstopper is the most professionally run competition our studio has ever attended. It’s great to know that when competition fees can be a lot for families financially, they feel like they are getting something quality in return. Showstopper is fantastic from set-up and stage, to judging and communications tto contestants to the website, it’s always top-notch. Thay take the time to make the kids feel like they are ALL special!
Great competition and well run! BUT, be forewarned, if you are a small studio, you will need help. They often have 2 - 4 stages running simultaneously and one person cannot be in all those places at once. You need good assistants and /or studio moms to make sure your dancers are warmed up and dances have been run and they are checked in. Always a fun environment and high energy. Compete on your level or you will be disappointed. This is another one that they truly expect you to dance to your category. (How it should be.)Nationals locations are fabulous but it is a very long week. Don\'t plan a family vacation thinking you are going to relax.
Showstopper is the best dance competition in the country. They know how to put on a show better than anyone and pay attention to every detail. Nothing else like it exists out there. Our favorite every year.
They obviously cater to big studios that show up year after year. The Director was downright rude and not helpful at all. Since this competition is so large in MA they hold it in two separate venues. So technically you are only competing with half the group, especially in solo competition. Messy handwritten comments by the judges that are practically useless.
I am so sorry that you had such a negative experience at one of our shows. We do work hard to create an event that is fun, well run, and scored fairly so I want to apologize if that was not your experience. Showstopper is the best competition out there. We have gone for years and they pay very careful attention to every detail, and it is fair, on time, and always a fun and inspiring weekend for us.
No one knows which level they are supposed to be entered into. Obviously young studios are entering the intermediate or competitive level and do not belong. Never ran in order. The solo competition should not be out of order. There were no signs a the merchandise table and the cranky old ladies working it screamed at you if you were in the wrong line or didn\'t have your payment ready quick enough. Could have been a great competition, but too many things gone wrong to want to give it another try any time soon.

We always go to regionals and also this year finals in Myrtle Beach. It was a fabulous event, very well planned and fair and all our dance parents loved the whole experience.
went to regionals & nationals this Summer. Loved it but was really upset because it was east coast nationals & competetion was full of canadians, who swept the competetion. I didnt feel our girls had a fair shot. Overall we did like showstoppers competition.
This is our favorite competition!!! Every year we try a few new competitions but always attend Showstoppers. The staff is fabulous and so motivating for the students!!! We have been to the Nationals several times and will be going back again this year!!!
We had a very bad experience here last year (2013) we changed to the overflow venue when the competition we were scheduled for sold out (the overflow venue was closer). Big mistake. The judges seemed to be chosen at the last minute and had no technical comments to make. There was no one backstage to help keep performers on schedule. It was a mess all around and felt like a huge waste of money.

Regionals tend to be over crowded 4 stages. Judges this year very hard for young soloist. I did not compete my dd in finals. But overall groups judges seem fair . We always enjoy going there. Venue is great!rn
They use a camera on a boom to record performances. Then replay parts of the dance on screens on each side of the stage during awards. Very cool!
By far, our favorite competition. They have fair judging, are friendly (Julian is AWESOME), and run the competition like pros. Love them!
Fair, fun, and our favorite!
Always a good experience. We have been going x 5 years at least. Gorgeous staging. Nationals is really fun, especially if you have a dancer in the opening number!
What a great show. On time, fabulous awards, fair judging, the finals was truely the best experience of any competition we have ever been to.
Going to Showstoppers is always the highlight of our competition season. It is always full, exciting and very fair. There is just nothing else out there even close, and we have tried them all.
Showstoppers is always our favorite. Great staff, always runs on time, and great locations! I wish all competitions/conventions were ran like Showstoppers!
Best competition ever!! Critiques are very spot on and usable!! been there pretty much since the beginning!!!
This comp use to be one of my faves but slowly through the years it's failed to meet the high expectations I've had since the beginning. I know show stoppers is known for being very packed and you think they would be use to this and know how to handle it but everything seemed to run sloppy. I really hope things change because this really is/was a great competition

My dancers LOVE Showstoppers. It is always the hightlight of our season and our favorite by far. Great and fair judges, great sets, great prices on all their merchandise, and always on time.
Showstopper is definately my favorite. A great experience for all my dancers and their parents. Very professional. There is really no other event even close. They are the best competition in the US and I have been to them all.
Was unfortunately very disappointed in our experience this past season. In previous years I have always enjoyed taking my dancers to Showstoppers. This year was not that case. The competition seemed very understaffed and unfriendly. With 2 stages running there was so much confusion and running around. Dancers weren't able to receive their own awards because they had to be dancing on the other stage.... and there was no one to talk to about conflicts like this unless you crawled up to the mc... who acted annoyed and rude. Also was very disappointed to look on facebook and see that in other cities the awards that were handed out were in nicer quality than what we received. Clearly they don't treat each regional event with equal respect even though we paid the same amount for entry fees.

Never been to one. they are always sold out. Must be a good one!!
Last year was the first dance competition of my life at age 47. I went to show stopper again this year along with four others. Show stopper is my favorite. I feel the judges are unbiased and their award ceremony is like winning a Grammy ! Highly recommend this competition.
Love this competition. This was our first year attending a national finals and LOVED it!!!
We always enjoy this comp., but I\'m not a big fan of the rule that stated dancers can only dance in one ability level.
Love Showstoppers!! Three rooms is crazy, but its worth the experience!!
My daughters grew up on the Showstopper Stage and now our dancers, which include my grandsons, grace the stage each season. Showstopper is family and will always be on our list of competitions each year. Well ran, fair, amazing staff & judges!
Used to love this competition, but the last few years they seem to be very disorganized from registering to competition day!

Great! Fair! On time! Awards are quick and easy!!
Did not like the two seperate stages. Running back and forth was a bit much for dancers with numerous dances
This is the first year we haven\'t gone to showstopper. We normally love this competition
Absolute Favorite competition we have been to so far. Girls had a amazing time!!
Showstopper is all about positivity and full of energy....Luv it!
Favorite competition of the season hands down. On time even with many stages. Very professional.
This competition ran on time for the regionals and nationals last year which is very rare for a competition. The judges seemed fair at the regionals although at nationals the judging for tap dances wasn\'t so great. This competition focuses on glitz and glamor which wasn\'t a problem for us but lots of people at our studio didn\'t like it. Overall this competition might not be for everyone.

This is a great competition. Well organized with helpful and friendly staff. Judging was very fair and didn\'t seem to favor only the larger studios. Recommend it!
the absolute best competetition you could ever attend! very professional. great judging and always on time or running early! my favorite competetition!!!
Great competition with great dancers and staff
Showstopper is always on our schedule. However, this year things were a little unorganized. I don\'t know if they are cutting down on staff but it seemed like there weren\'t enough people to keep things running smoothly. We will continue to attend because it is a favorite of the dancers and parents.
My dancer loves Showstopper, but from a parental perspective, it was a mess. There were 3 stages running at the same time, and during one awards presentation, my daughter was on stage in another room and did not get to accept her award. Our studio likes to support ALL our dancers as a group, and it is impossible when they are performing in 3 different rooms at the same time. Further, my daughter had 9 dances in a 3 hour window - with many costume/hairpiece changes, she was frustrated and exhausted by the fourth number. At some competitions, the staff is personable, friendly, helpful, and approachable. Over the years, they even learn our dancers by name. However, I never did see anyone who worked for Showstopper, much less got to meet them. I wouldn\'t have known who to go to for assistance.
I am so sorry that you had a negative experience at one of our shows. We do have work hard to create an event that is fun and well run, so I please accept my apologizes if that was not your experience. Showstoppers Northern Finals Nationals were excellent. Kalahari was the perfect location - plenty to do for all ages, convenient- great to stay in the same location as the competition, and affordable. Judging seem fair. Everything ran on time. Three stages going at once, but everything ran smoothly. The award ceremonies were quick. Nothing started too early or went too late which was great. Loved the affordable videos and clothing too.
Showstopper has always been one of the top competitions we have attended. They put on an amazing show and give out the best trophies. They play-back the videos of the top 10 at awards, which is also pretty neat! Showstopper ALWAYS seems to be the most packed competition we ever attend but yet it is always very organized and the awards are always on time! It is amazing they can have three rooms going at once and still have everything put together so nicely! I also appreciate the fact that they make an effort to make sure all dance studios (big and small) feel comfortable and the fact that they were kind enough to refund my one dancer who was ill this season and unable to dance at their event! I also want to point out that they have been very helpful with all my needs and they are always quick to respond when I contact their office. It is also very nice that they have a Nationals in TX because it makes it more affordable for my dancers to attend! We love Showstopper and plan to attend for many more years to come! The only reason I am giving them a 4 and not a 5 is because we miss their old staff! The new staff is just as kind and happy as the old, but the old staff seemed to associate more with the children making them feel special at each event! We are looking forward to Nationals this year and can\'t wait for all the extras Showstopper offers at Nationals including their dancers party and workshop classes!
It was an ok competition. The two venues were kind of annoying, and so was the female announcer. How they scored seemed slightly unnecessary also. Platinum, Double Platinum, Crystal? My studio and I kept saying all weekend that we wish they just had a normal scoring system so we could better compare our scores at this competition to those of others. Otherwise, the competition ran on time for the most part and I have no other complaints about it.
Nice all around competition but the staging was awful. There were ridges under the marley making it difficult to dance on. The background was ugly and looked very cheap. Otherwise the competition was judged fairly and had great critiques!
Thank you for taking the time to critique our show and I am so sorry that you had such a negative experience in some ways. Very friendly staff and well run. Judges were ok but critiques were odd - which happens sometimes. Competition ran on time and awards were normal length. Only complaint - junior competition of 9-11 year olds STARTED at 9:45PM. Scheduling is difficult I am sure but seriously that is sort of a late call time for a nine year old.
We have not done showstoppers for many years. We attended the Chicago regional this past weekend. The office staff was very helpful and we got our information in a timely manner however we found out we would be in 2 locations just a week or so before the competition. The 2 venues worked out fine but the schedule itself was not laid out very well. Many studios including ours had numbers back to back with the same dancers and as a result by the time we got to the larger numbers and productions we were waiting for dancers to change and waiting for sets. The competition wound up 1 1/2 hours behind schedule! After 3 long days of competition this was not a good situation. The girl announcer took too long to hand out the top awards however the gentleman announcer did a much better job. Not sure if we will go back.

Excellent well run comp! We return year after year!
DD and family had the most fun at this comp. They had two stages this year. Very organized. Solos, duets, and trio in one room and groups in another. Awards were not boring and slow. The merchandise was great. Location could be a little better. There is not enough parking and the dressing room area was packed. Not sure if they could change venues to make it an absolute perfect experience.
We love the Showstopper competitions. Indianapolis was very well organized & executed. Great backstage management. Competitions run on-time with relatively little juggling of timeslots for the routines. LOVE their photography policy. They focus on their video quality and it is substantially better than most other competitions. They\'ve become so popular in Indy, that they had to operate two stages simultaneously. Kudos on the gear used for the 2nd stage. Professional grade. Very solid. Good lighting considering the circumstances. They run a tight ship and know how to pull in extra resources to ensure the larger events STILL run on-time.
Well organized. Awards were very quick and I enjoyed that. Very responsive to instructors concerns.
It was ok. The emcee was really hard to follow. Enunciation is a must even with a microphone. I wasn\'t impressed, but not disappointed overall.

Already rated - but wanted to add...their convention is top notch as well. We go to the Myrtle Beach Convention and it is amazing! Great teachers and love the variety!
It was a good competition. Had 2 rooms going which had me concerned as I have more than one dancer, but it worked out fine. I would have given it 5 stars except for one complaint- the stage area they built in the cafeteria looked great. It looked just like it was in an auditorium creating a great atmosphere, BUT it was very difficult for the dancers to hear their music as the acoustics were not good and the person working backstage was not helpful considering this situation. Lots of complaints and missed starts from dancers unfortunately and screwed up a few of them too.
I agree with all other ratings!! Love this competition! Runs on time and everyone is great to deal with. Judging is tough, but fair! And of course we love Julian!!
My daughter had such a great experience. I highly recommend!
Regionals Indianapolis-Very well run and on time! Kids had a blast. Went to Northern Nationals in Sandusky, OH. It was a great venue, reasonably priced, parent-friendly, kid-friendly competition! Judging seemed fair and consistent. Would definitely recommend!
Loved this comp!!
Great competition!
