I attended both 2023 and 2024. 2023 was fine, everything was good. 2024 was a joke. There was clearly politics involved: extremely inappropriate dances placed high, only one studio seemed to consistently get rewarded even though, overall, they actually weren't that good. I almost missed my call because the lady I checked in with forgot to actually check me in. As for my actual performance, that was my best run ever and I scored extremely low, and none of the critiques made any sense (not just that I don't think they applied - they legitimately did not make sense). The best dances barely got any recognition (if they got it at all) because they were extremely technical; the ones that got the high scores were flashy, but with poor technique. I don't know what the judges were looking for but it wasn't technique nor stage presence. Ran extremely early. Staff very cold.

Great competition. Loved it.
Good, consistent competition. I like how they have the dancers pick up their adjudication medal right after they perform. This makes awards shorter which is awesome. But I do wish they would let the kids talk a little more win they win top overalls and Title. Also, I missed seeing all the kids in their Title crown since they don't give them out. The Live final competition format is great but it was kind of late after a long weekend. But overall this is a well run and positive event.
St. Louis - The judging was ridiculous! One judge completely overpowered the other judges. She was so distracting to dancers with her constant waving arms. The comments were more about costume and choreo than technique and performance. The loud judge said I should add rhinestones to a head to toe sequined costume! (which BTW I did add additional stones). Not professional. The judge does not know the demographics of my students and sometimes stones are not added due to expense. (these were 7 and 8 year olds) The event also ran an hour and a half ahead!! Running a little early is good but that is too much!! It causes unnecessary chaos and stress. Not impressed with Prime Time. It should be noted that I am not displeased with scores.
I liked the prime time live chance to recompete. I did not like the fact it ran so early off schedule. Hard to plan.
Not impressed. We felt like just a number to them. Also one of the judges was pointing at kids while they were performing. Not professional.
We were looking forward to attending but this was cancelled for low enrollment.
Loved that is ran ahead of schedule, but feel like the judges needed to expand their knowledge of dance. There was some really great performances in the hip hop and faster jazz and they scored so low.
We would have liked to attend this competition but it was cancelled.
I felt like we got our most productive Judges comments at Prime Time. They gave us actual points to take back to the studio and improve on. Rather than just \'good job\' or \'thank you\'. I had a list of things to work on with the kids! The judges are conferenced together so they can agree or disagree with each other, AND you only have one review to listen to rather than three!
Competition was great & the judges were too
I love that PrimeTime recognizes the problem that exists with studios not entering their dances in the correct level... BUT the new rules are hard to understand. And if you are 10th in the Elite division that means you would have been 1st in the Intermediate division, so you are giving up the win by being just one point better? Maybe not the right solution... but I still totally respect that they are TRYING to find a solution to the age old problem of entering dances into the correct category. Their solo pricing is WAY out of line too... which does help with the length of competitions! And competitions as a whole need to better calculate their schedules. I don\'t think you should be PROUD of the fact that you run two hours early... that\'s phenomenally bad planning... NOT a point of pride! People make plans based on the schedule posted... and having to scramble around to accommodate bad planning is not right! Overall... I like their format!
Not my favorite competition. Some of the rules are a little strange.
While a decently run comp, I completely despise the \"new\" scoring system for both PrimeTIme and Showbiz this year. I understand that levels can be used improperly, and that studios will intentionally level down for the win, but the PT/SB method of resolving that issue is completely off base. I have no problem lumping everyone together, but using scores to differentiate levels is ridiculous. Since the Emcee does not explain scoring before awards are announced, dancer, parents and teachers alike get quite confused. Also, telling an obviously advanced dancer that she/he is considered intermediate simply because their score was below 280 is insane especially since scores are simply based on 3 peoples opinions on one day. In addition, if you dance multiple solos, you can place twice if one solo scores in one level and the other solo scores in another level. And title is now for everyone in an age group, not one per level. Lots of bad practices all at once. And that is just solos. Group dances are even worse. One missed turn/trick in a group dance will place a dance full of advanced dancers in intermediate. Levels are a good idea when used appropriately. PrimeTime and Showbiz are not using them appropriately.
Omaha, NE Regional 2014. Dances went out of order both days. Technical issues on multiple occasions. Awards were disorganized. They announced the order of overalls backwards for one division. And they awarded specials on Sunday for group dances that happened on Saturday. Those dancers weren\'t even at the comp on Sunday. Judging was tough & inconsistent. Hoping we don\'t do this one again.
Great competition!!! Fun awards!
we go every yr. a few things could be better but still have fun
Well organized and helpful staff. Ran very early at the regionals we attended ... over two hours. Heavily weighted on top awards to the larger studios with more in attendance.
Ran on time, assigned Dressing rooms...loved it
