Well run comp! They were able to.accomodate us when another comp cancelled and everything ran smooth. We will be back! We prefer a school stage over a built stage but it was overall a great comp.

First time attending this competition. We really enjoyed it. Event was run in an organized way and on-time. Awards were fun, emcee kept it interesting and was entertaining! Plenty of space in the dressing rooms. I like that they give trophies for solos and media is free which is always nice! Attended Voorhees, NJ Nov. 2019
Competition runs well, my studio has gone here as an optional competition a few times, and the competition overall has a great atmosphere!
A wonderful experience with On Stage America. A truly amazing staff who makes every child feel special. Very fair judging, generous amount of special awards. Runs on time, even ahead of schedule. Staff is approachable and respectful at all times. Very positive experience .
Our studio hasn't done a competition with On Stage in several years and decided to give it a try this year. Our dancers always did well at On Stage and always had so much fun. This year at On Stage was a big disappointment. Our dancers did have fun, but the judging was EXTREMELY biased. There was talk, not just amongst our team but other teams in the dressing room and lobby about how biased this competition is to certain studios. Conversation heard in lobby. Studio A mom 1: there's a lot of different studios from last year here tonight, and some of the dancers are really good. Studio A mom 2: (laughing) I wouldn't worry about that, as many years as we've been doing On Stage. So I walk away thinking to myself, "surely the competition wouldn't favor one particular studio just because of that." Well, when ALL of the title winners and the only diamond scoring dances were from that studio it seemed a little suspicious. When one of the dancers remarked, during the award ceremony, about his good friends "the back stage guys" it seemed even more suspicious. People from other studios were telling one of our dancers that they could not believe that she hadn't won title. The other issue was with the judges/scoring, actually, just one judge in particular. My daughters solo scores were a 97, 98, and .....,. 94. Her duo was scored a 97, 98.5, and a 91?? A NINETY-ONE!!Besides the fact that my daughter hasn't scored that low in a long time, how do 2 people see her and estimate her skill at a 97-98 but another a 91/94? Either the one judge is judging fairly and the other two were being lenient, or the two judges were judging fairly and the one was not. The biasedness that seemed to be blatant, on top of the wide range in scores soured our view of On Stage America. I don't think that our studio is going to be going back to On Stage next year. And that's disappointing because On Stage does run a fun well organized competition.
My girls had the most amazing time last year at Open Call. The staff and Judges were the best ever. They were very into the entire comp even at Nationals up until the last day of sitting there for hours. They were just as intrigued as they were on day one. Fantastic organization. Well run, fair. We will forever be grateful for the amazing experience we had with this competition.
we love onstage. we have never had any problems there. we love the hype during the awards ceremony.

AWESOME! What a terrific experience. For starters the MC was fabulous. He really entertained not only the dancers but the parents as well. Extremely Talented and fun to watch. The panel of judges that were selected really nailed it. They were fair and truly recognized choreography, technique and hard work to its fullest. Thank you On Stage America for a wonderful experience at Nationals!
It\'s a shame to see a 5 star competition go to a 3 star competition. The two prior reviews were very accurate as our studio witnessed most of the comments that were written. The competition was much better 3-5 years ago with the old staff. The biggest issue is having 6 group numbers with only 4 to 5 routines In between each one. The same dancers are in these routines. It was comical because as this group was finished dancing they were already announced to be back stage checking in for the next routine as they have just left the stage from preforming. The dressing room was far away and we were being harassed to change faster as our dancers were already sweating from running back to do these quick changes and to help out with that, the dressing room wasn\'t even air conditioned. Miss Erin, who works back stage, was very rude to our dancers telling one of them that the whole competition was on a hold just for us for 20 min, when other dances before our dance, weren\'t even checked in. Not to mention she gave dirty looks to our dancers and parents. The favoritism of other studios is evident and the judging was inconsistent. The whole week I felt as though we were rushed as if the director had somewhere else to be. Also the owner of the competition is clueless as to what\'s going on in her company. The mc was great and made the awards and waiting fun. The rest of the staff needs to take lessons from him. As far as the dance off, our dance studio that grease would win it before it even preformed that week. That\'s the way the cookies been crumbling for the past 5 years.
If I could give no star that would be more suitable. Time to re-brand this comp after 25 year as a Musical Theater/Broadway/\"If you don\'t have a prop don\'t come\" comp. It was literally like a HS talent show on steroids. The judging panel-big whopping 3 of them-had no diversity in experience and background-all musical theater & Broadway. We saw lip syncing, dancing in character costumes and a prop for basically every number which at times were either never used or used for the students who can\'t \"dance\" to be able to position themselves on or up against just to be on stage. As far as the judging it was CLEAR that technique, and all the other genres including tap, hip hop and contemporary had no idea how to be judged. This is not a DANCE comp! This is ok but don\'t advertise as such! As far as the review below I heard first hand the \"preferred studios\" discussing how this year they were promised certain things as well as shirts being worn.As far as the \"fight\" the studio itself (Z) should have been disqualified as other comps make it VERY clear that any ill will or negative bias/ acts/comments against others can & will lead to disqualification. A PROFESSIONAL LEVEL OF DECORUM IS EXPECTED! A NATIONAL comp cannot have favoritism-this must get removed from the business model as it just becomes an illegitimate biased experience which is what this was. Our studio as well as others had numbers that were so technically advanced and proper but were completely overlooked because they didn\'t have a \"literal\" presentation of the numbers with props. Finally when a number (Grease) is given an overall choreography award that was just the icing on the cake. News flash: that movie was choreographed 40 plus years ago..recreating it is certainly not worthy of an original choreography award because they \"fit the whole movie into the number in under 7 minutes\". PS DIAMOND awards are for flawless, technically correct, well choreographed, clean & refined dances NOT regurgitation.
Pros - The staff and backstage crew were fun and helpful. Great atmosphere. Cons - The favoritism and blatant politics regarding one studio were UNBELIEVEABLE. This studio brought well over 100 dances and they were clearly known by the staff for being at previous regionals/nationals. I understand that not everything is always fair, but this went beyond unfair. At one point, the favorite studio was wheeling a giant prop on stage (and took longer than the allotted 2 minutes, but were not penalized) and the MC TOLD THE PROP DADS THAT THEIR PROP WAS OFF CENTER. If that curiosity is going to be given to one studio then the MC should alert every dance when a formation or prop is set up off center. By Sunday afternoon the judges were clapping for this studio before the kids even started dancing. They were gorgeous and extremely talented children; I will not take that away from them. This is solely on how the competition responded to this one studio and brushed the others aside. It was unprofessional and disappointing.
Very kid friendly, they seemed to have a very good time. Sold out so very big and tough competition. Judging seemed very fair . The guy backstage was very energetic, friendly and helpful. Awards ceremony so so announcer a bit long winded. Overall kids had fun, we had fun, so I would go back next year!
Disappointing. While we knew this competition would be a step up (and a good educational experience for our team), there was definitely a \"home team/best customer feel\" that was emphasized for their large, pre-professional teams participants. I don\'t mean awards; we didn\'t expect to place overall. I mean overall feeling. We have been at competitions before where we were a little out of our league; but things were still friendly and the love of dance kind of tied things together. Not here. Things were a bit chaotic in the halls backstage. While the admin. has no control over the behavior of the participants, the teams that swept the competition were observed being derogatory to our dancers during their performance. Unfortunate. Judges encountered outside of the venue seemed to be friendly and enjoying things. Lots of distortion and squeaks when using the microphones; painful to the ears. A better sound check ahead of time would help. Administration would do well to know that perhaps their best customers are also the ones with the worst sportsmanship. I know the judges can\'t have eyes in the back of their heads, but studio owners should be aware of the behavior of their dancers. Photos and DVDs were quite expensive relative to other competitions.
The worst competition ever!!!! Sound system was awful. No hall monitors to supervise and advise the dancers of what is going on. Numerous men walking the hallways with young girls getting dressed. We drove 3 hours with our team to compete here and were never acknowledged or welcomed and thanked like we have at other competitions. It seemed very one sided. A few of the dance studios were obviously familiar to them and the favorites. No trophies given out - only to Title winners. All other winners receive plaques. No information on the judges who seemed inadequate. Staff very rude. Will never attend this competition again.
This was my favorite Competition of all my 11 years. No extra fees for \"Title\". So everyone has the opportunity to win and be judged on the same level. I wish every comp was this fair. I enjoy this competition from beginning to end every time.
these are always a great comp to get ready for other comps....
Love OSA. Favorite Nationals we\'ve ever attended. I do wish they\'d cut down on the adjudications a bit - gold, high gold, platinum, high platinum, diamond.
Best dance competition this season, by far! Everyone I encountered who was representing On Stage America - from my DVD purchase, to my shirt purchase and to my request for a schedule \"tweak\" - was so friendly and helpful and a real pleasure to interact with. Raj was so wonderful when I asked for a favor on Saturday night and I can\'t speak highly enough about him. I would recommend this competition without reservation to all dance competition teams. They got their results up faster than any other competition I\'ve attended.
OSA has always been our favorite of the year! our kids love attending OSA which is why we have been going for over 15 years! We love OSA! Thank you for always being professional and on time!
Everyone has a different experience and I recognize that. Staff was great. I thought the competition went rather well overall. Critiques from the judges focused less on dancing and more on personal opinion on trivial aspects. Felt like we missed out on real dance critiques at times.
Convention is decent, nothing extraordinary. Competition is good but some of the dances winning top awards I the younger groups were a bit inappropriate for their age
We are coming back this Spring! We attended last year with my teen team and are going this year with my junior team. The girls had a lot of fun and enjoyed watching the performances. Some downsides are that they run either very late or very early and there is a lot of performances lacking real competition. Also, a group lirterally had a POLE on stage and recieved a 2nd place award. But overall, nice!!
Great competition, saw all levels of talent and all styles of dance. Judging was fair, staff was friendly and everything ran smoothly.
Overall, we had a good experience. Downside-Some groups that were doing numbers that were inappropriate for their age were winners.
Picked a bad venue with small dressing rooms. Liked how they talked to the dancers who won special awards and gave them a chance to talk about their routine a little. Even asked someone from my studio to be an assistant judge during awards (not when scoring actual dancers, just handing out awards) For some awards they call you up from the audience which helped with over crowding on stage. Overall felt the scoring was on the tough side but there was great talent at our event. They start their season very early which forced us to bring last years dances to the event. Overall nice competition
I like this competition. It\'s friendly and stress free. However, my only complaint is that I believe everyone gets scored easily.
This was an okay competition; however, upon our arrival it was crazy hectic. The check in desk was empty...we didn\'t know where to go. They simultaneously had solos, duos/trios in the gym, while groups were in the auditorium which was cool to save time...But, we were put in the gym and the marley wasn\'t laid flat enough and I saw a few dancers stumble on turns. Plus, the dimensions of the gym marley made for a much smaller stage than the auditorium stage. Judging was fair and they had really good critiques.
We loved this comp, but it stopped coming to our area.
my daughters first comp! This was amazing!! Super fun entertaining!! We had a blast! Loved everything about it!!
Good Competition, Needs To Run A Little better
Staff if great! Make the kids feel special all the time. Awards get a little too long. But I think most comps do!!
We attended this competition several years ago and it ran WAY behind. We were waiting on awards at 11:00pm on a Sunday night. Hopefully they\'ve improved their system in the last 2 or 3 years.
Absolutely LOVE this competition! Have been bringing my girls to their regionals for the past few years. The staff is more than amazing. They get to personally know the kids and make them feel welcome. Very accommodating. Love that everything is electronic (back stage check in, and tvs outside to keep things on time). It truly helps the competition run smoothly! Venues are amazing. Cant wait for Orlando nationals this year!!!
My studio has attended this competition for the past two years, and we plan to attend again next year. Well organized, fantastic stage manager who talks to the kids backstage and even remembers their names throughout the day! Fair judging, good critiques, great emcee, fun for my students, parents enjoy it too!
