UPROAR DANCE COMPETITION

Feb 20 2025

We really enjoyed Uproar this year. Much better than last year. The MC was HILARIOUS and upbeat and positive. The atmosphere was positive and low key compared to some other comps. Only complaint is the Herberger is too small for the number of dancers. Dressing rooms were so crowded. The Herberger staff also waits until parents are literally sitting in each other's laps in the auditorium before they will open the upper balconies for seating. I LOVE the Herberger...Just not for this competition.

Attended Phoenix Feb 2024. Venue WAY too small for number of attendees. Imagine going into the auditorium to see your child dance and there are no open seats. Also, they made you carry your rack and rolls up a flight of stairs to get to the dressing rooms instead of permitting us to use the back stage entrance that was super close to the dressing rooms and had no stairs. This year they made up some "super duper, amazing awesomeness" award to single out one dancer for the entire weekend as the superstar. Of course, it goes to a dude. Of course the male dancers stand out in a sea of 10,000 girls. How about giving it to one male and one female? It just seems like a slap in the face to all the girls that work like crazy to be here and then see the men take the spotlight. Seems to be a theme at many comps.

Sorry to hear you didn’t love our event! We agree that we have started to outgrow the Herberger theater, and the not allowing us to use the “stage door” is a policy they implemented this year. My apologies, it’s not anything we had control over! As for our Regional Championship, I’m sorry you saw the award as made up, we are very proud of it and display information about it on our website. He was the first male dancer to have won a regional championship in our 4 years of competitions, and we purposefully did not have a separate title for different genders due to the imbalance of male to female dancers in general. The award is given to our highest scoring qualifying solo of the weekend and we stand by our judges decision. We hope you give us another chance next season, please email us at info@danceuproar.com with any other questions or concerns!
